  1. Happy birthday guys!
  2. That looks like a fantastic place to go take a few days off visiting I find your lack of Minifigures interesting - so many of us (my self being a big one) love to collect and cram them in. It has been joked that I build not for the sake of building something cool - but to build something to showcase my figs But I like how you don't have figs - It makes this feel so ... homely ... like everyone is having a good time INSIDE the house, and not bothering hanging out on the outside. The cross hatching with the brown plates - BRILLIANT. Only suggestion I could make is maybe make the path slightly more interesting - normally I would suggest something like add more 1x1 round plates ... but I think you might be running low on them Alternatively maybe put a little border around it? Really great work.
  3. Absolutely lovely MOC. As everyone has said - it looks strong and sturdy. A nice safe harbour if necessary. Also props to the poor soul that has to shovel all that snow off the building
  4. This is an 'experiment' ? This is a slam dunk! Wow. Very nicely done. Lots of great ideas and techniques used here. The off set windows, the wall mosaics, colour use and blocking, even the DOOR is great! (though the latter could use a touch of colour - maybe a row of 1x1 pearl gold dots?) This is a great, unique, and wonderfully Kaliphlin building. Thanks for building it
  5. I almost stopped reading right there... But I'm glad I didn't! Great review. I really like how you took it from a Bat-Fan perspective.
  6. Very nice boat! But I love the base you built for the moc. it's so pretty to look at :) Also the minifig poses are well done. it has a real sense of ... "deployed and ready for action"
  7. Those shields work great here... It totally blends Mitgardian feel with Kaliphlin colours! Nice touch with the sword under the bed. It'll probably be hard with the limited bricks, but as Gabe mentioned - a little more build up would help. It's brick intensive, but ever so nice. Though given the collection, I think this was really well done!
  8. Nice! Glad to see you're coming back to the community. The Alien HQ is a good set, and you'll find that even the LEGO sets today are slightly more advanced than you may have remembered. As alluded to by others - float around here, and flickr etc and look at some of the stuff that's out there. If there's something cool you've seen that you don't know how the builder did it - ASK! We're all nice and most us would be more than happy to share how we did something And don't forget to share it with us here!
  9. Wow. The build is fantastic. Great details everywhere. The thing that I really love is the sense of SCALE. I don't recall the last time I saw a Minifig scale MOC of this size that feels so BIG. Very nicely done. And what a fantastic city to build it in
  10. Agreed. Sometimes the best way to get out of builders block is just to go build! One of my favourite MOCs I've built was a completely unplanned "oh let's start building rocks stairs" "Oh let's add a temple" "ohh let's add some water" etc etc and over a matter of two nights had a very cool MOC. When in doubt. Build!
  11. W. O. W. What a build. What a story. What an awesome place! ... though I have to know - did you have this all planned out before you built? or did you keep adding little sections as you went along?
  12. Happy Birthday Scouty!
  13. Apologies my good Lord, one too many mead and a few too many cookie crumbs in beard has distracted me from my proper spelling. While it was promised that no fatalities may come... I not sure if I trust the drow to ensure that no causalities in their ring...
  14. Forget the top three prizes. I want a Siercon and Coral built mini trophy.... Now THAT is cool.
  15. What a noble gesture by my fellow guilds-men, but I can not allow them risk their own Bard in this folly. Instead, I have instructed my master of arms to unleash Celine Deafon and Beiber the Monkey Released from the darkest mines of Kaliphlin, the most dangerous woman alive is unleashed for ONE NIGHT ONLY. To do battle in the Guilds of HIstorica Gladiatorial Games Armed with only her deadly and annoying singing voice she will use her siren screech to take down all who stand before. Her trusted cymbal playing monkey stands by her side and keeps time. TIME OF DEATH.
  16. Where are my manners? NEW TRAVELLERS! Welcome welcome welcome. It has been awhile, but we are always happy to have new faces in the south! Captain Xander Wraith it is a pleasure to meet you. We do not have many of those of the magik ways. Many of our people down here worship the mechnics. So it would be quite useful to have one such as yourself... as well as one who has knowledge of the inner workings of Nocturnus. But I get ahead of myself... first you and your wife come sit and have some mead, plenty of time to talk business later.... And might I say that is a mighty fine ship. I too have shipwrights currently working on several vessels - so I have a new found appreciation all things that sail... Saladus I do not believe Xander is defecting - he has stated his intention to join us many moons and pages ago. I suspect he just simply travelled abroad after Magik school to find himself ;) Dugal my friend, quite the lofty dreamer. I had plans of multiple consulates across our neighbours - but alas the sands of time are against me, and I worry if I can even erect one... But as for your specific problem - trees would be difficult, several options are presented already. might I suggest maybe no leaves? Throughout my travels, I have encountered some tress up in the north where the leaves have long fallen. And the trees are simply snow covered branches. Hardiel M'lad! Thanks for the update (and good luck in your classes). It is good that our various mummy clans are getting along. I know Rasputin would be happy to hear that production of more glass facilities are being well staffed! Lord Damaximus I look forward to seeing your grand city. Yes these are troubling times. While there is threat of war, rest assured as long as the High King sits on the throne, peace shall ensue. Those that cross the High King not only do they face the wrath of the attacked... but also the High King's army. Lord Shane, It is appreciated that you send in your personal Bard, but I can not allow you to risk your musician on such a folly. Instead I have instructed my master of arms to unleash Celine Deafon and Beiber the Monkey Released from the darkest mines of Kaliphlin, the most dangerous woman alive is unleashed for ONE NIGHT ONLY. To do battle in the Guilds of HIstorica Gladiatorial Games Armed with only her deadly and annoying singing voice she will use her siren screech to take down all who stand before. Her trusted cymbal playing monkey stands by her side and keeps time. TIME OF DEATH.
  17. Another great ship!I love the use of the various pieces of cloth. Really adds some nice smooth flow to it -while using existing LEGO pieces. Great job! ... So are those just Minotaruen? or are they warewolf-minotaruen? :P
  18. Stunning. Your Dragon (what little we can see of it) is awe inspiring. Your building is fantastic, but the dragon blows me away. [side note - I'm loving those BrickWarrior armour pieces. They really fit in.]
  19. Happy birthday guys!
  20. Puck magnet By ISC or someone else sneaky... Either due to my magnetic personality, or my propensity of getting hit in the head with a puck. And having the video to prove it.
  21. Day 1: S6-10 Before battle, the humble Centurion sits and mediates for the coming chaos ahead.... Day 3: S6-11
  22. 1. tatertots - 2 16. soundwave_sw - 2 14. Jameson42 - 1 Great job all!
  23. Interesting topic. I never really given it much thought... From my perspective I don't necessarily go off planning on creating worlds... but I seem to start steering towards that. Normally I would build a single MOC with no intentions of creating a 'world' but if I like that MOC I may add brothers and sisters to it and start growing that world... If the MOC doesn't really interest me any more I move on. Ironically the one world that breaks this rule is GoH - as we totally planned it as a world from the get go :P Sorry if I dip out of the Historical forum, but I have more Sci-Fi builds examples: I built the tank first, I liked the it so much I an APC and a slew of humvees. Similarly I built one ship... then a bunch of others: and again: This time culminating with a station: And while I don't always have extensive stories written up... I do have them in my head. Building gives time for the brain to wonder and create worlds for which all these things fit in. The one thing I haven't done - but have long wanted to is to tie in different themes into a single world... like some sort of corporation or illuminant type society that are present in Castle, City and SPACE!
  24. If only this would happen in real life... oh wait... This is a fantastic build. Clean. Clever. Amusing. That puts it as an awesome build in my books. Don't be down on your skills, this was well done - I couldn't have done better myself.
  25. Ah Drowl master, thank you for your "invitation" to your games. By courier I was delivered this actual note: I shall send my greatest singer to slay them all. I encourage those that have not to send forth your best. Master Cartographer Gex you could also use some 1x1 plates on some sort of snot, rotated 45 degrees - that looks really spiffy and hasn't been done much. There's also the old fashioned Grill brick. Tower Master Erudhalion Fantastic start - definitely going to be a great shape to the building. Hehe I love how you have all the figs watching the construction ;)
