Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
This looks amazing, but it's very hard to display it like that and as @Terrasher points out, you can't make out the details But it's great they're offering it as an option -

The pattern so far is a D2C set every second year. Of course such patterns only exist in our heads (there‘s no official rule mandating that after all, just look at the recently leaked Batwing which breaks both the DC and Marvel D2C schedules), but I still don‘t expect it to change all of a sudden Unless a rumour to the contrary shows up, I don‘t think we’ll see the next D2C set before autumn 2022. -

I wouldn‘t worry too soon First off, we don‘t know its price point (if Gringotts gets released next year in the first place, but I‘m optimistic). For all we know, it could be 150$. Secondly, it doesn‘t have to include tracks, it could just be the front, the dragon, one or two cash desks and part of the vault. Or just the front and the dragon, works for me too Lastly, they could split the set into two individual ones and release the dragon, tracks, and Bellatrix‘ vault as its own set. Not exactly all that realistic, but you never know. Whatever it ends up being, I think after the last 3 years we can trust the designers to do it justice -

It pretty much has to be since it’d be quite silly to release a Gringotts set in the same year where the focus shifts to DH and NOT base it on one of the bigger set pieces in DH Part 2 The only thing that worries me is the size The Ukrainian Ironbelly would have to be included, which would take up quite a lot of pieces I think, so this would have to be well beyond 100$ to fit in scale-wise. -

I meant it would‘ve been a huge surprise today if we didn‘t already know about the Harry minifig It‘s not often we learn about a new figure in a set that was already leaked BTW, check out the review by @Ashnflash who also shows some of the ways you can display the set -

It‘s part of the set and includes the parts to build the secret stand + PS Harry minifig It‘s an amazing idea I think! Too bad it was spoiled by the leak in July -

I wonder why the stand + PS Harry are being kept a secret... Sure, the set has enough selling points as is, but I‘ve never heard of a set including a bonus build + minifig that aren‘t shown anywhere on the box or in official images I‘m not complaining though, imagine finding something like that when building a new set without ever having heard about it first, I‘d probably fall out off the chair if I was in that situation Oh, and Lockhart‘s alternate facial expression is amazing -

I‘m a collector and a purist one at that, so I have no experience with custom layouts Anyway, you‘re hereby sentenced to having to spend money on 15 individual M€g@blöck sets not only for mutilating innocent baseplates, but also for destroying my faith in Jang (who cannot be punished accordingly because he willingly buys that stuff) -

Meh. I'm not sure they could do much they haven't already covered in the three sets the theatrical cut got, which apparently didn't sell all that well to begin with. And sets specifically based on a streaming-exclusive director's cut might be a bit too niche -

Heresy! You're hereby banished from ever touching a poor baseplate again! ...if you weren't outside of my jurisdiction -

I‘m not saying that pricing isn‘t a valid topic to discuss, HOWEVER, it usually gets out of hand easily. This isn‘t a new thing either, especially for the SW threads, where it‘s been a prevalent topic ever since EB started. I just don‘t want this thread to drift off the same way Besides, price discussions tend to be a bit pointless in the end, not sure what they’re trying to accomplish apart from letting off some steam. Don‘t like the RRP? Wait for a discount or don‘t buy the set, simple as that. TLG won‘t adjust prices just because of a couple of AFOLs on the Internet. Vote with your wallet instead -

I hope this thread doesn't turn into endless price discussions too I only very rarely visit the SW thread any more since that seems to be the only topic left I'm here to discuss news and rumours, not price policies. Aren't there specific threads for that? -

You‘re getting ahead of yourselves again As others have pointed out, not everything @Falconfan1414 posts has to be a hint. And even if he was hinting at a Darkseid figure, there‘s currently no way to tell what it‘d be based on -

Jumping to conclusions again, huh? I fail to see how a reveal event AR gimmick equals digital instructions Like the ones Hidden Side famously had? -

Ollivander‘s, WWW, and Gringotts The problem with the Leaky Cauldron is the lack of a recognisable exterior. The iconic part about is undoubtedly the interior. One entry is a regular-Muggle pub and the other is a back alley that connects to DA via the brick wall. I mean, do we even see the LC‘s exterior (especially the upper floors, if there are any) in the films? I‘m not scoffing at the idea any more after seeing how well the modular design of DA works, but I still have some issues with that idea: They should‘ve started a lot earlier with it. We have no idea how long the theme will continue and a somewhat complete DA would take at last 4 more years This sort of flies in the face of a potential Hogsmeade set. I‘m not sure they would want to have two shopping streets compete like that That‘s a 100$ spot each year that could easily go to other (and dare I say, more deserving) sets Minifig-wise, those sets would be snoozefests I wouldn‘t mind it, but I‘d much prefer to get Gringotts and B&B as individual sets, and then move on to Hogsmeade -

I don‘t think so. Complementary D2C sets usually aren‘t a thing, unless they get released in quick succession like the Ninjago City ones. Moreover, Gringotts will most likely be a standalone set in the DH wave, leaving no prominent shops for a potential follow-up set since 75978 already has 2 of top 3 most iconic ones. And this set is called „Diagon Alley“. What would they call an add-on? „More Diagon Alley“? „Diagon Alley II: Electric Boogaloo“? The way I see it, smaller add-on sets would make more sense, but even then I think there‘s a lot of other locations people want to see first before additional DA shops that don‘t have any screentime or important characters associated with them -

I think the minifigs were supposed to be timeless and thus interchangeable between scenarios, which is also why they never used short legs, even well after their introduction in 2002. Just look at the 2010/2011 sets: with a few exceptions, they’re not based on a single movie, often including elements from multiple ones (CoS Hogwarts Express scene + HBP Luna in the same set anyone?). Also, screen accuracy was apparently far less important than in the reboot -

So was I, and I‘ve also switched sides immediatedly after having seen the leaks They would‘ve had to exclude A LOT of stuff to fit Gringotts in there or increase the price by quite a bit. This will undoubtedly sell out within a few hours, mark my words -

Which all goes back to the same unreliable attention-grabby source We did have names, the list they were part of was first posted more than a year ago: -

These are the exact same three sets that were on the cancelled 2020 set list I think someone stumbled upon that list and is now trying to pass it as their own „leak“ -

Hasn‘t that „rumour“ been shot down already? Lego_fans_news is really starting to get on my nerves They repost anything they find without giving credit and don’t even check if what they’re posting has been debunked already. They also just reheated the list of cancelled Overwatch sets -

Okay then, the Tri-Wizard Cup has definitely appeared each year in the reboot (CMF S1, Rise of Voldy, 2020 Advent Calendar) while the Goblet of Fire is debatable I thought the cup in the microscale RoR was just a random trinket, I mean why would the GoF even be there? The Diadem at least was hidden in there on purpose
