LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
BrickBob Studpants replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It’s an odd feeling to hold the box of a set that hasn’t been revealed yet I suppose the Onyx Cinder will just randomly drop on s@h on Thursday I don’t think they’ve ever done that before, let alone with a set based on an upcoming show! Weird, but I also understand them being reluctant about revealing a set for a show that still doesn’t have a publicly available trailer. Maybe at D23? -

I agree. If there’s any clear unmistakable reference to the movie in such a set, I’d have to do something Though I’ll cross that bridge if we ever get to it -

A $400 microscale DA and a $200 one are not the same Plus, microscale is a flexible term. I mean, both the 2018 Hogwarts and the 2023 Architecture-like model are referred to as microscale despite being nowhere near the same scale Did he update the list then or is this just a placeholder? Because in yesterday’s video, he still wasn’t sure which is which If Hagrid’s motorcycle ends up being the $50 set, I wonder what else is included. I don’t think it’s going to be a larger-scale model for multiple reasons: This would make it one of the cheapest vehicle models ever created. Those are usually at least $100, so it’d be in a weird scale compatible with nothing else. Hagrid’s bike isn’t exactly the most iconic HP vehicle, especially without its rider. Wouldn’t they make large-scale models of the Knight Bus or the flying Ford first before tackling this? A minifig-scale bike hasn’t been made yet. Why release a larger version first? They haven’t done that with any of the buildable objects and creatures yet (minus the bottle of felix felicis as mentioned in a previous post) Watch me be completely wrong -

Since we now have prices, we can make more educated guesses about the minifigs Knight Bus: Probably the same three as the last two versions, namely Harry, Ernie, & Stan. Maybe an updated Grimm, if we're lucky? Hagrid's Motorcycle: Assuming it's the $20 set, it's probably just Hagrid and Harry. Still hoping for a Death Eater though! Charms class: Assuming it's the $50 one, probably Flitwick and 3 students. Dueling Club: Lockhart has to be included, no way around it! The others are likely Harry, Draco, and Snape (so basically the same selection as the 2002 set) Flying Lesson: For $80, it should come with a few more minifigs. I guess Hooch and 4-5 students Diagon Alley: Hopefully not another Ollivander, so maybe Tom, as Jedijacpenguin suggests? Malfoy Manor: This one's gonna be interesting. The trio, Draco, Lucius, Bellatrix, and Narcissa have to be there, but maybe one or two more? Dobby, Wormtail, Griphook, Ollivander, and Luna would all make sense, but there's no way they're all included -

Look who's got egg on his face now A $200 and a $150 set in a January wave?! What is the 2HY wave going to look like then? Jedijacpenguin Well, this sounds like an even more insane wave now! That makes sense! So this is basically the fourth DA "system" in the reboot now (system in quotes because the 2018 one didn't have an add-on unlike the other two) -

I wouldn’t be mad if the manor was a bigger set, but I’d argue it’s completely unnecessary. The Burrow and Grimauld Place made perfect sense as larger-scale sets given their iconic exterior and major playfeature respectively. Malfoy Manor on the other hand is… just a manor. The important parts are the scenes that play out indoors. A medium-sized set depicting the duel between the trio and the Malfoys (and Dobby wreaking havoc) is all we really need in my opinion -

Looks like there will be a March wave after all, as that’s when another new set will be released, namely a buildable version of our favourite war criminal, Chopper (source: exabricks) -

Doom isn’t exactly known for showing his face The movie version may be different, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he never unmasks. Personally, I have mixed feelings on the casting decision. While RDJ is surely gonna do a great job in the role, I would preferred a new actor (or Mikkelsen). -

No buildable object or creature? Colour me surprised! This probably means we're getting three of them in the summer I like the sound of all of these! The dueling club hopefully brings us a new Lockhart version, preferably with the BTS hairpiece! I mean come on, it's virtually tailor-made for him! "Harry and Hagrid's Motorcycle" makes it sound like the DH version to me. Would be kinda silly to call it Harry's anything considering he was a baby in PS, and they surely would've named the set something else if it depicted that scene. Interesting to not have the DA shops specified... Maybe it's a collection of very minor ones? Or a remake of the weird 2001 sets? A new Knight Bus has been speculated on for 3 years now, so it was only a matter of time. Definitely the least exciting of the bunch. The only thing they could improve is maybe a better-sized shrunken head Overall, this sounds like a great wave! -

Count me in, that movie was an absolute blast! As was The Fall Guy Fair point. Endgame sets are generally a good idea, but I just wish they included some missing characters here and there, like they did in the beginning with Obadiah Stane and Whiplash! As good as the Infinity Saga sets are, they drop the ball quite often in this regard. -

Another Endgame set is allegedly coming, this one being based on the portals scene. The only rumoured minifig is Iron Spider, the other 7-8 are unknown. The source is exabricks again …would it kill them to release ONE Infinity Saga set with a new character again?! Granted, they could include Kraglin here, but how likely is that -

I never said it was a majority. I think only a small minority of kids will actually see it for themselves (at least in theaters) Doesn't stop the movie from being discussed among kids though, which means a lot of them are at least aware of its existence. -

Just because their parents don't want them to watch these movies doesn't mean kids won't. For some, that's a further incentive I'm pretty sure D&W is currently a hot topic among kids, with many discussing how to sneak into a cinema to see it and bragging about it -

Exactly. TLG have the reputation that all of their products (and by extension, what they‘re based on) are suitable for kids. They wouldn‘t want to tarnish that for this one movie And as I’ve said before, the 18+ branding wouldn‘t save them since it‘s not equivalent to an R-rating. The Winnie the Pooh and Sesame Street Ideas set have the 18+ branding, so it should be obvious to any customer that it‘s nothing more than a marketing ploy
