  1. Personally, i like the one of 8038 'Battle of Endor' the most. It stands in the gap between optical accuracy (UCS) and playability (compatibility with other system scale play sets). It's walking mechanism is a bit weird but can easily be modded out with today's parts. 8038 was and still is one of the best sets ever made. In those fine reviews: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=29347 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=32295 you get a close look at the AT-ST included. In general i don't buy any UCS (although i like and have some of 10xxx line) sets. For the future, a battle set containing an AT-ST would be great, i think. Be it with Ewoks or not (the vehicle initally first appeared on Endor in EP VI), the walker ought to have a bunch of Stormies with it. Before this derails into another 'Future SW sets' thread, i better turn silent.
  2. What's the matter with the old Slave I? I have it and like the outer appearance alot. I find it to be a close depiction of the 'original'. The cockpit has room for improvements but sadly that's the case with many Lego starships.
  3. A big thanks, that's of great help!
  4. You are right, i am afraid. Still, for the time being, getting a bunch of 9489 Endor BPs is a good way to lay a hand on Stormies and Scouties at once http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=63952 . They both are pretty cool figs to get. And the Rebels are a nice addition to every Rebel Force.
  5. Guys, i am perfectly with you! Before any possible changes with new cartoons, TLG will hopefully appease us with those sets. They are overdue, IMHO. In general, i think that TLG will always throw in some PT, OT and TCW sets in the future. The last OTmovie (original) hit the cinemas in 1983 - yes, that's 30 years ago! A longer time than some of us do even breath... Time to celebrate and time to get the iconic things into the shelves again.
  6. Hello Cyberbricker, thank you for your reply! So i might consider to make an account on bricklink to create a 'wanted list'. It's good to know that it actually is possible to get sets within a reasonable price range. Still, i hope that TLG will make a new ISD, anyway.
  7. Hi everyone! Since i reentered my love for LEGO some two years ago, i have been longing for an ISD, system scale. TLG remains resistant to release this one of the most iconic SW starships although the last iterration went public some seven years ago (6211, Imperial Star Destroyer). So my questions: Has anyone ever bricklinked the necessary parts to build one? If so - how much did the sum of parts come? Is there any way to find a full parts list on bricklink ready for ordering? or any other help on the net? I am most interested in the ship; not necessarily the minifigs.
  8. Hehe, it's fun to see that our tastes are identical. These are exactly the same sets that i plan to lay a hand on. Considering the likeliness of an 'Ewok village' release, my thinking goes 'so so' or something like that. Really depending on design and execution of the setting. However, I'd seriously prefer a new Imperial Star Destroyer. They'd land a big deal with it for sure!
  9. Hello Henning, thank you for sharing your impression on this set with us that quickly. Don't mind the quality of the photos - i guess that everything of importance has been covered and we can very well see what the set is about and does actually contain. Regarding the set itself - i like the content. It features one critical scene of AOTC and the way this is represented in terms of LEGO is well done, IMHO. It's good that we get PT style minifigs for Dooku and Yoda. They seem to be accurate and Poggle the Lesser certainly will remain one rare minifig to aquire. His head mould is great! Another good thing is - no stickers. I consider to emphasize on this everytime TLG leaves them out. Still, we have little to either plaster with stickers or to have printed here. The scenery is a good caption of the actual surroundings and does the job to immerse into the movie scene. it is full of play features that kids will love - and rightly so. A play set here and there will help to attract kids to the SW line. I adore the printed DS holo and Dooku's (silver and curved) lightsaber hilt. My only concern is the pricing in GER. 50 EUR simply is too much for a set this size. There seem to be many simple and / or common parts. After crossing the atlantic to the US market however - the set's price turn towards the equivalent of 31,02 EUR becomes much more reasonable. I'd like to get the set when the price gets right.
  10. Well, i like the Homing Spider droid set, too. The Stass Allie minifig is plain beautiful. However, it goes at 40 EUR which equals 51,97 USD atm. Sail Barge is 120 EUR, equating 155,92 USD. Pricing is once again outrageous. A nice collection of new sets - but no way i'll get anything before 20+ % discounts.
  11. Rumors have turned out to be true - several online shops of official retailers (S@H, TRU, Galeria etc.) in Germany have gotten the new wave. The sets have popped up overnight to be available. Regarding the Jedi Defender: It looks interesting. Not yet knowing about playability functions (interior) i can only judge the general looks. It seems appealing with an interesting assortment of minifigs. Not being a player of TOR, i still feel attracted by the design, color scheme and want to know more about it. In general it's good to see CUUSOO projects come to life. A bow goes to grogall for once again providing us with hot news and outstanding pics!
  12. Well, it sounds a little sad and might be result of poor selling rates. However, there are reasons behind this. The bad decision on the part of TLG was not the B-Wing itself, but the point that they released two iconic SW ships at the high price mark within a short time frame. For many fans - i think - the decisione becomes an 'either, or'. And in a direct contest of popularity, the X-Wing almost inevitably wins. While the hopes for this are lowered ATM, a B-Wing system set would be great, IMHO.
  13. Much has been said already and i don't want to repeat. So just some complementary thoughts. While i am in an inner constant struggle about buying the set, in the end i won't do it. I don''t want to eat that price. The set without a doubt is valuable and price ratio for what you get is ok. But my consideration goes as follows: I'd have to justify an invest of 400 EUR for one hobby (of many) at once. While the money is available and my collection already went beyond the 3k line, this aspect blows the positive result that ought to remain after a 'good' decision. With 400 bucks you can do so much else... And even in LEGO terms - one could start and finish a fine LEGO SW collection consisting of memorable (and a few even big) sets with this amount alone. Orthanc will make an exception but my upper limit for a single set will remain at roughly the 100 buck mark. Some recent headliner sets (Helm's Deep, especially Jabba's palace and a few others) only found their way into my collection after the prices were falling into the range of the reasonable. Regarding the UCS aspect - i have a few 10xxx sets but all of them are part of the system line. The thing that attracts me to LEGO was, is and will remain the 'toy' factor. After all, the only thing that could change my reasoning, would be a tremendeous discount (... they won't offer...) when the death star goes out of production.
  14. I recently received my second of this set - time to build one up. Actually i have grown to like it very much. At first i also thought - ok, a Hoth base again... But while it does not have the perfection of 8038 Battle of Endor, it gets close to 7666 Hoth Rebel base, offering a lot of content for a set in this price range: Nice minifigs, a big vehicle and kind of base/environment. Many options to (re)create interesting scenes or to spice up a diorama. The set not necessarily fills up any existing gap but it is great for OT fans who do not yet have any of the Hoth bases of the past. And i guess that it works great as a toy for the kids.
  15. Thank you for your quick replies. I'll try a knife next time and slice through the glue. Indeed it's the bigger boxes that i care about the most. They are well sealed but use to suffer in appearance. Their fold-open function is not the best patent at all.
  16. Well, i have a question that's not tied to LEGO SW exclusively: Is there any 'how to open your LEGO boxes best' out there? I mean - should i use a knife or is there any other trick to keep the box in optimal shape? Usually the covers get some minor damage. There's just so much glue and sometimes i have to virtually force them open. However, i'd like to preserve them in best shape possible (i.e. good as new).
  17. My order arrived on the 5th already. It even contained a package of one DUPLO brick, cat and a magazine which became a present to a relative. After all, i got everything i ordered and thus can't complain. The discounts were pretty lame but TLG gave me my VIP points back. That's a fine move on their part and makes up for the lack of interesting offers.
  18. A big thx for those crystal clear pics, grogall! Probably it's just me - but JEK-14's starfighter strongly reminds me of the E-Wing Starfighter, which was first introduced in the Dark Empire comics. It had become part of the fleets in each of the RPGs ever since but definitely belongs into the New Republic Era. http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080621100705/starwars/images/5/5d/E-wing_SotG.jpg What is this JEK-14 thingy supposed to be about? TCW or even TOR? Despite minor differences, i bet that this ship was based on the E-Wing concept. And the figs are even more odd - a clone (or what) with a mechanical arm (which is not unheard of: http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20070126041419/starwars/images/e/e2/Baodurfulltelos.jpg ) and a lightsaber? A blue stormie with an (energy?) shield? This whole set does not yet fit into any imagination of Star Wars i have. Anyone knows?
  19. This does not only sound good but also an imagineable approach to get the thing done. However, we must remeber that every special/rare/huge item included will skyrocket the pricing. Remember ol'Jabba or his most favourite pet... Me too, me too. A double lightsaber would have done wonders about the ranks of Sauron's minions...
  20. Well, while the next wave's line up is limited in terms of number of new sets, the choice of those very sets seems decent to me. With Saruman's tower they topped it. Except for the ship - the corsair scenes are too short and sideways to make it as memorable as - say, the attack on weathertop, i will go for all. The want to gain countless of figs for big battles is pretty understandable. LOTR is full of battles. Battles which decide on the fate of middle earth and seal the third age. Nevertheless the story is about so much more. Fantastic places and events, authentic characters to like and hate, respectively. If one collects the whole line, i am sure that one still gets enough cannon fodder and heroes to build up remarkable captions of the ongoings of the ring war. And usually, not too many battles take place simultaneously. The license is a blessing and i share the thought that once the lines comes to an end, little will be left out. With TLG's pricing and release policy, at least i have grown somewhat patient for good sales and the completion. The action in Gondor inevitably will become focused on. I remember this nice wallpaper with plenty of Gondorians, the witch king with his fell beast and Eowyn's ascending to her greatest moment. With wonderful Helm's deep and Orthanc, we can be fairly sure to see an impressive Minas Tirith sometimes in the near future.
  21. Used the 4th - which actually starts the 3rd in GER - to get another 75014 Battle of Hoth (my 2nd) and 9678 Twin Pod Cloud Car & Bespin to get my 1st Hoth Han promo and poster.
  22. Wow, that's pretty damn awesome! Once i swore to not buy any LEGO more expensive than 150 EUR. While i stick to that in general, this one will be the first and definitely remain one extremely rare exception. This wouldn't be the case if the content could not justify the price tag. But this set certainly does the job! Size, amount of contents and the execution of the realisation seem outstanding to me. While more figs would have been nice and understandably are being demanded, the star of the Orthanc set is the tower's very self. Looks accurate and has a beautiful interior. So many details to look at and play with. This set is also once more a 'civilian' set i like so much in the medieval themes. One could imagine to use it in any medieval environment as kind of an evil guard or wizard's tower. This is the the stuff classics are being made of! Bravo, TLG!
  23. As others said, this most certainly is something for a big display. However, releasing a new ISD playset would be a good move on the part of TLG. Thinking of what a classic the old one (6211, released in 2006) is, a new iteration would sell like hot cakes most likely, i think. Thinking of the mostly grey standard and technic pieces it would consist of, a reasonable price is imagineable. About promo Han - actually i don't think it's a bad mini and will go for one. He is a more movie accurate depiction than the Hoth Hans we have yet. The brown long parka fits very well: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20070711233458/starwars/images/2/20/HanBlasterHoth.jpg http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111002051446/starwars/images/9/98/ViperProbeSelfDestruct-TESB.jpg There is one other rare picture around, with both Han and Luke on Hoth. I couldn't find it at once.
  24. Thanks for the heads up. I actually haven't been aware of this. Got so many older BPS und recent multiples that this fact got out of sight. Concerning the contents - i stick to what i said. Such BPs were last released some five years ago...
  25. Well, the reception isn't that good by now but actually i feel interested in the new Han Solo minifig. Let's see what sets they will put at a discount. For the time being, there is little i do need. Reasonable discounts might be pursuasive though. BTW - hasn't any BP been announced for the summer wave? I have not yet found any clue. To tell the truth, i hope for one OT BP. One with regular Stormies and regular Rebel Troopers (Alderaan uniform they wore aboard the Tantive IV).
