DC Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Looks like the Batman Art set will soon be revealed, judging by the „who framed Batman“ teaser GEDDID?! -
The shift from creativity to consumer fan base?
BrickBob Studpants replied to mikaelsol's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I‘m not accusing anyone of gatekeeping, but I have a feeling there are some such undertones in this discussion The way I see it, it‘s more of an expansion rather than a shift. While they used to only cater to the creative side of the hobby (i.e. before instructions existed), they have started to broaden their range by also targeting (adult) collectors and people who want to use their products for decoration. These are all valid forms of enjoying LEGO. It‘s a construction toy, playsets, display pieces, action figures, dolls, and decorative articles all rolled into one. People who only care about one of these aspects are fans nonetheless It‘s natural for a versatile product to have a heterogeneous fanbase -
Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
They already did the Astronomy Tower two years ago, so it‘s a bit early for a remake And there‘s no ‚maybe‘ about Dumbledore‘s death being too dark If they shy away from DH this much, why would they even remotely consider something on that level? Anakin getting deep-fried is dark too, but not on the same level as a death scene like that. That would make for quite a funny set description though („activate the green light brick and push the lever to send Dumbledore to his death!“) A green light brick would be dope though, we need colours other than orange and red -

Maybe I‘m indeed a bit too optimistic here, but promobricks seem to have access to a retailer catalogue (how else would they be able to provide these descriptions), so it‘s not that far-fetched Of course, HP is not the only theme left, so we shall see… -
Jurassic World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
If I had to guess, I'd say the sets will be officially revealed around the time they would have originally if the NYTF hadn't been cancelled, so in the middle of February It's also around the time the trailer supposedly debuts. Nice synergy, if so -

Neither leaks nor official reveals are tied to any specific dates though There's nothing suggesting they can't drop the list tomorrow for instance -
Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion

It’s crazy to think about. I still vividly remember when we heard the first rumours about the theme returning in late 2017, and how much I dreaded it because I was living in my parents’ place at the time and was critically running out of shelf space in my room Seeing the first pictures during NYTF made it worse because of how good the Great Hall looked. Luckily, I then moved out a month or so before the first wave of sets hit Hadn‘t I moved out, I would definitely have run out of space after the first wave Heck, I don’t think I could have displayed even half of that wave if you include the D2C And now, 4 years later, the theme is still going strong (and I have space for another two to three years ). Pretty impressive when compared to the 2010/11 run -

Not a bad fit, actually. He is a douchy version of Cap, after all Still, I hope the days of SDCC-exclusives are over, they’re just way too hard to get. -
Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Correct, there were, but I can’t recall the exact timeline any more I think it was around the time when we first heard about the second half of the June wave, to quite literally add insult to injury, at least in that moment After all, I came to appreciate the sets later-on. I hope this year’s rumours/descriptions are more exciting, so you have a great wave of sets to look forward to after the surgery -

They’ve had me at “crystal”, as I’m a sucker for transparent pieces Can’t wait to see the builds and especially the minifigs -

I think promobricks usually pick one theme at a time, which makes sense when you want to generate a more steady flow of traffic Dropping all articles at once would not be an optimal strategy Yeah, that would certainly be a nice distraction. I was in the same position last year I wish you all the best! -

Not sure how they’d do his helmet with existing pieces though -

I think all of the sets besides the AC and the D2C are supposed to be released in June, just like last year Besides, a FB set released in August wouldn’t make much sense because that’s after the film’s original release date even -
LEGO Star Wars 2022 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
BrickBob Studpants replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The reveal should be sometime in March, and we know the minifigs, the dimensions, and a rough layout -
Well, that's just your opinion I haven't seen the show myself, so I can't speak about its quality, but at least it's won a ton of awards, got positive reviews, and seems to be very well-received among the LGBT community "Force" in what sense? Did he take people hostage or something? How exactly is this supposed to be different to other sets? You do realise that regular designers also have a say when it comes to set choices, right? Besides, this is hardly the first time a designer got their passion project turned into a set, several of the Creator Expert cars started as models the designers created in their spare time and the entire Brickheadz line started as a model of an elephant one designer made as a gift to another. Based on what exactly? It's quite a popular show and the set is well-designed. As I've said, at least they tried something new here, same goes for Vidiyo. What exactly is your point here? What on Earth does the Queer Eye set have to do with Mr Bean? Or Playmobil? This is a LEGO forum, what Playmobil does or doesn't release is of no relevancy here
-
„Abuse of power“? Are you guys serious with this? In what world does a designer getting a project done qualify as abuse Yeah, sure, I guess the Star Wars designers also “abused their power” when they vetoed Lucasfilm‘s suggestion and released Krennic‘s Shuttle instead of the 4-winged ‘hero’ shuttle Lucasfilm wanted them to do Can’t recall a single person complaining about that. And something tells me we wouldn‘t be having this discussion in the first place if this was any other set. I also can‘t recall people complaining about X-Men as a property when the 2014 Blackbird set flopped HARD. I hope they continue with sets like this, not only because representation matters, but also because expanding the product range can attract new fans, which is always a plus. A lot of AFOLs love to complain about the sitcom sets for instance, but they do appeal to people that were never interested in LEGO before. I fail to see how that’s a bad thing Even if not every idea is successful from a purely financial point of view, at least they try something new

Sure, but they could always explain these inconsistencies away by saying the older shows are set in a different universe, if they decide to make them canon -

The Netflix shows and AoS are currently in purgatory, neither being canon nor non-canon. Unless Feige makes a clear statement, we simply don‘t know -

Not yet, at least. Teenagers aren‘t featured in that many sets outside of HP, so the new Patil sister face print isn‘t likely to show up elsewhere for the moment -

That‘d be great! Probably our only chance of ever getting that suit in minifig form, outside of a random polybag or con exclusive *shudder* Speaking of Freshman Year: Seems like a very low-stakes idea for a Marvel show. I mean Vulture is this Spidey‘s first villain, so who‘s the antagonist? A random bankrobber? -

BrickBob Studpants replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I hope promobricks reveal the set descriptions the same way they did last year (if they‘re the ones to break the news in the first place, of course) Revealing the info via a live-streamed YT video was really exciting I‘m really grateful they actually created a new print for the twins. If this was any other theme, they‘d probably just continue to use the existing one -

Could be very soon actually. We just got descriptions of the 2HY Technic sets, so the other themes can‘t be far behind -

I sincerely hope we‘re getting more this year since there‘s so much they still haven‘t touched upon Iron Man 2, the first two Thor films, a ton of side characters and villains from phases 1 to 3… Oh, and there‘s that accessory pack that still needs to be revealed. Weird how we heard about it and the Star Wars packs around the same time when the release dates appear to be spread apart quite significantly -
In this particular case, it's rather simple. The jacket was intended as an extra torso, so they could easily release a keychain of Antoni with his "main" white outfit None of the other torsos look branded or copyright-protected to me (tbf, neither did that jacket)
