  1. January, eh? Well.. where's the trailer at
  2. Nah, ninja are supposed to be eternally teenagers. Hagemans have gone on record saying the show wouldn't work if they "had dad-bods".
  3. I just assumed the leakers did it on purpose. Well, they did confirm one of the new characters is the princess of Ninjago, so yeah.
  4. Well.. as you said: The reason him being not there may have implied that, but the next season they made the reason for that being that he learned to become invisible. Or, at least that's what Tommy Andreasen said. Yes, they are not only the same characters, but they are characters, and thus, their designs can be altered on a whim. If the designs aren't concrete, that kinda just gives credence to the theory that they were altered by the timey-wimey ball. And we still literally saw Lloyd transform into his elderly self before our eyes. Green eyes, sure, he unlocked a new power, but not the other stuff. I'm just saying, I think their design changes are just a bit too drastic to be simple aging (eyebrows, mouths, facial details). And I just can't reason a way for them to change so much in the span of a year (when surely at least two years have passed in the span of the show already) that doesn't sound like a bit of a stretch. Like.. Kai has his movie scar now. Did the mark on his eyebrow jump sides? They're thinner, did he pluck his eyebrows? Eh, I guess we'll just have to wait and see how and if they'll handle flashbacks, or references to the old looks. If they actually bother to animate new ones anyway. Maybe a potential "Season 8 Classic Kai" would have his current face, but without a scar and with the old spiky hair.
  5. Or.. it could be because of time travel. Hair is fine, but the more drastic things can be time travel. But, it doesn't have to because of them literally being older. Time travel can be the in-universe explanation, but their design changes can represent the show and characters being a bit more mature. Jay's comment is supposed to be a joke that they have changed and Cole is right, but neither of them can actually know that. You mean that the designs are changing, or that they "aren't"? Personally I just think time travel is a smoother way of explaining it away. "Change one thing, change everything". We know what the ninja are supposed to look when they're older (reflections, Old Man Lloyd), and "they had makeovers but then changed back" just sounds clunky over "time has literally been altered".
  6. Logically they'd have been in their mid-teens in the beginning and late teens now.
  7. Well.. they're not really "directly" talking about their changes because, as Cole says, they wouldn't even be aware they had changed, and they aren't. It's a tongue-in-cheek explanation, but an explanation nonetheless. Besides, it's only been one year and they're still just teenagers, and "time travel mumbo jumbo" covers the weirder things like Jay's hair changing color, or their new face details. And the future reflections, which are clearly their original designs aged up. Did you look at the sneak peek?
  8. I'm just glad they didn't try to convince us this is them "growing up". Just a minor time travel induced retcon.
  9. Pretty sure we've seen Kai's Spinjitzu figure, but not his actual outfit.
  10. Batman.. with the Joker?
  11. I thought funny Garmadon was Season 2 Garmadon.
  12. Maybe the resurrection process was interrupted or imperfect, or something. They're probably not going to have Garmadon running around looking like the undead for the rest of the series, so I've got a feeling he won't last very long.
  13. I'd prefer if they just said the ninjas were updated. I don't think the redesigns have to be explained necessarily, I'm more annoyed that the excuse they go with is that they're "growing up" when they're not (besides Lloyd) and everyone just buys it and comes up with semi realistic explanations that are just.. slightly reaching in a show that runs on Rule of Cool
  14. The LEGO Movie 2 - Lord Business is actually Emmet's father, and they try to bond awkwardly The Billion Brick Race - Crossover with all the LEGO movies with father issues from all, and the human part is a kid dealing with his relationship with his absentee father who is a NASCAR racer
  15. Yes, yes, I know, there are plenty of possible explanations, but I'm more concerned with the fact the changes don't feel like organic developments that represent the characters' growth. I'm talking in a meta sense, not in-universe.. where things happen because of meta reasons because it's a cartoon. When time-skips happen and characters grow up, they still generally keep their signature traits, but Jay's literally swapping his own for another version of himself, whose own appearance compliments his own personality, but doesn't necessarily fit show Jay's. And again freckles usually represent youth.. so a character who is already in his late teens gaining them to show aging is a little odd! And may I mention that the characters aren't even actually aging much if at all.. And then there's Kai's scar switching sides. And the gigantic elephant in the room that are the future reflections. Ultimately, the changes are simply because of brand synergy with the movie.. and I doubt they put near as much thought as fans do into their implementation into the show's canon (nor did they actually have a choice in the matter). Heck, even Lloyd. He doesn't have a new voice actor because he hit puberty.. he has one because they wanted him to sound more like Dave Franco.
  16. But their movie counterparts are younger... how does Jay gaining freckles show he aged? That's supposed to be a sign of youth.. They all look younger than they already did before. Looks like SamX's identity's been leaked. It was pretty obvious.
  17. What's there to gain if the foreign audience saves it though? They most likely won't make a sequel though. Either way it's bad if the foreign box office is nearly half of it's total.. at it's current amount.
  18. I just bookmarked the "sonsofgarmadon" tag on Instagram.
  19. What function does the skirt serve Nya though? Besides making it obvious she's a girl.
  20. Great, direct to DVD sequel confirmed
  21. Lloyd isn't a hybrid, he's as close to the movie design as the show's style can allow. Only difference is that his mouth doesn't move fluidly.
  22. Weird, Zane had his Titanium face on the promo art.
  23. I think I might have been too dismissive before. Yes, "less people are going to the theaters", but do you think it's the only factor that caused the numbers to be as low as they are? It's being compared to the other LEGO movies because.. it's a LEGO Movie! It's a part of a franchise. Either way, it doesn't really matter what caused it, poor advertising, unfavorable word of mouth, or whatever. Unlike, the others, it's based off a lesser known property, and it failed to attract enough people in spite of everything against it. It's making its budget back at a snail's pace, it's lowered confidence in the LEGO Movie brand, and another LEGO Ninjago theatrical movie is looking financially inadvisable.
  24. Maybe the movie should have been put off to Feb. 2018. More time to work on it, and it'd match the others.
