  1. Very cool. I like it a lot. I don't know how you found so many dark green bricks, but I wish I had that many! This is an example of why I liked the old brown rather than the new reddish-brown, though. I find the old brown more realistic and I think that the red really comes out in the new bricks here. Not a knock against your build or anything, just wish Lego had stuck to the brown. I like the round huts and I really get the swamp feel from the build. Awesome job!
  2. Very nice. Clean, dark, detailed but still simple... I love it. Well done!
  3. Very well done! I think these builds are an excellent example of how small vignettes can be strung together to make a story. The overall feel is consistent, and I like a lot of the detail. I didn't realize that you could make such detail with all black, but I suspect it was tough to photograph! Good job!
  4. I second the sentiment that it has a classic castle feel to it. I like that aspect a lot. The interior of the castle sticks out to me as particularly well done. I like the black beastie in the middle of the darker build, too--it reminds me of the saarlac pit from Star Wars. Nice job!
  5. Excellent! This is exactly what I imagined Kaliphlin to look like. Very Mediterranean feel to it. The mosiacs and the water in the pool look great! Love the story, too!
  6. Very nice build. The plaster work on the front of the house is great! How did you get that house to balance there on just two studs worth of support? That's crazy!
  7. Very cool! The amount of detail in this small vignette keeps me looking for more and more. Even the boards in the floor are outstanding. Love it!
  8. I've never been a huge fan of square towered castles, but this looks really good. I think the mini out front makes me think of reniassance castles, which really lend to the leg arrow loops/windows. The wood/stone structure on the breteches and other windows looks great, too. Nice work!
  9. Neat little vignette! I like the fall foliage colors. I like the inventiveness of the story as well and look forward to reading more!
  10. Very nice little build! How stable is the round tower? I'm curious because it looks good, but I can't tell what the interior is built on. I like the use of the foliage as ivy growing up the side of the tower.
  11. The bridge is great! The brickwork looks fantastic. The trees, however, are what really sticks out to me. I don't know where you got all those vines, but they look great! I wish I had enough vines to do something like that! I also really like the reeds you built down by the river. Excellent work!
  12. Excellent! As a fan of the sloped roof pieces, this really appeals to me. However, I am also very impressed with the landscaping, which I struggle with. It looks natural, with parts that have been intentionally manicured. I love the use of the blue on the house, and the general architecture on the house. Awesome!
  13. Wow! I am impressed. A few of the points that I enjoy about all the builds: the clean lines for everything, the awesome brickwork with the dark grey tiles, and the use of the 45° roof slopes. I've always loved those roof slopes. It makes everything look like it's in tip top repair and well taken care of. The story is great, the photography is awesome, and the whole color pallet is great. I really like the whole thing. Very well done!
  14. Awesome! It really fits the game well. I love the pitched end to the roof peaks. The overall color scheme is awesome and fits with your previous creations. Well done!
  15. Very cool! I like the closeups and the intimacy those pictures give. The forest setting is cool, too. I like the river and the transparent pieces. I think the fish jumping upstream are my favorite part!
  16. I'm sorry to hear you aren't going to be around. I do understand your pain. Between my extra work and my car breaking down, I have had to bow out of the B and C challenges, which I really wanted to work on. I'll definitely be keeping up with your flickr page, though! Good luck with everything!
  17. I realize that bumping old topics is frowned upon, but wow, I would have never seen this amazing build if it had not been bumped! Maybe we should create a small subforum of 'hall of fame' builds or something that includes builds like this? I bet there's other really awesome stuff out there that I will likely never see since it's older.
  18. Very cool! I love the juxtaposition of the light and dark green leaves. In combination with the flowers it makes it look like springtime when the trees are budding. Excellent work on the path and the detail there. I like the density of the foliage as well. Excellent work, and an incredible first MOC!
  19. I agree with Criosphinx, I think that the Black Monarch's Fortress is my favorite. Probably due to the nostalgia, as I also really liked the 1984 King's Castle as well. Some of the later castle sets seemed like rehashes. The old 375 Castle is pretty awesome too--I kind of like the brick-built fortresses. One of these days I would love to own a copy of it. I love the Medieval Village set for the more modern stuff, and I wish that there were more sets like that, the Kingdoms Joust, and the Mill Village Raid. I have two copies of Daniel Siskind's Blacksmith Shop as well--that's another set that's a classic. I think getting away from straight castles and getting more into the common medieval life would be a great way for Lego to go.
  20. I don't know how I missed this, but I love it! I think it's a great balance between really clean lines and more rough building techniques to give a juxtaposition between the stone and the upper level. Colors are great, the roof is superb... really well done!
  21. The ram is awesome and I love the use of the halloween CMFs for the guys. I like the color on the tudor sections and the overall shape. The very top of the tower I'm not sure what's going on with the roof, but I like the use of the black roof slopes. I really love the ground color and sparse texture. It makes me think of a dead, desolate landscape. I wish I had that much olive and dark tan!
  22. Nice use of the tile floor technique! I like the setup where the rafters are used to lift the engine off the floor. I can't decide if I like the tile floor or the wooden floor best. Great job!
  23. Looks good! I like the smooth shoreline and the sail cover over the forges.
  24. Well done! I love the guy feeding the bear and the glowing hot red rod on the forge. Great idea with the mask on the blacksmith, too.
  25. It's amazing to see how many of the dark green bricks you have. I wish I had that number to build cool swamp water with! I like the black horns in the dishes. It looks like some sort of animal and very much what I'd imagine a goblin ship would look like. I like the interior as well. The vegetation gives a great swamp feel to it. Well done!
