  1. Thanks man, those are some very kind comments! I do have a few other interior shots, but I ran out of time to edit them! I'll try to add more pics in the next couple of days :-) Thanks for the kind words. I was pleased with the radar dish but having used Nexogons fairly extensively on a few previous occasions I was tentative about using one again, it just came together really well though, so I had to use it!
  2. Think you nailed it with that colour scheme. The dark blue against the olive work really well. Nice shape and detailing too.
  3. Thanks, yeah I wanted to use more, thought it needed it too, but that was all the sand green I had to hand, well I didn't have any, so that's all the sand green tiles that my kids had in their lego! I'm glad you noticed that the gunner has depth perception issues , it was one of the little jokes I aimed for. Thanks, the choices for accent colour seemed really restricted to me, if you wanted to have a similar feel to the dark red the Falcon uses. I wasn't sure the escape pods/docking rings worked, but I liked the extra texture they brought to that section of the ship.
  4. The Sphyrna. My entry for the Rebrick Freighter Wars competition. Piloted by Sif Cahone, 'The Sphyrna' (pron. Suh-fir-nah) Is a Corellian YT1350KL light freighter. Like most of the ships in the YT series, The Sphyrna is prone to being slightly temperamental. Sif is a reluctant smuggler, but with galactic taxation on imports and exports the way they are it's hard to make an honest cred, so she's always on the lookout for low-risk goods to transport. Her co-pilot is 404 (an android) who broke his own programming, Sif found him cheating on the sluggy tables (a gambling game similar to Backgammon). The gunner is known only as Redeye, who Sif rescued from a life of slavery on the planet Cyclopsia Beta. The final member of the crew is the ship's engineer, Ryk Lugfan, who has just helped Sif take receipt of a cargo of highly desirable and much sought after building toys, and being a fan himself, he just had to build one! NB. Syphyrna is the Latin name for Hammerhead sharks Hope you like my entry, but with so many strong entries out there already, I'd be very surprised if I found myself as one of the lucky few. Any comments are gratefully received.
  5. Really nice. Feels like a mix of the republic ship at the beginning of episode I and the Falcon, so it's really living in that world!
  6. Brilliant! Love it.
  7. Any word on this @Jim? Please accept my apologies for another prompt, I know you're a busy man!
  8. If you are working in a reasonable image editing program, with rulers and/or guides and scaling tools. You stand a chance. Something in the program needs to be defined digitally at the correct size, draw a box perhaps and specify it to be the size you want. When you import your image in, scale it according to that box. You should be able to set the paper size in the program to A4, if you don't allow the printer to scale the image to fit the page (there should be a check box) then the printed page should have an image with the correct dimensions. This is assuming that your computer and printer don't have the same relationship as a sit-com couple. If it's really critical to your build it's worth spending time doing, but another way would be to print out your image as is, measure it, then work out the percentage increase or decrease to make it actual size. Print a test, then take the full image into a copy shop (somewhere like Kall Kwik) and ask for an enlargement at that scale.
  9. Saw this on the submissions page. It's great, sets the bar quite high!
  10. I am indeed very lucky. I'm a stay at home Dad with two lovely children and my fantastic Wife said that I could buy the Falcon and was supportive about it! So, even if I hadn't managed to buy 75192 when it went live last week, I would still be a very, very lucky guy. I might be pushing my luck if I try to persuade her that I need to buy these other sets to do a photo comparison though.
  11. Great idea for a topic! If armed with a time machine, it's really just a case of picking up the Space sets I missed out on from Classic Space, I'd also want the complete run from Blacktron (I only have Alienator) and I'd make sure I picked up the Monorail and a couple copies of the supplementary tracks (the ones with the switching points). I couldn't find rrp for the sets, but I think I'm probably still under so I'll throw in the first ever airport and a few spare space baseboards too if there's any money left! Without a time machine, however, and available from Shop@Home today: 70614 Lightening Jet £59.99 876 pieces 70620 Ninjago city £259.99 4867 pieces 75189 Heavy Assault Walker £129.99 1376 pieces 75188 Resistance Bomber £99.99 780 pieces 75176 Resistance Transport Pod £39.99 x 2 294 x 2 = 588 pieces 75878 Bugatti Chiron £12.99 181 pieces 10699 Tan baseplate £6.99 1 piece Total 8669 pieces £649.92 This definitely represents much better value than the Falcon, but I'm still glad I bought 75192, it arrived this afternoon and I just know it's going to be loads of fun.
  12. Lovely work.
  13. I have no complaints. I can't wait for the high res pics tomorrow! As always, it's going to attract it's fair share of detractors especially at the rumoured price. I can't even begin to comprehend the complexity of bringing a product like this to market and I think Lego (and Hans and the team involved) have done a frankly amazing job. I've been anticipating this set for months and that ride, to this point, has been brilliant. I'm excited to buy this, and can't wait to start building. Thanks also to @Stash2Sixx for breaking the rumour so long ago, without that prior knowledge, I would not have been prepared for the wallet busting expense this set represents!
  14. I voted Space and Castle. Would love to see a whole "Legoland" yellow banner revival.
  15. I'd be very happy to see Harry Potter return as a license. Particularly if there was a really amazing version of Hogwarts.
  16. That's great. I'm going to want few of those!
  17. That's great news. If Ewan McGregor reprises his role, I'd be happy to sit and watch a couple of hours of whatever they decide to put on film. I'd love to see Mace Windu return too, whether in a small cameo capacity or in a full on dual billing scenario, some sort of surviving 'jedi chronicles' which might involve Yoda in a consulting capacity... exciting!
  18. I wonder if editing the 'levels' of the freeze frames would reveal anything in the dark areas.
  19. Neat! The pose is great too!
  20. I have 10179 and am looking for something new, I can appreciate that many do not have that set and would like an opportunity to have a reworked official copy, even if it has a few key changes. Most importantly, I can appreciate that it would be at a much more reasonable price than the 10179 still commands on the resale market. If the new one is very similar, I will be both disappointed and relieved. If it's just a new cockpit, I won't be able to justify the cost of the whole set (or the space) so I might try to wait and hope someone parts it out on Bricklink or it appears on Bricks&Pieces. I don't want that to be the case, but then I don't really want to spend the money either. The new Falcon will really need to impress me, new parts, functions/features like retractable landing gear or smuggling compartments (or dare I say a partial interior) and an entirely different build. I'm not really bothered what minifigures come in it, I've always wanted slightly longer legs for Chewie but can see the 'system' issues around not making them like Woody's and therefore stupidly long for Chewie. Finally, I'm hoping the box will be something very special too. Inlay/sorting/storage trays would be a real bonus. I'm hopeful for greatness but prepared for a Deathstar or even Hoth scale disappointment.
  21. I'm hoping it'll make an appearance in a few more colours soon too. I have a lot of black from parted out barman sets, but I don't seem to build in it very often... perhaps now is time for that Blacktron project!
  22. Thanks @Jim! You could have done with a spoiler reveal on that comment though ;-)
  23. I've no doubt you're an extremely busy man @Jim, it's evident fwiw. I was just wondering how it was going with ploughing through your audio files. I've been trying really hard not to bug you about it, but for me, the curiosity to know what the designer's responses to some of the questions were, is on a par with what precisely will be revealed by unwrapping of a humongous mysterious box wrapped in white paper!
