  1. Nice characterization. Will we see their ship, the Alcatani?
  2. The castle has a lot of large pieces (definately not classic). What's with the tall back tower. It looks like it's not complete. The skeletons look good and the knight in shining armor the best. I actually like the dragon. I like the more molded pieces rather than the Bionicle-looking Viking creatures. I have mixed views. I suppose that I would just say that it's not Classic, but definately a step above KK.
  3. I like the red & blue soldiers in this set. Playmobil figs have really improved over the years just like Lego. the colors, details, and accessories are a lot better.
  4. I like the yellow restaurant. Oh, and nice touch with the green champaign bottle for New Years.
  5. I've got a few. The original (or early pirate ship), one of the pirate islands, pirate prison, another smaller ship, and a few of the smaller sets. I thought Playmobil's pirate theme was pretty good. I mixed them with castle like old Playmobil images. Maybe I will do a review one day. I sill have most of my collection in moving boxes.
  6. I do believe it will return one day, it's just a matter of when. Just like Classic (New) Pirates and other great themes. They'll pop up again. I remember that church. It was yellow with a red roof. I tried building and didn't have enough pieces at the time.
  7. KK set 8875, King's Siege Tower is now on sale for $9.99 at LSAH US. That's 1/2 off. Link: 8875
  8. Very nice. Definatetly the right colors. I'm surprised the builder did not use any red roof pieces though. Also, that's not mini-fig scale, is it?
  9. I am always amazed at the level of detail and creativity put into these little minis.
  10. I'm a little surprised that more individuals did not vote for Arkham Asylum, esp. after reading those that couldn't wait for the set to be released.
  11. Well, I suppose Jabba's Sail Barge won this Face-Off. In addition; on another thread, I think it's the most favorite set of 2006.
  12. I've got a number of sets still in unopened boxes. I'm not sure why I'm saving. Sometimes if I really like a set or think it's special for some reason, I will just store it. It's not to sell later either. I just can't bring myself to opening certain sets.
  13. Good point Steve. I always wondered this myself, esp. with the WW sets.
  14. A medieval cathedral would make a nice set. I wouldn't mind seeing a WW one either. Here is Playmobil's Chapel/School combo. This long since retired set is a hard one to find and expensive if found:
  15. Lately, as I'm seeing Mega Blok Pirate set reviews, it gave me a thought to share some other pirate set companies. For this poll, consider the different companies and vote for your favorite pirate theme set builder. Understanding that Classic Lego Pirates would win hands-down, Lego Pirate 4+ is included in this poll. What are your thoughts regarding these other companies? :-$ Here are some sample ships that each company has produced: Lego 4+ Mega Bloks Playmobil Best-Lock Papo
  16. I agree completely. These are horrible. I should start posting Playmobil Pirate reviews. At least the quality is very high and the design is good. Here's a sample:
  17. Off topic, but I believe the ship is also mentioned in the Shadows of the Empire novel.
  18. The flag(s) is nicely designed as well.
  19. Thanks again for sharing the images with us Alex. My set just arrived this evening and that's OK that it didn't arrive before Christmas. I may just decide to open it next year.
  20. Thanks for sharing. Not bad at all.
  21. Agree. They do seem to be steering back to quality designs.
  22. After reading your message, "This is my town for Christmas", I was expecting a Christmas Town. It's still nice without the cheer of the holidays - except for perhaps the riot. Maybe Santa could help the general mood of your city.
  23. I love the detail. Outstanding! Nice use of the sherpa hat for the queen's hair/hair piece (very Adventurous).
  24. Years ago I had a Dungeons & Dragons metal figure set of skeletons and undead. This theme reminds me of it so much, esp with the skeletal horses.
  25. Me either. It's that one stud on top that ruins it.
