No, the 300 millions and 170 millions are final box-office numbers. The others were in the hundred millions at this point in their time in theaters. Either way, it's underperforming compared to what was expected of it, and making people question the value of the LEGO Movie franchise.
-
But the previous ones came out in February.

Looking at BoxOfficeMojo, the LEGO Ninjago Movie is significantly lower than the other movies were at this point in theaters. The others were in the hundred millions, but the LEGO Ninjago Movie is in the 30 millions.

Oh, wow, it didn't even cross my mind how the Good Morning America thing would go over in foreign audiences.

I would not have minded waiting another year, or several months as long as they had enough time to fix things. Smarter writing, better editing, more cohesion, all could have made it better. It's a shame, so many things could be improved in a sequel, but I suppose it'd be financially a bad idea. We'll never see these new takes on the characters again. Well, maybe as cameos or side characters in the next movies, but not in a substantial way.

Well.. they were working on a movie and having fun. That's just what actors do.

Ninjago is niche as hell, even if everything was identical to the TV show and it was so deeply entrenched into the lore and fully canon to the show, the Ninjago fanbase going to see it would not have been able to save the movie (95% of which did anyway). It would have made the movie even more alienating to the average movie-goer/potential fan. What would have made it successful is if it was: Advertised better, enticing more people older than 11 into going to watch it. Written better, leading to better word of mouth spreading, and it not having a 51 on Rotten Tomatoes. I think you're projecting a bit about the actors. But the movie increasing viewership is looking increasingly unlikely. Not like CN bothered to have a Ninjago marathon to celebrate the movie's release, or they're doing much to remind people the show exists. The scores the movie got just make it look worse, and the show's not exactly boasting awards either.

Speaking of the Great Devourer: What if in a sequel, the ninja fight the Great Devourer.. except it's a live action snake. It will never happen, but still. Could've been interesting.
-
Huh.. I don't think the ninja ever used their weapons.
-
^The scores on Rotten Tomato, but spoilered cuz the pic is big. I.. really thought the audience score would be higher.

I just saw it, and I think it was okay. Not a lot of focus on anyone but Lloyd and Garmadon though. Really, the other ninja aren't developed at all, and sometimes they felt interchangeable outside of their "quirks". Especially Kai and Cole. There's a part where a scene is reused almost shot for shot. Sometimes it'd seemed like some scenes went on too long for padding purposes. I didn't hear many laughs in the theater I went to, but there weren't many people there.

Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitsu TV Show Thread
GarmaFan replied to Lance's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Nah, the goal was to attract more fans. "Fans" meaning kids. Kids will like it. They'll buy the toys and watch the show. That's all that matters in the end. The people who would be turned away by the.. well, god-awful reviews wouldn't be interested in the show anyway. We'll just have to see how the audience reacts.- 4,591 replies

I'm starting to think the movie-esque redesigns might not have been the best idea.- 4,591 replies

Great, so the LEGO Movie franchise will be ran into the ground.. awesome.
-
52% on Rotten Tomatoes, 54% on Metacritic. And RT is usually the more generous one.. This is incredibly disappointing, I was really hoping that being in the LEGO Movie franchise would give Ninjago something critically acclaimed to its name.. or at least not THIS bad, I thought it'd 60s-70s at worse. I think I liked "that one lesser known lego ninja cartoon" better than "that cash-grab lego ninja movie that was the worst of the LEGO movies, and the show it was based off of".
-
So... what does this mean for the LEGO Movie franchise?
-
You're right.. because it seems to keep getting lower. Jeez, it was 80-something earlier..
-
Pretty sure there's references to both in the movie. Wasn't there a thing where Nya said her heroes were Wildstyle, Batgirl, and Unikitty?
-
I think, therefore I am. Real question is, how can you be sure you're not imagining me?
-
I'm confused how the Lego Movie universe works.. is it an actual universe that's connected to the real world, or just imagination?
-
The one about the making of The Room?
-
Eh, I'm okay with that.

Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitsu TV Show Thread
GarmaFan replied to Lance's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Yeah, but he's almost certainly going to come back. And they're going to explain his powers more, so it seems like something that would be brought up. Unless they explain it in the same way they "explained" the """"finer mechanics"""" of elemental powers in Season 7.. which was almost not at all.- 4,591 replies

Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitsu TV Show Thread
GarmaFan replied to Lance's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
It makes sense, but this really should've been something introduced really early on.. now if he starts using Fire, Earth, Ice, and Lightning people are going to wonder why he didn't do it before. If he uses Water it wouldn't make sense because the elements that create a Tornado of Creation are th original 4.- 4,591 replies

If they're going to make the show more similar to the movie, then they'll probably just make Creation the power of the four elements.. and Water, maybe.- 4,591 replies
