Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitsu TV Show Thread

Meta-wise, it makes sense the writers want to use it to keep the door open to explore more realms in future seasons. In-universe-wise, the characters try to destroy it after the slightest inconvenience (and didn't seem too broken up about it when it actually was shattered). The heroes don't seem to have any interest in exploring realms outside of Ninjago. So after the third time the Realm Crystal causes them trouble, and the second time their goal is actively to destroy it, it's going to be harder to understand why they don't just do it before the next time a realm crossing villain pops up.- 4,591 replies

First two episodes are out, I think it's safe to say that summer sets aren't for the Oni so far, and the "not enough content for sets" theory is right.
-
Well.. could've made an Overlord Dragon..
-
Season 10 is the end of the arc involving the Oni. Kind of worried there won't be time for them to have much personality.
-
Oni are apparently just in the accessory pack, and the summer is something new. Or at least, before the pack was revealed, I recall people (with special secret leak access) saying there was no sign of them in the summer?

The guy with the large horns is allegedly the main antagonist.

First, official proof is nice, second.. I wonder, who is this "Samurai" and why were they important enough to get a spinner over Nya or Cole?

Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitsu TV Show Thread

I mean, I wouldn't say it would be entirely out of nowhere, since what allowed him to return to Ninjago back in Season 2 was Garmadon tipping the balance of light and darkness in Ninjago far enough in darkness's favor, and if what we've seen in the trailer is any indication, the return of the Oni themselves could potentially do that just as well as Garmadon himself did (whereas most other past villains haven't been as overtly darkness-themed or had the same specific ambitions of extinguishing the light that was the First Spinjitzu Master's legacy). Is it darkness being in favor in general that brings him back, or darkness being in his favor? His darkness is part of Ninjago's balance, but the Oni are from outside of Ninjago. I just mean, even if they are very similar, it seems weird he hasn't at least been directly referred to by name.- 4,591 replies

Pretty sure they don't start referring to the passage of time with actual numbers until Sons of Garmadon.

A season isn't a wave. The show and the sets aren't the same. The set releases are called waves. By that logic, how does that work for the Stone Army season coming out in the second half of 2012 (even though the whole year was snakes), while the sets for it came out in 2013? Because "Season 2" and "Season 3" came out in the same year are they both a 26 episode Season 2? How could the season be in 2013 when it didn't come out in 2013? Maybe they did once, but they've solidified how they're numbered now.

I mean.. DoD was always meant to be a holiday special, not a season. That's why it doesn't factor into the episode count. That raises the question why four episodes is enough to be called a season. And the pilot episodes were split into four online. They've been called the pilot season and Season 0.
-
Because there's officially only ten seasons, not eleven seasons.

Technically, the Skeletons were from the pilot

The Overlord is the living embodiment of Ninjago's darkness, he isn't an Oni. He's a spirit that rose from the shadows. With no build up or mention of him these past seasons, it would be weird to shove him in there alongside a new group of villains in only four episodes.- 4,591 replies

Was hoping there'd be more variety to them than them all having the same torso..

We know there's a season's worth of content left in the year. If the summer wave is about the Oni, then when will the summer season get sets?

The only Oni Mask there is the Mask of Hatred, the others just have weird snake heads.- 4,591 replies

It would be a mess if each wave was from now on was about the previous season now because Legacy threw things off. What's next, the 2020 winter sets are about Season 11? What if there's another Legacy? The summer sets will probably be about whatever's coming out at the time, and apparently Oni haven't been seen yet. What's likely is that there isn't much new content (location/vehicle/weapon-wise) in Season 10 for sets.
