Yeah, I will definitely try. The chromed ones are more welcomed here, instead of these boring (but cheaper) LBGs. -

I still made a separate topic for MODs: -
A new topic, separated for 42111 set modifications and improvements. First of all, the Stud.io file that can be easily used for the further MODs: https://bricksafe.com/files/Void_s/42111/42111.io Initially I was trying to build something similar made of 41999 set and was very surprised by such a similarity of this model and my attempt o make it: Yes, it had the same things: Independent front suspension with showmobile hubs 42041 wheels. Yeah I tried several types of them and these ones very similar to "modifed-pupmed up" chromed wheels. Live axle rear suspension with Ball-Frame So, the solution form that abandoned project could be easily applied to the 42111 set, but it will come later. So now it's time for General Lee!

@Mechbuilds, my pleasers. Now it's time to put it on the proper wheels and paint in orange! -

You're welcome, I have finished the bodywork and only rear axle with suspension remains: https://bricksafe.com/files/Void_s/42111/42111.io -
Perfect! I really like this set especially for the original modular structure so any further mods may just replace the original subassemblies. So, replacing the front part (frame + hood + bumper) and the rear (tri-axle group) you're getting another truck that has only the cabin shared with the Anthem model (but it can be replaced too, why not? The day cabs, a flattop sleeper).

[TC18] Miniature Muscle car
Void_S replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Nice idea! I would put the seats closer to the rear axle for better proportions.- 24 replies

Just in case, it's a half-finished body with engine and front suspension: https://bricksafe.com/files/Void_s/42111/42111.io -

It looks like returning of old-good parts and techniques: rare tires, "big" engine, ball-frame for live axle, compact steering hubs, etc... Really it screams only for the Technic minifig. I wouldn't mind even the bold one -

I'm trying to build it in Studio right now and I see no parts so far that have no orange color... -

Yeah, exactly. They are even members of different classes: Charger is a Muscle car (full-sized overpowered car) whereas Mustang is a Pony car (sub-sized overpowered car, the shorter trunk and not so roomy for the rear passengers). -

We will need also replace the taillights "beam" with round tiles, like in 68' model)) But the wheels fit perfectly, especially as the real Charger has relatively small wheels (small for its large body) whereas the one presented in F&F movies had bigger ultralow-profile "drums". -

Yeah it would be great to see some "medium-sized" steering wheel once to fill the gap is this scale size, when the big id too big (like here) and the small is to small (like in 42077). -

I think so. It should be a kind of outrigger geometry with unfold+lock action. Indeed. The Mustang set exactly has these "snowmobile" hubs and they perfectly fits into its wheel (the wheels were specifically designed for that). Plus to that, despite the Mustang has no suspension, it could be easily added and doesn't have any collision with wheels nor steering links. I just think we will need to move the arms and hubs at 1-2 studs outside for narrower wheels. -

No way at all, as, I believe, any further non-RC models. This diff has a high reduction ratio which is good for motorization but very bad for models that spin the crankshaft using the wheels. In this case, the gearing-up ratio will cause high friction violating TLG standards. The same story for planetary hubs - they are only for RC, the models with proper engine>to>wheels transmission, not wheels>to>engine models. @Parazels, it is shown at some photos that it has an old DBG diff part. -

Void_S replied to Kaanere's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I suppose that as it's a kind of "500" model of '70 Charger that had no flip-upping lights... Anyways, I was trying to make them in two ways and it is possible but needs a very tricky solution so I believe that TLG skipped it. The thing I want more is at least a low-high gearbox (or even 4). And I see that with already placed 12-20 gears for steering HOG reduction, it is very possible to make using 12-20 and 16-16 clutch gear pairs. -

it is, it has a solid axle with old-style diff (for 3 12T gears). Well, it would require the shape of a completely new fender, as existing don't match the car design with flat sides. Different styles, different times... -

Updating the features list: V8 engine made of old-school LBG blocks (how the classic Muscle car may have something different to old-school Big Block?) Connected to the rear wheels via the old diff. It's under the hood, hurray! Rear suspension (hard/yellow springs), live axle. Front suspension (hard/yellow springs), independent, double wishbones. Turobochargers's gear driven via chain - connected to the engine (and therefore the wheels). Wheelie stand, looks to be connected to the gearbox handle inside the cabin (fold/unfold action). Steering HOG knob behind the cabin, near the trunk lid. Steering wheel seems to not working here. 42041's Racing Truck tires Openable doors (the handles have no locks), hood, trunk A lot of black panels A lot of LBG connectors for an inner roll-cage Old-good "boat stud" headlights -

Awww, I see it too... remembering that those steering wheels never fit the full 1L axle length (it's about 4/5 of it only), it really could be the rest of just blue friction 2L axle-pin. -

Possibly yes, I see some space between the brake vacuum cylinder and the steering wheel - notice the big enough front panel, behind the hood. If I added some gears to engage the steering wheel, I would add them here, right behind the steering/drive shafts crossing and then go up to the steering wheel. It really reminds me more and more my attempt to make it, and many other fans' (more successful) MOCs. Indeed TLG were inspired by the number of them.
