LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
BrickBob Studpants replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
FTFY Rose got a hat-hair combo piece in the headless FO AT-ST set, which hasn’t been done for any other character since, sadly. Wouldn’t be that hard! You sure about that? They have printed hair on minifig heads before, and it always looked god-awful -

You‘ll be happy to hear then that there‘s a new ball joint piece in the 2023 mechs. It‘s a 1x2 plate with mini ball joints on both sides And it comes in black! -

It‘s not like I would hate getting a third series, but a bunch of improved / new versions of existing minifigs and / or minor new characters is not as exciting to me as either a series based on a theme that desperately needs one (like the Marvel D+ shows) or an entirely new license Also, as I‘ve brought up before, not much use to produce a series 3 if half of the slots would be occupied by the usual suspects anyway -

With Skeeter off the list, I’m more firm than ever in my stance that we don‘t need a third CMF series anymore The remaining missing important characters can easily be shoved into normal sets, especially since DH sets are fair game now Also, pretty unusual to see a theme based on a big franchise getting this close to „completion“. It can be argued that Harry Potter is closer to that lofty goal than Star Wars even! -

YES This has to be one of the best book-exclusive minifigs so far! We can scratch another big one off the list -

After building it, I have to say that the Payakan set is one of my favourites It‘s a nice chunky build and the large pieces they use for the head aren‘t distracting at all IMO. The crabsuit is a cool build too with some good posability! Only downsides are the rather low minifig count and the eye prints on Payakan, which could‘ve been a bit cuter. Also, very refreshing to have so many sticker-free sets! And all the plastic wing pieces are a real throwback for me. I feel like plastic pieces used to be more abundant, so it‘s nice to see them back in a big capacity for this theme! Definitely preferable to their cloth counterparts, which tend to get very crinkly and are harder to dust off -

Both the battlepack and the TIE Bomber included an extra copy of the small blaster Looking back, they could‘ve started doing that way earlier, as the pistol is about the same size and has been a regular replacement piece for ages -

Miles‘ car in the Morbius set is my favourite Spidey vehicle to date I know that‘s not saying much, but I really dig the colour scheme and shaping of this thing Also, the spider logo is a print, surprisingly! And the Morbinator is a cool minifig Moreover, I didn‘t know beforehand that the new Hulk minifig has a double-sided head! Must‘ve missed that in the product images -

Not very likely. They seem to have ditched the previous pattern of two licensed and one numbered series a year and are now doing the opposite. I would thus expect the last series in 2023 to be S25. Besides, as I‘ve argued before, we don‘t really need a third HP CMF series anymore, especially with a reduced roster of 12 -

Yes, they’re satin trans-light blue I think it‘s the first time 1x1 round tiles have been used in that colour -

A Swiss online shop that unfortunately doesn’t operate outside of Switzerland… Looking forward to the other sets arriving tomorrow! Currently watching the movie, and the Ilu set is definitely very accurate -

Just built the smallest set of the wave, and I can highly recommend it! Very vibrant colours, excellent minifigs, and the Ilu is one of my favourite Avatar creatures so far. Excited for the remaining sets (minus the sub) tomorrow! Also, the Metkayina minifigs are definitely medium azure. I think it fits very well! -

Well, a huge chunk of my order was delayed until tomorrow since I wasn’t there to sign for the delivery. I got the Hulkbuster though And I can confirm that the Metkayina minifigs from Avatar TWoW are indeed medium azure, i.e., the same skintone as the Talokan. So if you wanna expand your armies, those torsos and legs will be useful! No idea which heads to use though as the selection of medium azure ones is still a bit limited -

I think it’s more useful to place the missing characters into categories or tiers, as Narcissa Malfoy is not on the same level as Cormac McLaggen I’d say: Missing characters important to the story (Narcissa, Xenophilius, Aberforth, Karkaroff, Skeeter, Scabior, etc.) Missing background characters to add visual flair (Vektor, Bloody Baron, Grubbly-Plank, etc.) Minor characters to serve as filler (named students, named Death Eaters) Characters with little screentime or relevance that also don’t stick out visually (Elphias Doge, Frank Bryce, Aunt Muriel etc.) -

Nice list, but a lot of them stand virtually no chance of ever being included in a set, like Dirk Cresswell or Frank Bryce. I think we can break down that list to roughly 20 characters that are actually likely -

The FTC formally oppose the acquisition, so the deal might actually fall through. In that case, it’s over -

They probably just didn’t want to recreate his death scene, similar to how Cedric was omitted from the Graveyard Duel. It’s extremely funny to me though that a chair is prominently featured in the set, given that grabbing a loose chair is what gets him killed in the movie -

That's what I call a sampling bias I never said you weren't allowed to. I just question why you visit a thread dedicated to sets based on a franchise you clearly don't like -

My apologies for the double post, but the submarine set might be a retail exclusive. I managed to order all of the other sets, but this one doesn’t seem to be widely available. Gonna be a busy weekend between watching the movie, building the sets (plus the onslaught of other early 2023 sets), and baking cookies -

I’d call 82% a vast majority, yes I know Rottentomatoes’ metrics are not always reliable since some critics count a 6/10 as fresh and others as rotten, and a review being fresh can mean anything between 6/10 and 10/10, but still, that cannot be spun as a negative result overall. The score on metacritics is 69, so also positive-leaning. Also, if you hate the franchise so much, why are you visiting a thread about the sets in the first place? -

How original, never heard that one before Anyway, I’m looking forward to the movie on Friday and the sets in January (or hopefully, late December). Still weird that they release the sets after the movie, but at least it’s not that big of a gap
