Very clever. Would be great if the pods come in tinted colors in the future, could make a great space station

What kind of fascist hellhole even has the police turn up for someone opening a $4 packet?

[Opinion] Review of the new road plates system (2021)
Merlict replied to The Lego Room's topic in LEGO Town
Yeah totally agree. I'm been grabbing 16x16 plates whenever I see em cheap.. it takes a LOT to do a whole city! But it gives you so many more options for rearranging buildings, basements and sewers, even a subway would be amazing I'd buy so many baseplate sized plates. -
Good stuff, didn't realize how big it was til that comparison! Have you tried different (rendered ofc) colors for the roof? Maybe blue or red, since it's a lot of browns and muted colors right now

Lucasfilm: Willow (1988) Tir Asleen Castle 🏰 [LEGO IDEAS]
Merlict replied to MasterStud's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This is really good. Great renders, details and the hydra is very good for brick built My only negative is some of the faces. The short guy in particular looks rather terrifying- 15 replies

Looks great! I personally thing the real thing is an ugly brick but you got 99% of the details at a small size Might look better if you swapped the plain yellow for a warmer color ( Bright Light Orange for example)

[Opinion] Review of the new road plates system (2021)
Merlict replied to The Lego Room's topic in LEGO Town
Dear god no. It's very easy to forget how many Lego builders are kids or casual fans who will never post on a Lego forum or social media, or even know BL exists. Heck it's probably a fraction of 1% of Lego fans use Bricklink. -
Not sure if you're new to Trains, but non-Lego parts are happily accepted here. Lots of threads about third party rails, wheels etc around.

[LEGO IDEAS] "Fortress of Hunyadi" by Zsolti (@MyFirstMoc)
Merlict replied to Mister Phes's topic in Pirate MOCs
Very clever. Love how modular it is and how that inspires people to modify or expand it. I do feel the walls are a bit bland though. Maybe add some banners, different stone colors etc -
I really like this. My Ikea was sold out of these neat boxes though!

Pretty weak rebuttal m8. Those are things that you'd see in.. a real city. Heck even my small yokel hometown had an Indian and Chinese restaurants.

We want the amazing 60278 Crook's Hideout Raid!
Merlict replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Town
Is it really amazing though? The vehicles have all been done 99999 times (and recently too), dark red is nice but I really can't get excited by this one. Let alone begging for it lol- 21 replies

I disagree, there's no reason we couldn't have a Chinese restaurant, or some Ramen stands. Maybe a small temple or uh.. whatever those gateways you see over Chinatown districts, in a City playset scale. Lego city people have got to be sick of pizza by now.

LEGO Ideas Comes Through - The Train Station: Studgate
Merlict replied to Feuer Zug's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I mean I'd say that if you can't even get 10k votes on Ideas (Big difference than actually putting your money down for an order!) then your set just isn't that popular or in demand -
Love it! Think it needs another bright contrasting color on the outside, the sign text in particular. Maybe red or orange.

I would love to know how much they paid for Bricklink. I imagine the price was tiny as a % of total operations. So I don't imagine worrying about undermining or cannibalizing BL profits would have much effect on other choices they make going forward.

That cam mechanism is very clever, it even looks like a transmission tunnel running through the cabin With the tiny wheels and that windscreen it reminds me of Spongebob's boat-car a bit haha
-
I don't love the pale yellow, but man that interior is fantastic. So much to look at and enjoy. 6400 parts on a roughly regular size modular, wow!

REVIEW: 10295 Porsche 911 Turbo/Targa
Merlict replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Overall pretty good but.. I feel it's a bit oversized. They've really outgrown those wheels, especially with the chunky truck tires and tiny rims. Love the interior (apart from the dials.. lazy mistake), engine and rear end. Overall I prefer the Arvo Bros version, which would look great with the new printed parts and silver 5 spokes! -
Nougat is such an under rated Lego color haha
-
What you can do it use Rebrickables build features. So you enter Friends and Big Bang as the sets you have, and it can subtract those parts from the total list of Berthil's MOC
-
Pretty cool. Some great custom vehicle like the fire truck Kinda feel like it needs something round the outside to break up the big expanse of plain roads though, maybe a pedestrian overpass or some tall streetlights?
