Huh, there's a whole lot more scaring going on than with the previous two comic designs (plus a darker purple and bloody eye). -

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Digger of Bricks replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Say, you know what could make for an interesting CMF? How 'bout a "Renaissance Airman" archetype, essentially a Fifteenth/Sixteenth Century aviator of a DaVinci Glider-inspired wingpack, kinda in the vein of this artwork? Like I had suggested, if fans/artists submitted their artwork and left it up to both TLG and the product designers to decide, Lego would probably select the sixteen best designs they'd figure would appeal the most to their intended demographic (i.e. KFOLs primarily). It wouldn't be a voting contest. -
Excellent artwork once again @The Brick King! I must say, this has to be the first CMF Draft I've ever seen based upon a less-mainstream property. Though I've never heard of the show up until this point, I like how the character Yang Xiao-Long turned out in particular.

Here's some of that mentioned further artwork as justification for such an archetype. While I haven't any specific idea for that first hint, the latter two are most definitely Edgar Allen Poe and a "Nessie" Costume Guy!

And until Hidden Side, it was the last we'd seen of the smaller Action/Adventure themes. Around 2010-2013, we had Atlantis, Power Miners, Pharaoh's Quest, Alien Conquest, Galaxy Squad, Kingdoms/Castle, Monster Fighters, Dino...

That's some excellent, grebbletastic work there @TheBrickBuilder14! For comparison, I really like that the rear wheels are a size larger than the front's; but, admittedly, I somewhat prefer the overall cleaner aesthetic of your original 1989 design, particularly in how the hood isn't as sunk in below the sides of the car. Technique-wise though, it's still an astounding build for its size as always! Keep up the spectacular work!!!

Besides as a minifigure, I wish we could (or, could've) get a Star-Lord BrickHeadz like this!

DC Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion

Ugh, another cinematic Harley design to pander the Suicide Squad crowd. Seems like variant only exists to respond to any possible complaints about the Apocalypseburg figure's hairpiece coloring not being as accurate to the source material. -
Technically speaking, yes, but at least it would be cleaner and more open to further possibilities without introducing a new theme from the same IP holder each time. I sort of think so too, as Lego just might have continued with their quest for further "big bang" themes like Chima and Nexo Knights. By "Action/Adventure" themes, I'm referring to the context of this subforum we've under now: IN-HOUSE ACTION/ADVENTURE THEMES. I'm not at all suggesting a conspiracy, just speculating on TLG's business approach. A conspiracy suggests malevolence. But when you consider that it's a theme based upon a studio's media property Lego has a hand in, it is sorta both.
-
Yet at the same time... P.S. Credit to @Renny The Spaceman for highlighting this tweet over on TLM2 discussion topic.
-
That could very well be, and I wouldn't mind the sheer number of them if the smaller ones were instead consolidated under broader umbrella themes respective to their IP holders (e.g. all Disney properties under a Disney banner, Overwatch under a Blizzard Entertainment umbrella theme, etc). But, what if Ninjago hadn't been successful as it has been, running only the three-year course as other lines like it do? Would we still be in this same boat? Could it maybe be that TLG actually considers Ninjago as the "umbrella action/adventure theme" that others here have deemed it, thereby eliminating the need for multiple smaller action/adventure themes? If so, what if this gaping hole left by the lack of such themes had enabled Lego to fill it with the current avalanche of licensed properties? I personally consider it to be both original AND licensed (a hybrid of such, if you will).

Alright! Consider me a follower then!

Being the kinda theme it is, I do wonder how many of its playset builds were developed for Ninjago, and how many were modified from recycled tablescrap builds initially designed for other more coherent playthemes (be they existing or never realized). I always remember this one 2008 BrickJournal interview with @Nabii talking about the evolution of a motorcycle build he originally built in mind for Mars Mission, which he then modified for potential adoption by Exo-Force, and then finally finding a home for it within the Agents theme for 8632 Swamp Raid. Those people wouldn't be as grudgeful towards Ninjago if it weren't one of the only Action/Adventure theme in town currently (next to the upcoming Hidden Side line, that is). Some people just want something archetypical like Classic Castle, Pirates, Space, Adventurers, Agents, Aquazone, and the such, and it's hard to find much of that in a theme like Ninjago if you're not counting the bricks.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Digger of Bricks replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Well, fans' design submissions wouldn't need to be public, as it could be left exclusively up to the discretion of the product designers and TLG to decide which of the entries would be a part of the sixteen. Fans can publicly share their work elsewhere if they wish, and TLG would need only to contact the designers of each of the sixteen selected winning entries. I guess that technically wouldn't be a contest exactly, but I'd be perfectly alright with that approach. -
By the way @The Brick King, do you also have a Flickr or Instagram to follow?

The last question in that interview was the most crucial for me, even if it didn't reveal much at all, I found it insightful: -
For instance, many of the non-clothed "Serpentine" figures as a whole (especially those from 2012) can be easily thought of as generic snake people, whereas these mummies are so close to just being generic Egyptian-esque Reptilian mummies, 'cept they're flaming Reptilian mummies.
