Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
THELEGOBATMAN replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I mean, the first Marvel CMF had... Spider-Man with a cape, and three variants of Captain America, none of who were the one kids recognise. Scarlet Witch and Loki in a coat (AKA regular civillian minifigure) too. The rest were new characters, or variants of existing characters that aren't extremely popular. Yet we still got a second series, which means the first one had to sell well. The conclusion — licensed CMFs don't need to be made solely from the most popular, beloved characters. Having one or two really popular characters is enough, the rest of the minifigures just have to look good and have variety. Just because a series doesn't consist of Spider-Mans and Iron Mans doesn't mean it won't sell well. -

Wow, new Ras looks fantastic. I love how much variants of him we're getting, and I don't mind it even one bit. This also means a new villain faction is coming in the Summer, or at least new costumes for the Winter one (probably the former tho). -

Weird that there's no Ronan, since they've just made a new version of him, but glad all the Guardians are included. -

THELEGOBATMAN replied to Black Falcon's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Rented the movie two weeks ago because I suddenly felt like rewatching it, and I've rewatched only a handful of movies in the last few years. Genuinely one of my favourite movies ever. Definitely wouldn't say it's one of the best movies ever made, but I genuinely can't ever remember a movie that's just so rewatchable and simply fun to watch. There wasn't a single joke where I haven't laughed. A lot of people who have seen it might feel similarly. Sure, it flopped, but that's the fault of the studio (release date) and the general state of big-budget movies in cinemas. So I completely agree — this is the actual perfect moment for the Ideas set and the CMF series, and maybe even an actual theme.- 686 replies

21348 Lego Ideas Dungeons & Dragons and D&D CMF
THELEGOBATMAN replied to Black Falcon's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
And Baldur's Gate 3 was the most popular game last year, winning a huge number of awards and gaining a lot of praise from its players. While it doesn't have Dungeons & Dragons in its title, it's still a part of this IP. Dungeons & Dragons is still insanely popular. The movie didn't bomb because people aren't interest in this franchise, but because they chose a poor release date. Not to mention that most movies bombed last year. For example, we got eight Marvel & DC movies, and only two of them weren't a flop. But it's not weird that LEGO makes sets based on those franchises, is it?- 686 replies

I'm not. Most non-solo MCU movies get three sets. All GotG movies got a three-set wave. Eternals is an exception with four sets, but it had like ten characters so that was fair. Marvel Studios has faith in this project, it will be their most important 2025 release, so this number of sets makes perfect sense. I'd love that, but they'll probably get generic MCU costumes at the end of the movie — black and blue with a lot of pointless lines and stripes. -

The CMF series is definitely one of the most unexpected sets of this year. Now I'm definitely buying the Ideas set. Filling it with all those characters will be so fun, and it will look absolutely incredible.- 686 replies

Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
THELEGOBATMAN replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Knowing LEGO (and assuming we'll get three sets), the distribution will probably look like this: Small set — Mr. Fantastic with H.E.R.B.I.E and a small lab Middle set — Invisible Woman and Human Torch with a secondary villain and their vehicle Big set — Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman and The Thing with their Fantasti-Car and the main villain I'll bookmark this post because it will be scarily accurate. -

To be fair even if they made a Wolverine minifigure based on Hugh Jackman, they'd still use black hair. -

That would literally ruin the whole set. It's a diorama — it's supposed to be a dynamic display set. If you used a moulded T. Rex, it would just be... standing there, awkwardly. No posable tail. No posable arms. No posable legs and feet. It couldn't even be able to stand on the car with one of its legs, which is a pretty big part of that set. -

Definitely not, those movies haven't even started production. Not sure if LEGO would make sets based on the Netflix version of Avatar, the original is a much better choice. -

Yeah, I know. I hope one day we'll some more sets from it, there's a lot of potential. Wednesday would be great too tho. I wonder what sets they'd come up with. -

I think it's a one-and-done type of IP. They are making that single set to celebrate the IP as a whole due to the upcoming anniversary.- 686 replies

Jurassic Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
THELEGOBATMAN replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Controversial opionion, but I think the T. Rex diorama is the best Jurassic set by a long mile thanks to the buildable T. Rex. Even more controversial — I wish all dinosaurs were brickbuilt. The moulds are inconsistent, the joints look horrible in some cases, the prints are totally random (example — there's a set with a Dilophosaurus which has claw and tooth printing, but the same sized Pyroraptor has neither), and the posability is extremely poor in some places. -

Yeah, I honestly don't see them including Deadpool in any set this year. The question is, what's going to happen later on. At some point Deadpool will appear in a PG-13 MCU movie. Is he going to be included in a set then? If not, then I better hold on to the 2012 minifigure like my life depends on it. -

That's true, the Dominion wave was surprisingly huge. So many sets with a lot of different dinosaurs. Still, I don't care about sets for movies that I don't, at the very least, like. Already sold all my Dominion sets (mind you, I've had only two of them), even though I thought they looked rather well on my display — but I still have all my Jurassic Park sets, one of which I've had since 2018. -

Nah, I don't think so. First of all, the 18+ branding doesn't actually have anything to do with the maturity of the content. It's just a marketing move to sell specific sets as display pieces for older fans of LEGO. While some of us may not understand the "no R-rated properties" rule, it's good from a business POV. LEGO always has been and always will be, first and foremost, for children. If you make even a single set based on 16–18+ properties, you're opening Pandora's box — LEGO Game of Thrones. LEGO The Witcher. LEGO God of War. While all the properties I listed sound like a dream to some of us here (I'd kill for a The Witcher or a GoW set), it's the opposite for a parent. Again, from a business POV, it's not worth sacrificing the parents who will deem LEGO "unsafe" for their children to a few adults fan who will buy sets based on adult-oriented properties. -

That has absolutely nothing to do with what you've said before, since you were talking about the "fact" that it's a "horrible" movie, but fine. Let's get back to discussing the non-existent sets for Deadpool & Wolverine. -

It is? Interesting. Wonder what Netflix IP LEGO could make sets based on. (I'd love for it to be Stranger Things, but the timing doesn't seem right.) -

Not really concerning the sets, but David Leitch has dropped out of the negotiations rather quickly due to creative differences. The worrying part of this news is that Universal isn't actually looking for an artist to make a cool movie, but a shooter to fast-forward its production. Get ready for more generic, soulless films. -

Saying "facts" like you can objectively state that a movie is bad. There's no objectivity in art (and don't give me the "blockbusters aren't art" gibberish). Couldn't care less about this movie, from what I've heard it sounds like another generic MCU movie, but you gatekeeping people from having an opinion is rather weird. -

That's literally a great deal, especially for a licensed set. If it was priced like most recent Star Wars or Marvel sets, you'd have to pay 500–600€ for that.- 686 replies

Bro said someone has poor taste and dismissed their opinion, and now he's getting mad that the other person responded with a sarcastic comment. Ironic.
