I didn't even realize they were used in sets. Thanks for sharing.

It's great to open the Home Page and find news of new sets, but it's also fun to find messages related to your favorite theme or a set review of your favorite set. This material is good to.
-
Mine have been since the move, but I've been slowly pulling out sets from different themes. It's kind of fun pulling out sets you haven't opened in a long time.

Is that lipstick on his face? :-D

They look like baseplates. The Lego Education Company (Pitsco) use to sell them (I think). Lego should make a white or snow covered tree as well.
-
Definately. I agree with you on both counts. Another aspect that Playmobil offers is the "play scene" like the Western set pictured above. Also, Lego never had Cowboys vs. Indians. It would be great to see Lego try this as well. I will buy this neat little set once available in the US.

Notice the white baseplates for snow. I have not seen this before.

Highlandcattle shared this set with me on the following post (Playmobil Town), and it got me looking at it more closely and thinking. Playmobil discontinued their Western/Cowboy sets several years ago, but this is a brand new release (not even available in the US yet). They continue to bring back retired themes. Why do they do this? one might ask. I think it's because they continue to test the market to see if consumers/fans are still interested in these discontinued themes (in this case the Cowboy theme). You can almost compare this to Lego's Legend collection, except for the fact that these are completely new sets. Wouldn't it be great to see Lego do the same with some retired themes like WW, Classic Castle, Pirates, etc. I think Playmobil is a step ahead to offer sets from retired themes. What are your thoughts?

Just found this on Maj.com. It's a little Christmas town/city with new Christmas Train in motion. Thought I would share.

Remarkable! This MOC is worthy of the "all-time best".

I really appreciate the recent interest in reviving this mystery, but I really don't want to ressurect it at this time; as my interest isn't too strong in the story anymore. Perhaps I'll offer something new and completely different in the future. I've been working on the early concept of something that should be fun and generate additional interest.

PICTORIAL REVIEW: 6274 Caribbean Clipper
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Pirates
No, the actual is exactly like the 1st image. It's my digital camera or the lighting in the room. It's a much more vivid blue. -
It's only a matter of time. I will bet money that Lego does offer Pirates once more, and I think it will be so much different than classic pirates. I just hope it's as good.

You can't tell from the image, but the prison cell piece is old grey (from Sheriff's Lock-up).

PICTORIAL REVIEW: 6274 Caribbean Clipper
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Pirates
I was looking for the correct name but couldn't come up with it even after searching the web. Gun ports. Other than a little dust and the flags which have hooks that have snapped off, I would say that it is in mint. Believe it or not, I only put the set together a few times. -
True, but with just a couple of sets, it makes designing any Pirate Theme moc pretty difficult.
-
I actually had a few, both on the prison structure, and connecting the structure to the dock section. None of them came out. I have yellow arches in a variety of styles, black, and old grey. The old gray doesn't look good with the new grey. It's like working with another color completely. So I scratched the arches.

Nice. I like the police sign and the blue lights.

PICTORIAL REVIEW: 6274 Caribbean Clipper
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Pirates
Mine's a little dusty as well. Did any of your flags break (the hooks)? -
Caribbean Clipper 6274 Image Review Released in 1989, the Caribbean Clipper was my first Pirate set. It includes 372 pieces, four minifigs, and sold for around $54 in the US. It was rather fun to build today as I have not put this set together for a few years. The set took me about 45 minutes to build. Here it is displayed on a desk table: Missing Image The most stunning aspect of this ship is its vivid blue-striped sails: Missing Image The front sail has a series of holes every one inch or so for you to inter-weave a black string from the front to the back of the ship: Missing Image I've always liked the front of the ship which has a yellow parrot prominently displayed: Missing Image The ship has two masts, the front being the tallest. The mast in the rear (shorter of the two) has the large 6x4 crossed cannon flag. I've always loved this flag, but shortly after building this set a few times, most of the hooks on all my flags broke (see the bottom hook). Missing Image And the taller, front mast with smaller flag: Missing Image The ship has two cannon windows on each side but includes only two cannons: Missing Image If built like the instructions, inside the ship is a chest with map and yellow goblet - a single cup for a crew of four: Missing Image A wider view of the inside deck of the ship: Missing Image Near the front of the ship next to the front mast is a latch with compartment. I never knew what this was for other than maybe a place to store a small cargo/treasure: Missing Image Same angle, right side of ship: Missing Image Wider view: Missing Image Climbing the front mast, figs can reach the crows nest. It is rather scary as it has no walls/barriers: Missing Image At the rear of the ship is the ship's wheel: Missing Image A larger view of the whole ship so that you can see the rear: Missing Image A closer view: Missing Image Back angle: Missing Image I love the back section with these great windows: Missing Image A bird's eye view of the entire ship: Missing Image And the figs: Missing Image Standing in front of the Clipper: Missing Image Some of the great accessories: Missing Image A closer view of the map: Missing Image I lost the cover of the box several years ago, but here's a shot of the back of the box: Missing Image And the instruction book: Missing Image And the final image: Missing Image I hope you enjoy this review. It's a great set and I would highly recommend buying if you are considering a purchase from Ebay or Lego Pirate collector.

It depends on how good I think the MOC is. Plus, in the case of this MOC, not much can't be seen in a few pictures. If it was a set review or a larger MOC, then I would generally take more images.
-
I like the "classic smile" on the original figures. It goes back to a time when most/all of the Lego figs were smiling. Definately a happier time when Lego sets were better.

It's good to see that not everyone is voting for Reviews of New Sets. I somewhat share my opinion with Athos, in that I too like the variety that Eurobricks offers.
-
Well, at least we will be seeing a new castle line. We can only hope it's a good one not in the fashion of KK.

This mystery was stopped back in February/March due to lack of responses. It was never solved, but I wasn't planning on continuing since interest was pretty meager. In fact, I'm not even sure I still have the images and story still.
