  1. Reboot, rehash, Lego version of '____'. Are there no more original ideas. There's a few here but everything else is just take 'x' and make it in Lego. So in the spirit of lazily appropriating already established ideas at least pick from what is considered some of the best: Lego Citizen Kane, Lego Amadeus, Lego Dr. Strangelove, Lego Stagecoach, because does the world really need another Superman movie.
  2. Less bokeh, more depth of field. Close down that aperture.
  3. First MOC modular, grand slam! Beautiful. The bike shop facia, all the little details like the different recycling bins, roof antenna, bike parts, working elevator with controls incorporated into the shop sign like a bike crankset (great GIF too), tiled steps for the hostel, the second floor flower planter attachments. Fantastic work.
  4. Weren't all the Simpsons sets and CMF released in 2014-2015? Man Brickset is useful.
  5. I forgot to comment on the actual set. It is super cool. If I was given that I could never sell it. I would also mull over opening it for a while but eventually would have to crack the seal and build it. The 1991 Metroliner and '87 monorail bring back childhood memories, both awesome sets and the whole set is Lego history.
  6. It is kind of lame that they'd opt to try and profit off of a gift but then again Lego customers do the same exact thing with the free giveaways going so far as to make several trips to Lego stores in just a couple days knowing full well the 'one per customer' clause and then turning around and selling them for outrageous prices online. This years Lego Santa Snow Globe giveaway is already listed between $40-100, there has to be a few kids out there that really wanted that but couldn't get their parents to take them to the store for a few days while they sold out to the scalpers. Maybe they're really not bad employees, Lego just releases a few extra and tells them "see how much you can get for this on the internet"
  7. You do an amazing job of making accurate models of their real world counterparts in 6-wide. They are all very true to the real vehicles. Fantastic, can't wait to see more.
  8. You can buy new or used on Bricklink there is an option to specify when searching. If you want a lot of a specific brick then the PAB wall (provided they have what you want) and bricklink are often the best price per brick. Direct from lego isn't bad either but is all brand new. You can get in to price-per-brick calculations if looking into buying sets for parts or general value, generally the larger the set the better price per brick and unlicensed sets have better price per brick vs licensed sets (regular lego city vs star wars or disney as an example). I would strongly encourage you to jump into Lego Digital Designer, its free and easy to use. Then you can lay out all bricks you want, build what you want without spending anything, click any brick and see its part number then plug that in to bricklink/pickabrick/bricksandpieces and see if the color you want is available, price and build an order for everything you need for any build.
  9. Bricklink.com, Pick a Brick in-store or Pick a Brick on Lego Shop at Home, Bricks and Pieces on the Lego customer service site. All of these allow you to buy specific bricks/build orders. The Lego store is limited selection as you noted but there is a site that attempts to keep track of current brick availability at local Lego stores but its not always accurate or up to date. Edit here: http://wallofbricks.com, really only good if you're far from a Lego store or have multiple stores in your area. Some buy sets just for pieces. Brickset.com and Lego Digital Designer or LDraw for part number reference, looking up parts and designing. Brickset is great as you can just type in brick design number or specific element number and then look for the brick you need, can also search every single set's brick parts list and find brick part numbers from pieces that you know are in a specific set.
  10. Fantastic little engine. The closer you look the more details are revealed, love the small-offset door, door handle and compact nature of the whole locomotive.
  11. ^^^ That is brilliant. I've been playing around with the small offset techniques but that one is new to me, thanks for sharing!
  12. Yes sir, (note I put the wheels on the other way as I prefer the steel-wheel look on this model) The front borrows from some other vehicles: Here are your pizzas! Hahaha. Now I don't feel so bad for wishing I was eating pizza continuously for the last 12 hours.
  13. ROFL! Thought the same thing. Amazing build. Truly stunning. Jaw-dropping.
  14. Just built the Pizza Van, hands down one of the best Lego vehicles ever. Build tip: eat dinner beforehand. Even though I ate a rather large home-cooked meal prior to starting I was still craving a pizza.
  15. Won't happen, the greepeace eco terrorists won (or rather TLG caved) and as a result Lego's relationship with Shell is set to end so if it ever came back it would be Octan. Most city themed vehicles are 6-stud wide now which that set would look much better adapted as such. Like this:
  16. The snow globe is cool, hope everyone who actually wants one has the opportunity to get one.
  17. Yeah I noticed that too. It could be better consolidated. Browsing everything of even minor potential interest and checking the price is the only way to not miss out on a sale thats inexplicably not listed under the home page holiday sale main link.
  18. This is freaking awesome. I've never seen that train before but from the photos it looks like an official Model Team style super-accurate recreation. Superb.
  19. Well said Fred. The whole post is great.
  20. That is awesome documenting what needs to be done for a great mod like that. Good looking out for your fellow builders.
  21. Just googled 'old fire truck still in service'. Found a good amount of small town fire departments still in possession of old 1930-1950s fire engines with image dates of 2015-2016. Parked inside and in front of their actual fire departments. That means the building itself is automatically that age. Even found a 1928 Seagrave pumper open top being driven through the streets so it's being used. The time period is officially 2016 This post is meant to be sarcastic and non-inflamatory.
  22. Looks fantastic. I've been following thus and smelling it for several miles and am desperately trying to pass so I can open my windows again.
  23. The Panama Canal set is so cool. Bummer its not available everywhere and the price is a bit steep but very cool.
  24. Its gorgeous, well done. Would love to see an LDD of this. Don't be discouraged by few replies. Almost 500 people have viewed it and thought 'dang, North American engines look the most bada**', and this one is exquisite.
  25. Fantastic modular. Very detailed, fully tiled and I love the floor-door to the top floor. Elegant throughout the model. One heck of a first MOC modular.
