Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitsu TV Show Thread
GarmaFan replied to Lance's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Because of the song they used in the trailer, I've been thinking that that the aesop of the movie is that it's sometimes it's best to cut toxic people out of your life, and that Garmadon would never be redeemed. I'd prefer to get a LEGO Movie!Good Garmadon, but it'd be an interesting development. After Lord Business, making him a good guy would probably feel like a re-thread to anyone only familiar with the movies. i.e. most critics.- 4,591 replies

Dang, I hoped that the dragon would be an actual dragon, but it looks like it's a mech. But, I guess it would be out of place. -
I miss the rib pattern Garmadon used to have, but right now, I'm just amazed by the fact that he has a freaking TEN PACK.

Too young? Jackie Chan is 62 years old.

Please don't tell me Zane is going to be smiling like an idiot for the whole movie..

Phew! That's a relief.. Eh.. the last synopsis that mentioned it came out, like, the weekend. They probably just didn't see the space to mention it.

Justin Theorux was talking about movie Garmadon..

Because they're the first things that are immediately noticeable. -
Well, now that I think about it, that screen cap was probably chosen because the characters' expressions match up with their character descriptions. Jay's the comic-relief in the show, but looks like he's gonna be the awkward nerd in this. Zane's description is just "robot". So... dang, looks like they're setting him up for that role. The robot's always the comic-relief in movies, I guess? Maybe the comedy will be him acting like he did in the pilot and Season 1, with him reacting strangely to things and not understanding human behavior very well. I'd sure hope so.. because him trying to be funny would be odd.

I'm pretty much okay with all of them besides Zane. Not really a fan of Cole's hair either. But still, they all fit their character archetypes, so that's good.
-
Still very different from the show, but, looking at them on their own, I'd say that they're pretty good designs that show their personalities. I like all the costumes, but Zane's looks too.. rectangular.

Fingers crossed the trailer comes out this weekend! So.. now he has a new suit. Though I do wonder about the logistics of Lloyd looking like his TV counterpart in the LEGO Movie, but is different in the LEGO Ninjago Movie. I guess he got new clothes. Or old clothes... could the LEGO Ninjago Movie be before the LEGO Movie?

Odd that Spinjitzu hasn't been mentioned yet..

I don't think that I like the choice of music for these character spots..- 4,591 replies

I think after a certain point they're just saying the same dialogue as the original. Like, after Tommy Andreasen's intro.- 4,591 replies

The animation looks odd at times, but there's definitely a lot more going on visually. Among other things, I like how it actually shows the mannequins falling apart instead of just having them fall down, leaving an oddly placed shattering noise even though nothing indicates shattering, and turn into the ghost and float away. It's a small detail, but it's the small things that count. The lighting is a lot better, too. I wouldn't mind much if this animation studio took over for the show. Especially since the show seems to be becoming more.. plastic-looking as time goes on. It'd need to be a lot more polished though.- 4,591 replies

It could be that the face on the box art is just a generic ninja, and doesn't actually represent a specific character besides the ninja as a whole. -

Maybe it's... mind is female? What if the Preeminent used to be a demi-god like the First Spinjitzu Master, but instead of created a world within a realm, she became a realm? What if.. the Preeminent and the First Spinjitzu Master were in a relationship.. what if the Preeminent was Garmadon and Wu's mother?!- 4,591 replies

Well, either way we're back where we started. I do hope XVL turns out to be that character though. The colors aren't indicative of anyone in particular though.. weird, usually once we see the sets it isn't that hard to find out any secret identities. Samurai X had Nya's face on the back, the Green Ninja was clearly Lloyd and the show gave up on hiding it in episode 4..- 4,591 replies

I've surprised we haven't gotten one yet, so.. that sounds like a good bet.

Doesn't seem that likely considering they're already centuries old by the time of the Serpentine War, and the Time-Blades seem to have only came into existence/gained their powers after that. If anything, their aging sped up after that, but the Time Blades ended up lost to time at the end of the battle with the twins. Good chance that the reason they age slowly is because they're the sons of the FSM. It doesn't really complicate when Lloyd was born, it's still the same as it's always made the most sense for it to be. According to TA, he was 9-11 in Rise of the Snakes, so.. 9-11 years before that. As for when they started aging, for Wu that would probably be sometime during that decade between the Battle Between Brothers, and the pilot. For Garmadon, that would be when he was cured of his evil in Rise of the Spinjitzu Master, considering as a Lord, he looked exactly the same as he did when he was banished, four arms aside. The "when" is pretty easy to figure out, the "why" is still up in the air..- 4,591 replies
