Just been building and for the thousandth time, I found myself wanting plates with studs on both sides! So, more possible questions for the expert designers then: Would you like plates with studs on both sides? If not, would you consider that cheating? Do you think double height plates are possible within the 'system'? Are there any pieces you wish time after time that you had access to? Please feel free to ignore or edit/rephrase any of my questions! *edit* just re-read your guidelines, sorry. Ignore me. As you were!

Thanks Mesabi, glad you like it! There are loads of really good builds using the Nexogon over on New Elementary, there are also a couple of posts there that really explore the geometry and the possibilities for building more exciting things. 1. By Tim Johnson - 2. By Neil Crosby - 3. By Gary Davis All really inspiring and definitely worth a read! But for reference, the part you're looking for is: 27255

Thanks for the kind words! I think Benny's ship ended up being my favourite bit too.

21309 NASA Apollo Saturn V (LEGO Ideas)
badgerboy replied to Blondie-Wan's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It's a lovely set. Crazy looking internal construction though... didn't know I wanted it until I started to see the reviews! Now, I have surpassed want and am firmly into 'need' territory, gonna have to wait until a sale or deal though! -
Thanks man, all it needs is a monorail station stop! The dome was really fun to build, the Nexogons offer very different building options. Yeah, you're right, some more colour would really help! Thank you, New Elementary is a pretty inspiring place!

What do you feel is your greatest achievement or your favourite set you have designed? What has been your greatest disappointment in a set you designed that went to retail, something removed or a change you had to make? Which is the set (from any theme or era) that you wish most that you'd designed or been a part of?

Hi all, Thought I'd share my "Nexo Space" scene. I built it a couple of months ago for New Elementary's ongoing "Nexogon" parts festival. True or not, I'd read news that the 'Lego Movie Sequel' was going to be set in space... I surmised that this would therefore be Benny's Space, Classic Space the joyous 'space' of my childhood. The Hab/Lab/Base was a structure I'd adapted from a set of spaceships I'd built as my first submission. I was way too late for Febrovery, but what kind of space scene would it be without a rover of some sort? ...and then there was the question of Benny. He'd need a spaceship! I really do hope that 'The Lego Movie Sequel' is going to be set in Benny's Space, and that the sets include more Classic Space inspired designs for vehicles... new printed classic space logos and trans yellow windscreens please! Also, New Spacemen minifigures in other colours!

Sorry, that was an autocorrect oversight. I recall typing "Littleworlds" too, because I checked your username. I despise technology sometimes! -
Opinions Needed For Possible Huge Lego Lot
badgerboy replied to Bengalhawks's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It's dusty, unsorted and as Littlefield pointed out, he's not really showing the minifigures. There are some nice sets there though, nearly complete from what I can see. However, the state of the instructions suggests a level of carelessness I'd be very concerned about. This is just my opinion, but $1100 is too much. For a job lot I'd want boxes and I'd want pictures that showed better what I was buying. In fact, for that money, I'd want to inspect the collection before any money changed hands. Again, just my opinion, but on the basis of these photos alone $500 + P&P and you'd still be doing him a favour. As an eBay auction, it would attract speculator attention and go higher than that... but it sounds like he doesn't want that level of hassle. -
I don't know whether this belongs here, but I was just lurking on the brickset forum and read someone's unsubstantiated rumour that a Star Wars CMF series is in the works: http://bricksetforum.com/discussion/26381/star-wars-cmf-series-in-the-works For myself, I would love to see it, but am sceptical that a deal could be struck with Hasbro. For what it's worth, I'm asking myself if I'm just about to drop a bomb... apologies in advance!

I've very often bought sets without minifigures from eBay... it's a pretty good way to get parts in my opinion. You have to watch loads of sets, or find a 'Buy it Now' seller who is selling off the set because they are a minifigure collector or similar. There are in my experience, bargains to be had if you're descerning about who you buy from. iirc, I got the Umbaran MHC 75013 for £25, AND all three 'Man of Steel' sets for £26! Sorry for being off topic!

That's going really well. Really impressive. Hope you manage to complete it!

The UCS search has stopped working for me now. But "hyperdrive booster" still gives the same "coming soon" message! It's like they got caught red handed, sort of like the guilty child who refuses to admit they drew on the wall in red pen, despite the red pen all over their hands!
-
If you could get the same result with another unreleased set I would be more sceptical. I tried "cargo helicopter" as that set is definitely upcoming in the City Jungle theme, but I got a "Sorry! No results found" Which, to me, asks the question: Why is the "coming soon" message there for a UCS millennium falcon? That's confirmation enough for me. I think my wallet just groaned though. *Edit* Just tried a search for "hyperdrive booster" and got the coming soon message! So at least that probably means for those who want it, the Jedi fighter will be available from shop@home!

So cool. Another fabulous MOC I need to have a go at recreating. Thanks for making instructions!

If not an all out Classic space set, can the designers include the classic space logo as a printed element within a build? It was a joy and a surprise to see the logo included in all it's glory within the CMF 'Rocket Boy'. Perhaps it could feature on a little (blue?) kids' go-kart, or a Lego version of one of those ride-on machines you get outside shops? Preferably with a nice transparent yellow windshield or canopy piece!? Maybe a classic space themed roller coaster? Thanks Jim and good luck with the interview!

It's just perfect. Astounding accuracy at the scale! As soon as I have time, I'm going to try a recreation! Caught it few days ago and meant to comment. Brilliant stuff :)

[MOC] Midi? Millennium Falcon for New Elementary
badgerboy replied to badgerboy's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm certain I'll play around with this some more. I would like the underside to be tidier, but that's where some of the limitations of using the "Nexogons" as my structure became apparent. I'm certain there must be more options but I was pleased that some of the shapes were roughly correct. I think it would be fairly easy to replace Han with parts that "complete" the ship. I thought this had a little more humour to it though. I am willing to concede that subconsciously I was avoiding that awkward transition between the ship and the cockpit. Thanks for the kind words!- 2 replies

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
badgerboy replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I'm always going to be happy to see the classic moon logo... nice to have it printed on some of the newer pieces too. Trans yellow canopies, love them as well, if not in new classic space sets, then what are the chances of us seeing helicopters or similar with trans yellow windscreens?- 991 replies

[MOC] 1 metre Imperial Class II Star Destroyer - Avenger
badgerboy replied to mortesv's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This is so cool. It's the little details that make it too. Clever problem solving, great tessellation of those tiles and nice to see lots of different parts used in the greebling! Can't believe I haven't seen this on Brothers Brick yet!- 86 replies

Hi Everyone, This is my first post in a very long time. I've had a prolonged hiatus from building MOCs (since having children) and until recently I hadn't really built anything on my own since about 2013. I discovered Tim Johnson's excellent New Elementary blog in December and have been an avid reader ever since. During January, Tim put out a call for new contributors for one of his 'parts festivals', this one revolving around the usage of the newly introduced Nexo Knights power shield (part no.27255). I was one of the lucky few to be selected to contribute and have made a couple of builds now. Most recently, for the May 4th celebrations I built a midi? scale Millennium Falcon, using "nexogons" as an inner structure to build off of. I thought I would share it here for your comments and also hopefully to introduce some of you to New Elementary. There are more pics and a bit of description here. I also designed some stickers for the cockpit and rear thrusters. I hope you like my attempt at the falcon and look forward to seeing any comments. Thanks!

Apologies for the "Sales Pitch" - it wasn't intended as such. I'm a full-time Dad currently, and I think what happened here was that the little man started shouting and I forgot to come back and put more of a friendly spin on my post! There aren't that many photos of this MOC other than the ones in the Brickshelf folders I linked to - as I did do it some years ago. Hopefully, there's some fun things to discover there anyway as well as full instructions for the build (for now)! The Iron Giant is an all time favourite film of mine, certainly one of the best cell animated films in my opinion. I've included a Cadillac and an 'S'uperman badge. If I do get enough support, I will source parts and add in a little Hogarth Mini-figure... possibly even the beat-nik Dean too! From what I recall, I did set out to produce something that I though was possible as an official set. My one regret is not having 'something' of the "weapons" function from the awesome destruction scene in the film. I am happy with the expression on him though! Sorry once again for any offense caused - I hope this goes some-way to make up for the curt brevity of the initial post. Thanks to Blondie-Wan and Laservampire for the support :)

Hi There! It's been a very long time since I posted here. Hopefully this MOC will be new to some of you but not to others... Link to the CUUSOO Brickshelf for the mark 1 version Brickshelf for the mark 2 version inc. instructions Please support if you feel so inclined.

Like an idiot, I didn't read the TOC properly... only open to US residents... I did this with the thought it might be nice for kids to have something free to colour in while they wait for those awesome sets... If anyone would like it, for their kids to colour in, please feel free to download the full size version of Lego Superman from my my Flickr page.
