  1. Windows has an "Old Versions" feature (take a look at the file's properties), but I don't know how to use it.
  2. Ultima VII style graphics won't be included. I got them to work, but they froze the game when switching the different layers on and off. Here is a video of combat testing thanks to GubiD's Tactical Battle System v2.4 for RPG Maker VX Ace.
  3. I'm experimenting with Ultima VII-style oblique perspective. It's nice because you get a good view of three faces of each building. But I'm not sure there will be problems when layering the ground, the people, and the top over each other. datsville_complete_test_01 by mikh2161, on Flickr
  4. You've renamed some materials. For instance, "lg_gold_chrome" is now "lg_chrome_gold". This is causing my renders to stop. What should I do? Also, I think you should add the "#version 3.7" declarative to the top of your files. Without the declarative, POV-Ray still tries to operate in POV-Ray 3.6.2 legacy mode. POV-Ray 3.7 LDView 4.2 Beta 1 [edit] The renamed materials worked OK after properly installing your parts. However, the colors still look too washed out to me. What kind of results are you getting? Have you tried using a script like the following? #macro gamma_color_adjust(in_color) #local out_gamma = 2.2; #local in_color = in_color + <0,0,0,0,0>; color rgbft < pow(in_color.red, out_gamma), pow(in_color.green, out_gamma), pow(in_color.blue, out_gamma), in_color.filter, in_color.transmit > #end // 1 #declare lg_blue = texture { pigment { gamma_color_adjust(<0/255, 51/255, 178/255>) } finish { lg_solid_finish } } Disregard that. You have already taken care of things by switching from "color rgb" to "color srpg". I do still think the new colors are washed out, though.
  5. Yes, Earthbound is one direction that I could take. But, I don't have any Pirate-themed models, or any other models actually. I'd also like to have tactics-style combat, though that could take place on the current map maybe. [edit] Here's my latest video. It shows the new title screen, a new building interior, a new character and an experiment with using vehicles. You can also see the size of the game tiles. E.g. 4 studs = 32 pixels = 1 tile. The grid will be removed closer to a final release, if not earlier. http://youtu.be/w3_YuhVGqls
  6. I built an airport runway and want to add lights to it. What color should they be, and how far apart?
  7. I'm rebooting my idea for a Lego themed RPG made in RPG Maker VX Ace. There seemed to be some interest here last time I mentioned it. There is a Google Code project that talks all about it here. I also created a ModDB page for the game. So far I've rendered and imported a lot of graphics, but one thing I am really missing is a good story or plot to tie it all together. I envision a story that starts in modern small town setting, but grows into a scifi or fantasy tale. Here's the latest video: More videos here:
  8. LDD is great for creating static animations. However, are there skeletal animations for minifigs as well? Can they be hacked from one of TLG's many video games?
  9. Here's a video showing the RPG's current state: [edit] How do I embed YouTube in my post?
  10. If anyone's interested, RPG maker VX Ace can be gotten for $1 at Humble Bundle: https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly I may continue working on this.
  11. Thanks guys! I did at one time import some of the models into SimCity 3000. I even wrote a tutorial, but the images got lost when the LDraw site admin moved everything over to Wikimedia. http://wiki.ldraw.org/index.php?title=LDraw_to_SimCity_3000_Unlimited_Tutorial :(
  12. Here are some recent hi-res renders. ldv_datsville_townview_01 by mikh2161, on Flickr datsville5 by mikh2161, on Flickr You can zoom in in Flickr by clicking on the little ellipses in the bottom-right portion of the screen and selecting "View all sizes".
  13. Has anyone considered writing a Yafaray converter as well? Yafaray is an opensource raytracer with it's own SDL, just like POV-Ray. However, I've heard that it is faster than POV-Ray, especially when adding on fancy extras to a scene like radiosity or global illumination. Mike
  14. That is a nice looking render! What settings did you use in POV-Ray?
  15. Is there a complete cumulative library of "new" or fixed LGEO parts somewhere on the Web? I remember using one at some point in the past.
  16. One of the last few TLG models in Datsville is this adaptation of set 7835. http://s421.photobuc...7af530.png.html I was wondering if anyone could come up with some suggestions on how to rebuild it so that it isn't an adaptation of TLG's work. There are some additional problems with the model. For instance, the gate just barely is able to cross the extra wide street, and isn't able to come to a rest on the shelf to the opposite side. Here is the model file: https://www.mediafir...84a51c8oce1twfs Thanks!! Mike
  17. SR 3D Builder may be able to do some of this for you. MLCAD definitely cannot. You can move the camera using the middle mouse button. You cannot move inside a model however. To view details up close I usually have LDView running open in another window. You can animate models using SR 3D Builder or LD4DModeler. There are LDraw helper programs that are open source. But, the only two modeling programs that are open source are Bricksmith and LeoCAD as far as I know. If you want better advice go to LDraw.org forums.
  18. FYI, I wouldn't use SR 3D Builder for large models since it tries to calculate connections between bricks like LDD does. LDCad and MLCAD will work OK though. Also, if you plan ahead you can build your models in sections and join them together later using POV-Ray. You can do this even if you are using LDD.
  19. The "srgb" bit is only recognized by POV-Ray 3.7.
  20. Update to revision 308. I Added several new buildings kindly donated by Tim Gould. I also made several changes "under the hood" to make it easier to edit the town as model sizes get bigger and bigger. As always, you can find the project online here: https://code.google.com/p/datsville/
  21. Awesome, thanks!
  22. I think Europeans mix more rubber in their asphalt. Americans mix more stone/gravel. European weather is also milder, so roads last longer.
  23. Anyone know which idea book this model came from? (That's all I know about it.) Thanks.
