  1. So Seinfeld’s hairpiece is brand-new after all I wonder where else it could show up in the future
  2. Seinfeld gets released in roughly two weeks, so of course we’d have pictures of that set before we get to see the Tumbler
  3. Exactly. The movie itself wasn’t much of an issue, being rated PG-13 and all, but the name definitely was The upcoming sequel however never stood a chance in terms of tie-in sets, given its R-rating. Even comic-inspired ones would have been somewhat iffy by indirectly advertising the movie to kids
  4. Touché, I completely forgot about Shazam Deadshot, Killer Croc, Captain Boomerang, and Katana being relegated to comic-inspired tie-in sets made sense, but I still don’t get why they didn’t release at least one set based on the Shazam movie. It’s one of the better DCEU movies! …which of course they couldn’t know when the 2019 sets were designed. They probably had little faith in it and felt it was safer to throw him into a Batman set But after the success of that movie, I don’t think they’ll repeat that mistake. Even if you prefer the comic versions, isn’t it better to get a proper set based on a property like Black Adam rather than a random Batman set with that character thrown in as a bonus?
  5. It's only a new alternate expression on one side, that doesn't count I meant an entirely new design. The one we currently have isn't bad, but I want a redesign just for the sake of variety (maybe one inspired by the animated series). A new hairpiece wouldn't hurt either
  6. That’s definitely the best case scenario, so it won’t happen The absolute worst case would be a comic-inspired Tumbler with the same old Batsy & Joker minifigs (SO SICK of that 2012 Joker faceprint, give him a new one for Ole’s sake!). So the truth is probably somewhere in the middle, meaning repeated minifigs between the two sets and one exclusive minifig in the D2C
  7. Well, depends on how they approach it. If one of the Jokers is the nurse version, I wouldn't complain about getting him in both sets
  8. Wouldn't it make more sense to include Joker in the D2C Tumbler rather than the $40 one? Or do you think he's included in both? I hope not, I want to see Two-Face and/or Bane
  9. Leaks probably won’t be necessary, given that a lot of sets that will also be released in October have already been revealed officially I wouldn’t be surprised to see it popping up on s@h this week
  10. I should’ve specified that a bit, I meant sets based on specific comics Most of the 2012-2016 stuff was pretty generic and not based on any particular comic series (as far as I know), and so should appeal to anyone who’s interested in DC. What I meant is if there’s a choice between that type of set and direct movie tie-ins whenever there’s a movie around, they should go for the latter In years without new movies, it doesn’t matter as much. Edit: I think a good example is the 2008 Tumbler: I have no idea how well it sold back in the day, but it surely would have fared better if it was a direct movie tie-in rather than a rather generic set with the same old 2006 Joker
  11. Exactly. Of course licensed themes usually require current tie-in media to be successful, but it’s not like there’s a new movie coming out or something, now is there Speaking of which: Is it foolish to hope for an announcement of sorts at SDCC? Announcing a theme roughly one year in advance is not unheard of, so maybe there’s a slight chance? My favourite theme announcement of all times happened at SDCC after all, namely in 2010 when they snuck a Jack Sparrow prototype minifig into the Prince of Persia display
  12. I think they would advertise that. Sure, DA included a secret bonus minifig, but the golden minifigs are supposed to be collectable, so hiding one of them wouldn’t be the best strategy I think
  13. Why on Earth would they produce comic-based tie-in sets inspired by the films instead of sets directly based on them? That only makes sense for films that don’t allow direct tie-ins such as Suicide Squad. It just makes zero sense from a marketing perspective. I’ve be said it before, but most people, and especially the target audience, don’t give a single megablock about the comics
  14. That at least is pretty much guaranteed now. The leakers have stated before that there’s at least one more additional golden minifig, and now that the polybag has been ruled out, it has to be the D2C that provides them My money’s still on Dumbledoro and Dragold, if it includes two of them
  15. If it was just one set, maybe, but both of them? I'll just order some of the August 1st releases a day later in order to reach the free shipping threshold on both days Don't you mean Civil War?
  16. Does anyone know why the Shang-Chi sets are scheduled for August 2nd, at least on s@h? Making two orders instead of one is no big issue of course, but releasing them one day after all the other sets is just weird
  17. Thanks for clarifying! You’re right, the original post has been updated in the meantime Well, there goes our discussion fodder… again October then? Shame, because that means the minifigs won’t leak for another month or so
  18. I'm surprised nobody has brought this up yet, but there's a rumour floating around... I didn't want to share it at first because I know exactly where this discussion will lead to, but I now decided to share it anyway so we at least have something to discuss again So please take this with the largest non-lethal amount of salt imaginable, but the same source that provided the alleged 2022 Marvel and City set lists also has something to say about HP: They claim there's a "Harry Potter Modular" set coming (either this or next year). Apparently that source got stuff right before, but this sounds mighty sketchy to me. We know the D2C set is not a building and I doubt any source would already know about D2C sets released in 2022.
  19. Which hairpiece are they using for Seinfeld? Don't recognise it...
  20. Well, most polybags have a transparent window on the backside, so it should be possible to easily identify the tile without roughing up the bag itself
  21. It’s not entirely fair to compare DC to Star Wars in this regard First off, Batmobiles tend to be very different from one another. Having four similarly scaled X-Wings on shelves simultaneously would be pretty silly, four Batmobiles however not so much, given how different and unique they each look and feel. I don’t think anyone would confuse the 60’s Batmobile with the Tumbler or the version seen in The Batman. Secondly, having a myriad of Batvehicles is part of the appeal. In-universe, Batman does possess a vast array of different vehicles, just look at what the TLBM has thrown at us! Having that represented in LEGO form is pretty enjoyable, at least to a collector like me Edit: Ninja’d
  22. Agreed The CF tile is especially useful! Once the polybag hits store shelves, it then should be very easy to complete your collection if you’re only missing a handful of them Nice to see that one of my predictions came true
  23. Yeah, mere grains of salt won't do here I'll wait for a leaker to confirm the list before buying into it
  24. How reliable is that source that reported the alleged 2022 set list? There's interesting bits of information for some other themes too, in case they're trustworthy...
  25. Well, there goes the golden minifig At least it doesn’t include Harry for once
