  1. Despite the losses, the OL landing forces in King's Port managed to get their way across the beach and progressing in direction of the city. On a bridge conducting to the downtown, the bluecoats were blocked by a barrage of musket shots from the other bank of the dried river. The Foreign Legionnaires, known for their abnegation and bravery, received the order to take the bridge in a swift assault. Alas, under a storm of plumb, the officer leading the charge was killed before he could cross the bridge, and the Legionnaires were forced to take cover. The situation became really desperate for these men on the bridge, when they saw the looming silhouette of a field gun pushed by a bunch of artillerymen. With a thundering sound, a strong recoil, and a violent explosion, the way is clear.
  2. It has a bit of Turtle ship in it, I searched for referenced materials before building it, and as @Darnok mentioned, I also took as reference the floating batteries designed by the French engineers during the Gibraltar siege. The Virginia! No one would volunteer for the job, that's sure. Luckily they still have oars to propel the boat. I like the "wooden-clad", for the 48 pounder, we have bomb ketches to silence them. Thanks BD. Thanks Mesabi.
  3. When the operation reports reached Oleander admiralty, the generals were somewhat shocked by the number of casualities suffered by the landing party in the first hours of battle. The fact that a majority of the injuries intervened during the phase of landing made the high command to think if there's a better to transport the soldiers safely to the beach, and an order was issued to the shipyards to build a special-purposed landing craf asap. And that's what the Eltina is able to work out: An ugly boat for sure, but sturdy enough to do the job. The proposed class is 4, feel free to express your opinion if you think it's overrated.
  4. As Keymonus said above, what we were allowed to do was to build up an invasion fleet as large as possible, and let the GMs decide the outcome of the landing, through a series of calculations. Now the results are out, I'm sure we'll see some land combat scenes.
  5. It's a good start with shipbuilding, you got masts and sails, it will sail.
  6. Thanks guys, seeing what it looks like now, I wonder why I hadn't modify it earlier.
  7. Neat build, I've the impression that it's an official set of the first pirate wave, and I like it.
  8. This is a sistershipping build in response to the loss of the 9th rater le Fougueux, she was sunk by the TVsans while she was shelling Kings Port's coastal defense with the rest of the OL fleet. The actual cause of the lost is still unknown, as the engagement in the streets of KP is still raging, but we know that the Fougueux's captain chose to sink with the ship. When this sad news reached Eltina, the shipyards decided to invite the widow to baptize a new ship of the same class, as a last homage to the feu capitaine. OOC: I wasn't satisfied with the emplacement of the mizzen mast, the last KPA gave me an excuse to finally address this problem. I've changed the position of that mizzen mast, by placing it 4 studs aft, the whole process of dismounting and re-assembling and re-tying the threads took more time than I expected, but the ship looks better IMO. So the ship is sistershipped as Inflexible, the stats remain the same.
  9. Where to begin, so much to say, first, the terrain looks really good, I like the combination of tiles and plates, the well looks good too, and I'm impressed with the amount of details you incorporated in the barrack.
  10. Yes, please insert keywords like "welcome the invaders liberators with open arms, tears of joy, ", etc.
  11. Very nice ship, I really like it, the fact that you included a detailed is even better, and the easy-to-open feature is really cool. I also like your custom hull, the technique you used here looks simple yet effective, you managed to represent the shape of the hull, which isn't always an easy task with bricks. The colour scheme looks nice too, it reminds me of these heavy frigates from the late period of age of sail. The crew are wearing red, but we won't mind to place them under OL colours.
  12. The defense of Plinton was weak, the only tower has been neutralized by the attacking fleet. The bombing of OL naval artillery has cleared the beach and opened the path to the landing party. Oleander marines, ferried to the beach by long boats, charged the coastal defense, and took control of the terrain expertly and swiftly. Contrary to the false news propagated by the King's Port Advertiser, the OL commodore leading the attack of the small town performed well his task, it's true he lost a ship, but it was due to a lucky shot from the TV defenders.
  13. Thanks for your reminding. Does it mean that these mocs have to come from the original builders, can we ask other OL members to do the moc?
  14. Nice job with the writing and the behind scene efforts in calculating the results. Hurray to our Olean soldiers, the bluecoats have landed in Terraversa, despite a few losses, but I'm sure they'll add another victory to the long list of conquests of our glorious empire.
  15. A decision has been made after a thorough discussion, OL picks island 16.
  16. Nice recruitment build. These shakos look cool.
  17. How dare you, attacking an Olean serviceman and vandalizing OL's castles, where are our troops?
  18. @Keymonus great writing! To arms, loyal Terraversans.
  19. Thanks, I've found them in that thread, they should help us to make a decision.
  20. Thanks Ayrlego, we'll make our choice, is there any information about the islands? Natural ressources, natives, and such?
  21. Great write-up! Congratz to the winners, and a big thumb up to those who've contributed to the judging process.
  22. Very nice build, the base looks really good, and I also like your depiction of the sugar extraction process.
  23. Nice dock scene, with lots of interesting details, and the snoted pier looks quite good too.
  24. Another stable, and a nice one, hard to say which one I prefer. Nice use of semi-arch pieces.
