There was a list stating the amount of batteries each set with PF will require. 42083 was not on the list.

That is absolutely insane... should this be in the SMF?

On the other hand, that catalog is very revealing. For instance, we now know that 42083 has no power functions and 42080 does. We also now know that there are 4 (!) powered trains? I assume the link would be removed so if you want the link PM me?

The style is what is similar. Exactly the same in fact. But the cars do look very different and a side-by-side pic would be nice Great Car @Xewyz2001!

Update: I have rebuilt the steering mechanism and added the front bodywork. Now, the steering mode gets controlled by a lever in the cab, which I think is great. That's all- comment below!

Not sure how that would help, but an interesting solution nonetheless. I have rebuilt the steering, and the solution is somewhat like that but not so close to the articulation point.

Looks like a very nice start! I see how you got stuck with it though. I assume to switch modes the axle with the 20z gears would slide?

Very nice @efferman ! But I'm not sure I like those rear fenders. Could you use something other than those angles panels? They do not fuse well with the body.
