Is Creator's Three-In-One Line Underappreciated by AFOLs?
Merlict replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Nooooooope, not for me. The lack of huge / specialized pieces is the best thing about these sets imo. So sick of all the specialized pieces in City that make every set look samey (ie that godforsaken helicopter canopy) As to more pieces, I think they struggle to come up with builds that use all the parts well above the 500 piece mark. Cruising Adventures for example the C build uses far less than half the blocks. I quiet like the theme as is, but I'd like to see more non-City style larger sets. Especially for orphaned themes like Castle or Pirates, where you could do really fun stuff without the cost of supporting a full lineup.- 55 replies

[MOC] Bud Spencer & Terence Hill with Puma dune buggy
Merlict replied to Versteinert's topic in LEGO Town
>I think, everybody knows these two cult movie actors and probably this cult car as well. So I don't have to introduce them any further. You thought wrong. I've never heard of them and I doubt many Ideas viewers would have either. -
To me the kit looks much more like a F35 with the single rounded exhaust and upper hatches, which do have the option of external weapons.

Oh man, now I know my favorite windshield is available in my favorite color! I do agree that the body of the truck is maybe a plate too high but this whole scene is rad.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Merlict replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Man I wish you could set B&P to alert you when things come in stock! So many great parts with no stock, and I can't check the contents of 10+ sets every week. -
I don't know what to call it except a really useful part!

[MOC] Breaking Bad Skyline Architecture
Merlict replied to MOMAtteo79's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Don't know why this didn't get any comments, pretty creative. Love that pizza on the roof. I think the lab is a bit weak, the laundry is hard to read it throws out the scale. -
This is my favorite, looks great. The ninja swords stick out a bit though, I think a more generic rod shape would be better

The yacht looks a big grim in stormy gray, without the sunbathers it could pass for a warship! But that reef and display mechanism, pure genius.

That's awesome, especially that clock tower. Could probably do with some signage to indicate what's in the storefronts. What's the technic connector on the back for?

That's rad, hope those mudgaurds become more common I would have guessed more a Renault 5 Turbo without the title I think

Pity you can't embed the video in the post, almost missed it! Surprised the chain drive works so well on such a crazy steep hill

I don't think there's a disparity. You simply get more for each extra dollar on small sets, the price to 'value' ratio isn't linear. That and Speed Champs tends to have a lot of small / simple pieces. I'd love to know how much they pay for licencing on these (and Star Wars etc) sets though!

Looks great! What are the curve pieces used for the roof called please?

REVIEW: 80101 Chinese New Year's Eve Dinner
Merlict replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Seems kind of ridiculous that this set has 9 (10?) new printed pieces for the table alone, while other theme labor along with ancient / inappropriate prints or stickers -
Man that Mercy face is just disgraceful. With the prices they're charging that just isn't on. Quite like the rocket, with bigger wings / more detail that could almost pass for it's own space set.
-
Love the sign and the facade. Don't think it would really work as a commercial set. But very cool anyway.
-
Just use small tacks, so you don't poke great big holes in the surface and it can all be easily moved.

Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!
Merlict replied to Darth_Legois's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Myer is having the usual buy one , get one 50% off on Boxing Day David Jones has 20% off toys.. but seems to have left out most of the good Lego. -
Those colors, aww yiss Because every builder on the planet doesn't drive an orange or bright yellow truck. Not sure about the cement mixer though, uses too many parts / too fiddly for a 'play' set but that's just me.

A great review of a rather meh set. Maybe I've been spoiled by better MOCs, but a 6 wide passenger vehicle really needs to be careful with proportions. The tiny windscreen and narrow passenger compartment don't work with the big Caddillac looking front end.
