  1. at my tone in that post but those are some decent ideas . If one does computer repair we must specify that the technology has time-traveled like the electronic contraption found in Town Hall since many believe the theme takes place in a specific period. Appliance repair is pertinent because plenty of the modulars have refrigerators and stoves, sporting goods has a good amount of minifigure equipment, post office can utilize technic-built conveyor belts and be packed with boxes and bins full of 1x2 tile envelope, clothing outlet has been done a few times already using headless torsos and torso-less legs for the 'clothing' but is still great (if it was a tailor it could tie in with the ongoing marriage theme for the tuxedo/wedding dress), home furnishings one could bring out all the creativity for brick-built furniture, architecture firm would be a great way to get in some more modern building design and as always an apartment building is a safe and welcome structure. That is a very attractive building. Would be great in Brick Yellow or Sand Yellow (or a combination) or multiple colors one for the flat portions and another for the accents. The next building will most likely be a yet untapped (for official Modulars) architectural style. While some of the buildings have had elements from multiple architectural styles or elements of previous modulars they've mostly been pretty well defined and iconic in terms of style. So we may see a building in the future that has an art-deco element or two but its unlikely there will be a full-on art deco style building again like the Diner. For example Brick Bank is almost entirely neoclassical while Town Hall has some neoclassical elements. Parisian Restaurant is blend of iconic French styles like Haussmann/Second Empire while Pet Shop has a French-inspired Mansard style roof. Green Grocer has oriel windows while the brownstone/town house (PS) has bay windows. So there may be a hinting or element influenced or similar to an element of art deco or its later derivatives its unlikely, with all the possible styles, that we'd see another full-on repeat of an already used style.
  2. I'm glad someone finally pointed out what had appeared to be the actual and ridiculous point of the house, truck and windmill. Over-priced 'collectors items' not meant to be touched, opened or built but rather kept in a box on a shelf. Its got Lego pieces, its got instructions but one paid $0.35-0.45 per piece for it and its got a special box so don't open it. Foresee the majority of them winding up on Bricklink in ten years, unopened, going for 10x their MSRP and with any luck none of them selling.
  3. Further ship changes. I agree that the aft sail needed some work and thanks for the push. Decided to add a third mast making it full-rigged. The mainsail is now slightly larger than the rest and changed the aft most sail to a spanker. I haven't yet checked the spanker connections for legality with LDD but it looks like its in-system to the eye and feeling and because of the plate height of the mast vs the stud length of the sail and the clips it actually wants to sit right at that great angle and forcing it to any other angle makes the lightsaber pieces want to back out of the two plate modified/clip pieces.
  4. Thanks Faladrin! What a coincidence you mention the aft sail and mast as I was just playing around with the design again last night and focused on that area. I was able to come up with a couple alternate methods of attachment but didn't like any of them. I shall try your suggestion and see how it goes. Thanks!
  5. Haha I have challenge insta-failed on that one. Well played! Thanks Captain Braunseld! Thanks! I was the same. I always love the tiny ships (and of course big minifigure-scale ships too) but didn't even know where to begin. I suggest to keep at it! This one was all free-built over a couple of evenings just trying out countless connections and looks until it came together. In fact it still wasn't as good as it can be as I accidentally knocked it off the shelf last night and it exploded on the hardwood floor which led me to notice where some improvement connections/piece swaps could be made to further improve the overall strength of the build. Just keep trying!
  6. Exquisite building. The design and construction is so clean. Marvelous!
  7. Wonderful vignette! Very creative and its got something for many different theme fans, Town, Trains and about as small a scale ship as can conceivably be made. Fantastic!
  8. Yeah its a good size. But what else can fit? Taxicab in a bottle complete with road surface: Sears Tower in a bottle: "Hot Noodle Dog" cart in a bottle: And finally bunny with tree in a bottle: Things that did not fit: Women of Nasa (can get 2/3 of the dioramas), Ideas Ghostbusters car (almost, required too much roof-contraption removal), Architecture White House, Ninjago City. Unanswered questions: how many subsequently smaller moc ships in smaller bottles can be fit inside?
  9. I don't currently but I have a list of things I've been meaning to turn into LDD files. If I get around to it I will certainly PM you with the file. In the meantime though feel free to copy as much as you can from the photos. In fact I see now that the original set hasn't even been entered into the official sets in LDD thread so I may do that and then mod the file and send it off to you.
  10. If you desire new bricks it will cost more than buying one of the complete/sealed new sets from a scalper and you'll probably still be missing a few of the rare pieces like the clock face. TH is the only set I caved in and bought on the aftermarket after discontinuation (I sold other useless-to-me items in order to get it so it didn't feel like I was blowing cash) but I did pricing comparison on piecing it together beforehand, went piece by piece and it was a good amount more than just buying the whole set new from a private party (and would have been missing said rare pieces). There's numerous discussions on acquiring/building the discontinued modulars but that was my experience with TH. Buying a complete used set is different and will be a more reasonable price. Another option is color-substitution. Since a lot of the discontinued modulars have been pieced together and are highly desirable some of the pieces command a premium. A color change of the hundreds of pieces that make up the walls can noticeably drop the price. Easy way to do this is download the LDD file for the set, color-change the bricks and compare the parts list pricing.
  11. Thats sweet the 60th Anniversary ship fits inside @Bricked1980, I'm sure there will be some sweet mods with various builds put inside. Here's some pics and build notes. It a lot of fun to build including the bottle and base, SNOT galore. The ship may not be to everyone's liking in regards to the size or in comparison to the original submission but it has a great amount of snot-building and is a very attractive ship. The pictures with the ship inside the bottle just don't do it a lot of justice and in-person without the bottle-glare and the ability to move to avoid the transparent connection obstructions, it looks a lot better. The bottle is close in scale to a typical liquor/rum bottle. Though the original submission is absolutely fantastic its very clear that they went with the smaller bottle size for the overall display of the set. This is one set that is actually classy to display as opposed to something like a Modular building or large Technic set where visitors might ask why as an adult do you have dollhouses or remote controlled cars. Transparent to transparent connections: anyone who's done MOCing will likely know this type of connection offers a greater deal of resistance and sometimes Kragle-like clutch power compared to non-transparent piece connections. Some of the connections of the numerous transparent clear pieces also required above-normal levels of force for full connection. I'm sure they'll be fun removing them later if anyone chooses to. There's no connection of the bottle to the base but due to fraction of a stud projection of four 1x1 plates it is cleverly prevented from sliding around and remains perfectly centered on the stand. And some pictures. The bottom of the bottle is almost like looking at a snowflake under magnification: Ship, Dark Orange, Reddish Brown and Brick Yellow : An interesting perspective to build in for a few steps: One of the greatest instruction steps ever!!!!! Argh! The crew of the Skull's Eye Schooner is looking to board! Of all the Ideas sets I've gotten the current standing is: 1. Ship in a Bottle (if I had Saturn V it would probably take 1st or 2nd) 2. Women of Nasa 3. Ghostbusters Ecto-1 4. Old Fishing Store.
  12. Thank you very much! Thanks! Too kind. But as seems to happen more often lately with mocs I can't stop tinkering with it. Altered the sail plan a little, made it more symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing and significantly increased the strength of the mast builds by connecting the lower portion of the sail to the deck. The sails look a bit more realistically... puffy, from a side profile now.
  13. Wow, very realistic modern boat! Love that it is fully brick-built. Most excellent building and great MOC.
  14. With multiple official sets coming out with tiny ships I couldn't resist the urge to get in on the tiny ship-making action. Here's my version of a tiny wooden Lego ship, charting a desert island. Mast and sail construction inspired by by the ship in the promotion 40290. Edit: Updated ship:
  15. Hahaha most excellent response!
  16. Amazing! Simply fantastic job capturing the classic look and feel of a classic-style barbershop. All of the details are spot-on. Outstanding.
  17. Argh! What land ye be in? Still showing as 'coming soon' for the US.
  18. Fantastically detailed MOC. The basketball hoop/backboard is a great build along with the brown rusty swing set and piles of junk like the old bed frame. Very intricate.
  19. Its worth mentioning, since I forgot, that when designing with any of the digital programs its a good idea to have Brickset open in the background. You can click on any piece and the official part number is displayed at the bottom (for LDD) which can then be entered into brickset to see all of the colors it is made in as not every piece and color combination is produced. Best to do this as you go instead of finding out when placing orders that a bunch of pieces need to be substituted. This is awesome to learn how so many go about making their wonderful creations.
  20. Thanks Lucarex! Here are some more details of the mod as requested. Hope they help and let me know if you want any more details or info. Without the legs or 'weapons': Fins removed showing the plate build and connections: Tail fin 'snot'-plate setup: Dorsal fin mounting is very similar to the original set. Tighter gill spacing with different technic pieces. The technic leg-mounting and jaw-mechanics is the same stud-spacing as the original: The lower jaw piece was moved to the rear hull and the rest of the jaw slightly rebuilt with some snot plates however remains about the same thickness: Underside: Top-down:
  21. You said you wanted "an update of classic figs with new updated prints and faces. Classic Sheriff, Classic Cowboy, Bandits, Cavalry and all those western classics would be a welcome addition": Thats what those are, update of figs with new updated prints and faces of a sheriff, cowboy and bandit. They wouldn't be 'classic' if they have "new updated prints and faces", your original statement is contradictory. The Series 18 cop in discussion doesn't have a new updated print or face, it has the same old decorations (however print vs sticker) and face as the original 'classic'. A more accurate description would be rerun, rerelease or reissue of that same old figure. Since you now post that what you meant was that you want a production rerun/new CMF series with some older 'classic' western figures without "new updated prints and faces" (like the Series 18 police figure) then any misunderstanding is not the fault of the reader because that is not what you said. You want reruns of the 1996 sheriff wild wyatt west and similar but said something different in the original post therefore it wasn't a lack of reading comprehension nor was it "shot down", suppressing of opinions, or a personal attack in any way. Since this is getting off topic and there is a clear failure to communicate feel free to respond but I am going to let this thread return to the topic at hand.
  22. Since this is the second time in 3 posts that you've mentioned that in this thread, they have done those.... http://www.collectibleminifigs.com/minifig.asp?n=cowboy http://www.collectibleminifigs.com/minifig.asp?n=bandit http://www.collectibleminifigs.com/minifig.asp?n=sheriff There's also "tribals", tribals, tribals, cowgirl, prospector,
  23. Great videos and thanks for posting them here @LegoModularFan. Jake seems pleased with the final model and what the Lego designers said about the reasons for changing the bottle size was what a few had speculated. Only a few more days now.
  24. Here you go. The Diner, like many of the official modulars, is dwarfed by Town Hall:
