DC Superheroes 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
RedHoodPug replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I’m pretty sure that the one with the DVD is the polybag one. -
The more I see of these sets the more I think my son will love them, and to be honest he’s more the target than me. The real trouble begins when he sees that there are several sets and he will want them all!

Which alien headgear are you suggesting? The only one I can think of is the wrong colour and not the right look. The black fantasy skull is probably the best thing we have currently. -
@Pchan1983nice review. The movie isn’t out now until October, so it’s no wonder availability is confused.

outrageous accusation! I jest, he is pretty cool. It means I get Hagen and Karlo. Have you got the Batwing to sit in its bay? I have to say it’s my favourite ‘cave alongside the movie set. -
All his Batmobiles are the same scale, which to me is a skill on its own, working within a set limitation. As for more detailed, I’d say given the scale and the information we know of the car, it’s pretty well detailed.

Looking good as always. I especially like the engine work.

I would say that for a long time the emphasis has been on the “car” aspect of the Batmobile. The Tumbler and the larger buggies still fit into the category due to their shape, size, and concept. I don’t think that the smaller buggies can be classed as cars because they tend to have a specific purpose. In a way it’s much like the Batsuit. If it’s a generic suit with cowl, symbol, cape, belt, gauntlets and boots in black, grey and yellow, it’s a Batsuit. If it has a rebreather, special function, or an alternative colour scheme, it’s a Hellbat, or a Haz-Bat, or a Scu-Bat suit. If it’s a novelty suit that harks back to a CCA-heavy story, it’s a joke suit that generally was altered for the sake of the story by or to fend off the villain. That’s my take. As for Tim Burton’s version, without it we wouldn’t have B:TaS, and that would be a DH a shame.

Nah, the ratio of MCU fans to actual comic book fans is really unbalanced. -

@Anonknee Muss which head is that? I like the Sketches, a nice bit of variety. And if Lego see the interest in the Snyder Cut and continue their weak trend of a JL year next year I’ll be happy. Another CMF would be sweet. -
The Mime Artist had three heads, but they were the only accessories not including the hat.

Given that I’ve recently had the time to put some thought into it, I’ve been working on a Doom Patrol lineup. Embedding photos isn’t my forte, so hopefully this works.

LEGO Monkie Kid 2020

I really like these sets, a lot of love and a lot of thought went in to these. It’s a nice take on the Journey story that hopefully the Western market will embrace. I love the alternate use of Metalbeard’s beard, among the new pieces and colours. -

The film isn’t out for a while, so we have time to get it I agree, but cinemas can’t hold film companies to ransom because of their own financial difficulties. Cinemas need films to exist. Films don’t need cinemas, regardless of how one finds the experience. -

I must say that I liked the concept from the get-go, but this wave has knocked it out the park for me so much that I’ve ventured over here from Licenced. I love the prison set, which will be winging its way into a Pena Dura MOC, and I love the fire truck even though I don’t want it. -

It’s a massive case of sour grapes, particularly on AMC’s part because they were so close to bankruptcy before Universal’s decision and even lockdown. If cinemas can’t operate in the same way for some time then the film companies will need another stream of income. The film industry will survive without cinemas if it has to. Incidentally I thought Ralph Fiennes’s Alfred would make an ideal PSA voiceover for the foreseeable future. -

It was his main color scheme back in the 70's. Here are a few covers with him in white. Sorry, I’m going to put my nerd hat on. That’s grey and it’s the same grey as the Batsuit on that cover. He was grey and pink in his earliest appearances, moving to grey-brown and latterly brown. The cover of ‘tec 407 (1971) depicts him holding Francine in her bridal gown, and the difference couldn’t be more obvious. -

There’s one that centres around Shazam coming soon, which features a Golden Age bat villain called Jeepers who is fairly similar to white Man-Bat in looks. The earliest I can find something is The Batman cartoon, which the toy Quicksilver posted above is from. He appears grey a few times, and a cover from his own series in 2006 has him looking whiteish, but I can’t find anything with him being specifically white. In short no. -

I love the capes, and the third one being a flowing one is good for rooftop MOCs. Seeing the HD pictures of the truck has impressed me more. The initial fear that the mini vehicles would be taking up vital space can be put to bed. The boat goes under the cab and the kart goes in the plane. There’s an armoury, a holding cell, and the overall look is sleek. The only letdown is that Man-Bat is the sole owner of leg printing, when Captain Marvel, Black Widow and War Machine stand there all smug with extra printing. Batgirl’s costume would look much better with boots. -
Lego doesn’t like completing DC teams. We have to settle with a printed tile. I get the whole buy the series to complete the set motive, but they prefer hardball with us on this one.

Nice! It looks like one of them is just longer, as opposed to the gliding cape. Helps create some variation in the Batsuit display. Also given one of the other accessories I’m guessing Batman is still road testing this Batmobile. -

She’s comic accurate to Heroes in Crisis, but Lego have tapped into that sub genre again of inappropriate comic book moments. Following previous alumni rapey Tarantula, definitely-not-Killing-Joke Joker, and the neck-breaking Wonder Woman and Max Lord, this version of Babs replays the scene where she’s showing off her paralysis causing billet wounds, while simultaneously wearing a skintight costume and subsequently sexualising trauma. I’m half expecting sets next year featuring Kyle Rayner, Major Force, and Alexandra DeWitt looking in a fridge, Arsenal and a cat, and Zatanna, Dr Light and Sue Dibny. @Anonknee Muss well done that man -

Ok I like it, hopefully the interior keeps up the look. White Man-Bat from The Batman cartoon, Bronze Tiger looking fairly Rebirth like with old claws, fishbowl Freeze, blue Nightwing, Rebirth Bats again, and Heroes in Crisis Batgirl. I would appreciate if her hair had ears. I also quite like Penguin’s fat tummy, and Batman’s new glider piece that only OG Super Heroes Bats is allowed to use (I think there’s only been one blue glider). Cheers @Guyon2002 -

Now the links have gone and all I can see is tiny 360 videos on IG, I take it Penguin’s torso is pretty good. Also it looks like Robin’s staff has the new Monkie Kid piece in grey. Can anyone in a better position verify/counter this, please? Can’t pass too much judgement because of the size and quality of what I saw, but I’d rather have a Batmobile that looked like that new Hidden Side car. Come on mobile Batcave.
