Yeah yeah, he's the Spirit of Vengeance, going massive is basic moveset stuff. I don't know about the Golden Age depiction of him but in his Silver Age debut he states that he can make himself as large as the universe! The real question is how big a Spectre build could be done?

it would appear that you would miss the point even if armed with heat seeking missiles. Some of them not even my own points. This time I am done. -
Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
RedHoodPug replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Are you saying that we used up all of our good actors on the films, and now we have none left to help carry the TV show? How massively insulting. And as for them not wanting to be in a knock off series, I think you are underestimating what a show like this can do for someone’s acting credentials, and forgetting that an awful lot of actors missed the chance to be a part of the film series. Regarding the characters being unlikeable at times, I don’t know whether you’ve spent a lot of time around teenagers but a lot of the time they are horrible to each other, adults, and even themselves. Snape was given more depth and sympathy because the films were made with the benefit of hindsight and because Rickman was told about Snape’s bravery by Rowling. I’m not knocking him as an actor, but the added information certainly swayed his portrayal. I know I said I was out but the beatings will continue until morale improves, so to speak. -

@BrickBob Studpants alright, before I put myself in my own sin bin. Everything tied to any franchise is a cash grab. Only Total Recall was based on a book of the films you listed, and then it was tenuous. You seem to be arguing that if the previous films were not as well received then remakes are ok to do. You might not care about the books directly, but without them this forum would be pretty quiet. A lot of that filler you mentioned actually strengthens character arcs and would make so many elements of the films make sense. One would argue that being well adapted would be to include the missing elements. Being classic or beloved or definitive does not ring fence from adaptation. You’d kill the theatre world with that ethic. Why not let actors who weren’t in the originals and who would love to play a certain character, have that chance? That's me out. -

I would strongly argue that it hasn’t stagnated, citing all the factors that you listed as reasons why. It’s phenomenally popular. And who knows, the TV show could spawn spin-offs. It’s a big project and new storylines don’t have to be told right now. Quite a lot of WB’s recent work has been successful, and frankly I’m pretty sure all of Rowling’s books have been best sellers, with the Strike series being consistently popular. Is any of this remotely true? Can we try and steer the conversation back to what it’s supposed to be about now? Before it ends being pages of dross and faces temporary closure? -

You posted what you said was box art from this set. If I remember correctly it was a small traditional but stylised castle on a pinky-yellow coloured background, it definitely wasn’t a giant clamshell. Or was it a close up of part of the set? Because the box is black. -

All this negativity over something that hasn't even happened yet. You'd think this was the first time a film series has been adapted for television. The thought of seeing Peeves, RAB, Bagman, Winky, Binns, the Gaunts, Charlie Weasley, Teddy Tonks, SPEW, in-depth lessons and quidditch, Ron's ghoul, Percy's redemption arc, Firenze as a teacher, blast-ended skrewts, the Ministry battle, Fred and George's beta testing and leaving bash, Harry's home life, Kreacher's arc, Nearly Headless Nick's death day party, the headless hunt, the other ghosts, Muggle Prime Minister, the Longbottoms, aparating lessons, the songs of the sorting hat, the other Diagon Alley shops, the Dumbledores, Grindelwald and anything else that I've missed in greater or any detail. There is so much that got left on the cutting room floor, so much untouched and ripe for exploration, yet for various reasons many here would rather everything stagnates. Such bizarre thinking. -

Couple of things. Firstly it is indeed business, and if they deem cancelling or indefinitely postponing the set as good business, that’s their shout. They sell enough across the board for them to not worry about the potential nonexistence of one set. Secondly no business that sells a luxury product or service has to do what the customer demands. However customer demand tends to be based on existing products. Thirdly in normal circumstances no one would have known that this set existed. All that would have happened is that the same people would have asked why there wasn’t a ToD set. Fourthly it’s not strictly true that they create what the consumer demands. No one knew they wanted Ninjago until it arrived but it’s had a ten year plus run. No one asked for the Queer Eye set but it still came and lack of demand benched it quickly. No one expected Mario figures to be digitally interactive but it’s in its fourth year. I want a more consistent DC theme but I don’t have one. -

While I'm not casting doubt on your conversation occuring, I don't believe that Lego customer service are going to have that sort of information readily available to give out, especially after the absolute shit show of the press release. As an aside I think it's not conducive to anything or anyone's wellbeing, hanging on by the fingertips hoping that this set will come out. The far less stressful thing to do is to assume that it won't be released and be pleased if it does. It's mad to think that there have been so many themes with gaps in the numbering and everyone has managed to carry on living in ignorance, yet this one set has caused pages and pages of outcry. -

I'm really going to need to see this set, because I'm not the biggest fan of the Burton films and I would have been dead set on a comics version. This leaves me a little bit meh. Edit: this also means that the minifigure count is going to be really low considering the scale of the set. It's going to have to be outstanding. -

Huh, blanked that one out. I’m glad to have a non-Bat set, but I would have happily taken a Shazam set. Lego made some bizarre decisions regarding DCEU sets. -

It didn’t feature the Caped Crusader. Think of the DC range as being a flatline with a very occasional spike that looks remarkably like the shape of a bat cowl. Aquaman was the last one I remember getting a dedicated tie-in set for. -

Ha. The plain yellow hubs and the overall finish of the build made my brain go straight to render rather than knock-off. Glad it is what it is, I wouldn't have been interested in it. -

There's nothing to say that the screen Batmobile doesn't have yellow hubs, and there's nothing to say that this isn't a preliminary image. Even if neither are the case, it's scarcely grounds to leap to the conclusion that it's a fake. I'm more disappointed that it appears to be a single seater than easily replaceable hubcaps. -

But not impossible. Not that long ago the idea of a particular set being cancelled was considered impossible by some/many, and look how that panned out. Both the Flash set and the cave are rumoured for this year. Stands to reason that someone could feasibly have figures from both in hand. -

Until proven wrong I’m prepared to consider the possibility that the cowl is for one Batman while the torso is from another. It’s not the first time that this has happened in a leaked photo. -

Honestly as a DC fan I'm somewhat immune to notions of corner cutting. There's a reason certain sets aren't on display and certain minifigures have purist upgrades. -
Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
RedHoodPug replied to Pulp Detective's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yes, because no matter how much it upsets you there is no denying the fact that there were Indiana Jones sets once before and there will be again soon. Quantity and longevity don't affect their existence. And given how excited a lot of people are for 77015, I wouldn't call that a minimum-effort set. Of course you can get excited about it, I didn't say that. What I said was that it's clearly not worth going all in on the emotional investment until the things are out there in the world. As other people have said before me, without the leaked information we mere mortals wouldn't know that these sets existed until Lego told us. Am I excited about the Batcave? You can bet your megablocks I am. Am I going to refuse to watch any future DC production should the set not come to fruition? No, because if I didn't subscribe to this site or Instagram, I wouldn't know about it and would assume that the DC theme had died a long time ago. -

Those two properties are evergreen, this is a brief revival. The promise didn’t come from Lego either. This is part of the problem with basing expectations entirely around leaked information rather than from the source at the time of release. Yes the anticipation is exciting, but look what happens when things change.
