  1. You ser, never cease to amaze me. I'm not sure what more I could possibly say that hasn't be said. Bravo.
  2. Congratulations! and is that LEGO I spy on the loot pile? ;)
  3. I am back! And so much to catch up on... I hope everyone had fantastic holidays showered with lots of LEGO and rest... cause now that we're in the new year, we have BUILDING to do! First, we have new comers! Rashad Nawfal! Welcome! I look forward to having you teach us about the mystic ways. New Carsvan welcome, but what name doth your leader go by? (Peppermint_M?) And I welcome you and whatever magikal wonders the Sans Serif can provide the guild. Your Temple/Way station warms my heart - it is good to see that help is being offered to one and to all. Places like this is what makes Kaliphlin strong (as well as our army ) Saladus How good to.... meet you.... for the first time. You are correct. We have never had any dealings or any prior connection. Nor have I ever heard of your 'Nähtamatu' nor their useful and beneficial interventions over the course of the Siccus Wastelands. I welcome you 'new' 'friend' to our ranks. I'm sure we shall do great things together, again. That is a fine ship Saladus, it is good to see the fine bark from Withering Woods used. I can tell from the pigment in the wood that you have used some of our Black Oil to further waterproof and seal your ship - a very Kaliphlin trait. Dugal That's an impressive city layout you have, I can't wait to see how the East Gate turns out. DUGAL! You did it! I had been struggling with how to build Lost Vega. Great build, now that we know that it is 100 miles *to the right* ... we may see some of Lost Vega soon enough... Though I believe there needs to be a few more gambling dens and other such 'fine' establishments Lord Damaximus , I believe Rasputin Jones has done a fantastic job answering your questions, if you are still unsure feel free to ask me personally. Also, you may have a point about where the TRUE location of Lost Vega is... while WE all in the guild know it's location and bask in it's wonders... perhaps we should not put it on the map, lest our enemies try to exploit it. Master Cartographer Another fantastic map paintings you have produced. I particularly like the actual scale. Makes me think and dream BIG Actually those blown up maps are gorgeous you should look into making posters ;) .... ... ... Would anyone else be actually interested in getting some full sized Kaliphlin poster made when we're all said and done? ... I have also amended the first page with 'Rules of building' - based on your suggestions. I'm thinking of using the reserved 3rd post in this thread (stupid B&W taking the 2nd post...) as a consolidation of ALL the town/local back stories... though this will take a while to recompile everything that has been said in the last ~ 500 odd posts ;) so this is longer term project. Kcaj Great description of Samrd'dha - I'm actually really enjoying everyone's ideas and stories behind Kaliphlin. Makes for some great reading and inspiration! Also you have found yourself a great little oasis, I myself grew up near such an oasis but alas, it was towards the Withering Woods, so the plants weren't as plentiful. Shale Great start to pushing our influences into the Darklands. The murky water below is fantastic and memorizing... keep up the good work Rasputin Jones your seemingly cluttered builds never cease to amuse me. Your mocs are so crammed and layered ... I can't just help but smile when I see them Dugal and Damaximus - Great work on Kaligem - If I had known you were such a storyteller, I would have enlisted you earlier to help with our earlier works. Also appreciated is the work of our recruiters, helping out some of our new travellers into the fold - you know who you are, and you have my thanks. To everyone else keep up the fantastic job, and let's spread the Kaliphlin guild to all corners of Historica!
  4. That's probably right... Junk in my trunk ... based on last hits on my profile page ... I'm going to guess twas the work WhiteFang. No idea where the name comes from .... but I suspect WhiteFang was stalking me again. I'm guessing ISC again, I mentioned possibly building a Chinese style Junk ship. (Thanks to Detective Ricey for breaking this case)
  5. Oh wow what an expected early Christmas present! Once again thanks for running the contest. Truely a great showing of awesome batman mocs!
  6. I said this in the guild forum, but I think it needs repeating. This tower is absolutely stunning. The size and DETAIL is increadible. I also know how quickly you out this together - which blows my mind even further. And those mini catapults are adorable. PS - well get some fosters in the guild hall and make you feel more at home!
  7. Really great tower. The tower top, fence and the waterfalls are my fav part - though when I first saw the picture i before reading the description I thought it was frozen lol Oh and the little swimmer is great!
  8. I like the concept and fun of having ships try to sneak by (I know I would) But I curious why you revived this 3yr moc? One of the reasons to create the guilds was to try to inspire people to get excited about building again. So why not take the skills you have aquired in the last three years and build an even better customs house (with less dust! Lol) I look forward to you update!
  9. Fantastic farm! The story and execution of you building is really well done... So are we going to see a moc about the time he spent with the bear?
  10. Wow! You certainly have thought things through. I can't wait to see how many of these you can build! Its quite the undertaking - but don't forget - quality not quantity!
  11. Great idea... I think we were all surprised and stoked at how much we were able to build in a short month and a bit. A flickr group would preseve this for prosperity. For kaliphlin folks we also have our own group: http://www.flickr.com/groups/kaliphlin/
  12. Lord Damaximus we welcome such a seasoned veteran as you. I look forward to visiting Mpya Stedor and meeting you and your men! Welcome welcome. Pagan Yes! you can still join! - The more the merrier, we welcome one and all (except for the Drow). Peppermint_M we would love to welcome such a distinguished magi as yourself. we humbly await your unveiling! Velethuil - What wonderful companions you have. that Dwarf is particularly fun - looks like my type of dwarf! Rasputin Excellent organizational skills! I'm loving the flickr group. Don't forget to join everyone: http://www.flickr.com/groups/kaliphlin/ and of course there's the general Guilds of Historica one now too: http://www.flickr.com/groups/1822940@N24/ Wahil Yes - I plan on doing the same thing - one free build and one competition (I may not be able to officially enter - but I can still build it!) though that may fluctuate based on ideas I have floating up in my nogg'n. Hersbrucker That is a wonderful building I can't wait to see what our Werewolf friends will be building beside it! Master Cartographer Gex, your maps never cease to amaze me. Another fine addition - I'm really liking how the our little world is getting flushed out. I'm starting to feel antsy about finding a little place for myself.... though I do intend to try to build everywhere... so watch out! Kcaj good to have you back, I hope your travels were well. I myself will be taking my own trip today. I shall be back soon and may send a griffen or two to keep in touch with you all. Erudhalion I know how you feel about coming up with names... you don't want to know how long I spent coming up with those original names... but Kcaj is dead on - I used his trick to come up with some of the names... Siccus is 'dry' in Latin. Yes redundant, but sounds cool ;)
  13. Wow that's a brilliant build. Tons of fantastic detail - I can't believe you were able to cram so much sport merchandise! Great job!
  14. Well then. I'm not sure what to say - We started a bit slow but what a finish. By my count we have 20 towers, second best showing of the four guilds. The Avalonian powerhouse has 28 towers. but almost twice our numbers. Over all we are just shy of 80 towers total built. And that's NOT including all the free builds. You my friends - are truely magnificent. I haven't seen this type of building since... well ever. The quality, uniqueness and ability everyone has shown has really been a surprise to me. All I can do is offer my thanks (and maybe a token prize), and encouragement! The towers shall be judged and results be available in a few weeks (even guild leaders have holidays!) The High King Draconian has decreed his next challenge - Embassy (and or consulates ) in foreign lands! So go forth and build one! or two! or three! or even four Embassies! ... wait the last one doesn't make sense.
  15. HAHAHA that's awesome. No more dog bites for Santa!
  16. Congrats everyone. Definitely some fantastic mocs all around. Great job. I'll see you next Bat-Time in the next Bat-Contest!
  17. Pacman? no no no. That's Cap-man. an uncopywrited character who gets chased around by spirits. Hehe the boy is me!
  18. B-OV-23D I had a very hard time coming with with a concept for this contest - usually I have ideas of what I want to build for contests- but run out of time/skill to do it. I kept trying to build like the LEGO villages - buildings/vehicles that had some strong nostalgic value to me - but couldn't really find anything. So I decided to go back to square one and focus things I really enjoyed in winter - not buildings or cars - but the out doors. I present the Winter Festival: Celebration of outdoors fun. 1) Fresh waffles (or Beaver Tails) out in the cold outside. Nothing like pipp'n hot snack with hot chocolate after a day of playing outside 2) The skating rink - man made or preferably natural - skating is like floating on clouds. but with ginsu knives strapped to your feat. 3) The crankity old man that rents out the skates - in case you didn't have your own 4) Ice sculptures! Cause in Canada, it's cold enough to actually have them outside (at least it used to be).
  19. hahah I didn't now we could use real snow ;) very nice effect though - that coco stand is brilliant! I wish I thought of it ;) Good luck!
  20. Great colour scheme. and that old timey camera is fantastic - great use of the cape!
  21. Thanks for the comment guys - I laughed a lot while building this - glad you liked it. Of course I'll share! what part are you interested in? most of the moc is fairly simple stud up design. he slight bend in the fireplace is achieved with a bunch of tan jumper plates (Tower bridge ) I used some different modified bricks to give the fire place some interesting design (in retrospect I should have pulled a castle trick and do some plates for bricks...). Santa is a bit harder - it's am odified 2x2 cubeman face, the 'mouth' is sitting on jumper plate on the body. some standard snot bricks are used to put the slope curves for tummy... and the legs are just placed there. anything else you wanted to know in particular? or a explosion shot?
  22. great first moc! I like the 'bulkiness' of it. It makes the whole thing feel imposing - and not something I would attack :P Though I think the lack of minifigures really starts to throw off the sense of scale a bit - not that that's a bad thing - certainly is interesting.
  23. While Santa's primary responsibilities include delivery and list twice-checking, he also participates in the elves' Quality control program. They have devised a simple method of impact testing on Nut Cracker toys. Each batch of Nut Crackers are tested against ballistic impacts before packing and shipment. Santa takes a little cookie and milk break after a tough frame. [santa frame based on Ricecracker's design]
  24. That's a great baby! :) Though I think you should have put in 2 more wise travellers ;)
  25. Is there an interior ? With the colouring scheme it like there's a there's a elf or a gnome or a fairy at work here... that upper part of the house is awfully suspicious looking... what secrets does it hold?!?! hehe the logs and the kitty are my favourite part. Though I think it'd be funnier if the kitty was chasing the chickens.
