  1. I've been running the Invisible Lift on events for more than 25 days. I believe that's more than Akiyuki did as I did not see his machine on Japan Brickfest for some time now. At the start it dropped many balls but after small modifications and fine tuning it hardly drops balls any more. Speaking from experience, the double clutch in my opinion has no function as it is too strong. When a ball drops and blocks the mechanism the double clutch does not slip so a gear somewhere else gives way. The double clutch has a function when running in opposite direction as the machine blocks completely as 9V already mentioned. I expect 1 clutch gear is too weak as the Invisible Lift is not a machine that runs smoothly, also not with lubrication. My machine is on its third XL motor, per 7 running days one XL motor gets destroyed! I recommend building the machine, run it for prolonged time and go from there instead of 'theorizing' everything to the bone up front.
  2. @Roadmonkeytj I might agree but will see how it looks when I have build it. An extra row is easily added to the ground floor. The picture is taken top down, looking from the front it looks very good. It was unfortunately not possible to avoid the corner as otherwise the BBT set would not fit. Almost done with going through my inventory and will start ordering the rest of needed parts today. 99% of the BBT set and 95% of the Central Perk set is used in the modular. By the way, if the Ideas Seinfeld (currently under review) becomes a set, I plan to add a floor for it in the future.
  3. @adwind Thank you! Just finished the roof and therefore my Central Perk and Bing Bang Theory modular (see previous posts). The roof is the wedding scene from BBT as I tried to re-use as much as possible left over bricks from the two LEGO Ideas sets. Brick count is 4211 in 679 lots where 1500 bricks are from the LEGO Ideas sets (minifigs not counted). Next is building it in real bricks and while building I will create and optimize the free building instruction. This may take a while but I'll keep you posted.
  4. I forgot to post, this was ready at new year, meanwhile I've added more details. The outside of the BBT 2nd floor is based on the LEGO Ideas set and not the actual show as correctly somebody stated the outside has never been visible in the show. As you can see I'm using the closet door as an entrance as there is no other way to fit all of this in a 32x32 modular with a staircase. Meanwhile I've made a dummy door where the real door is (with dart board) and that one turned out quite well. I'm finishing up the roof and that one is also inspired by BBT but I also try to re-use bricks not yet used e.g. 6x12 black tile modified and the studio lights. I also like the Logoswede version but I'm trying to keep as close as possible to the original LEGO Ideas sets.
  5. As many as possible but when finished I will make a final comparison and will try to exchange left over pieces into the build get to highest possible percentage of re-use. Meanwhile I've successfully added the Big Bang Theory set on the second floor with all the original details and more. Current brick count is at 3200. I've got requests to add a Seinfeld, Will & Grace or even 'How I met your mother' floor to the build. Good ideas but there is no official LEGO set of these and I want to keep the build restricted to the LEGO Ideas sets. So next is adding a detailed roof with a party area for Friends and BBT :)
  6. Since the 21319 Central Perk set came out I wanted to make a modular out of it. After some research I didn't find anything to my satisfaction so I started designing one (digitally) myself. I kept all the original details but managed to fit them on a 32x32 baseplate as common with modulars. At the right side will be a staircase to the 2nd floor. I was planning on making apartments of Joe, Monica and Phoebe in New York style above the Central Perk (I know they don't live above it) but it was suggested to me to make the 21302 Big Bang Theory apartment above it. I really like that idea so it will be a modular out both LEGO Ideas sets (with added bricks of course). Designing a full Big Bang Theory apartment will be challenging as the Lego Ideas set is less complete when compared to the Central Perk set. Below the result so far, hope you like it, any suggestions are welcome. I will publish FREE building instructions on Rebrickable when finished but may take a while as I will be building it first in real bricks. Finished and free instruction on Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-34463/Berthil/central-perk-big-bang-theory-modular/ Pictures with details like 'Sheldon dent' in the couch, Blue Jay and wedding scene:
  7. @OneMoreRobot Also Excellent :) Colored Inbox and output ramp are a nice touch. And you have the rare dark green 1 x 2 tiles :)
  8. @OneMoreRobot Excellent!
  9. In the U.S. McMaster-Carr is your source https://www.mcmaster.com/ I don’t have the link at hand but if you Google McMaster with LEGO tube it should be in the search results.
  10. Replace the 1x8 bricks with 1x4. It has no detrimental effect on looks and building rigidity. The grooved 1x2 bricks have been in some sets lately so price should come down.
  11. Excellent inside and outside! I also miss a ‘Police’ sign out the outside :)
  12. @t0mster I use PTFE from WD40, so not the regular WD40. Apply with a small brush.
  13. @rskamen in principle it's the snake from the Akiyuki Cup to Cup V2, no.4 in the Akiyuki Project here and has a building instruction for the snake in it. Every step is one liftarm high and has 3 studs length so it's easy to calculate how many steps you need to achieve the length and starting height needed.
  14. @t0mster I was not planning on making more pictures of the Hockey Stick Lift. It is made higher with two 15L beams so just do that and repeat what is at the 15L beam already there. Tricky part is the fortification of the tower on the back as that is half stud offset to the frame and to the existing tower. The fortification is needed to prevent too much twisting of the tower because twisting means hockey sticks will touch. Have fun with Sinterklaas :)
  15. @Digger of Bricks thanks for the nomination! Can also nominate my LEGO Store Leicester Square om Ideas? A distinction between digital and real build is justifiable as real build comes with own challenges.
  16. May be also interesting here, I've build the Hockey Stick Lift XXL with 13 passing points instead of 5. I'm sure you will do a better job than me with your instructions. There is a 100Mb restriction on file size on Rebrickable so I can't make one file. The file names on Rebrickable have their version number in them so the difference is already visible in the filename which can be compared with the filename on the disk drive of the person that starts building, is already building or has build it. The structural differences per version are listed in the Eurobricks topic.
  17. Thanks :) Works even better with the latest updates to Spiral Lift and Bucket Shifter. Good luck with the invisible lift, it's worth all the extra effort and ran very well for 7 days during this years LEGO World.
  18. It looks more like a prototype to me.
  19. Excellent build! Going through all of you photos on Flickr I also admired your other builds and city.
  20. Akiyuki Hockey Stick Lift XXL as bypass for the BF
  21. @dunes, nice work! Both on real build and digital :)
  22. Go ahead and do that for all models, curious I am.
  23. May be not so relevant for this discussion but if Youtube does this how about other sharing media like Facebook, Flickr and even Eurobricks. I see no option there (yet)? So uploading the video to Youtube and sharing somewhere just shifts the 'problem' somewhere else where no measures have been taken yet. What will happen in the future? Also, Youtube is gathering data of visiting children for commercial purposes, not (us) creators! Sure, if you choose to monetize the videos you are also a commercial partner so I understand disabling of targeted commercials. But why disabling emailing on new content and disabling comments? Just don't allow Youtube accounts under age 13, without an account a subscription or comment is not possible. So I think Youtube is unnecessarily choosing the bumpy road or is just provoking to see how things develop until end of this year. That said, it doesn't bother me that much with only 1600 subscribers, for me it's hobby, not income. I can also use other channels for comments but it is unfortunate that no emails are sent out to the subscribers on publishing a video.
  24. Snake Bypass (WIP). Not only to bypass the BF (temporarily) but also other GBCs for less stress during events.
