  1. Vote: Lieutenant Zachary Jones (Flipz)
  2. Yes, if the story fits, then I think Commander Walters jumps to the top of the suspect list. That said... I really want to hear this, too, Ensign Holloway.
  3. I'm sorry, but if we think we've identified the scum killer, we lynch that player. We need to reduce their numbers because each time we take one of them out, it gets significantly harder for them to win. We can't rely on the vig to get a scum every time. I'm inclined to think the vig just got lucky last night. Plus, if we think we've identified the killer and we try to block them perpetually, there are so many things wrong with that concept that it strikes me almost as scummy. 1. It may be possible for them to pass the kill around 2. Our blocker may be identified by a scum watcher/tracker/whatever 3. Our blocker may be blocked by a scum blocker/jailkeeper/whatever 4. Our blocker may be accidentally killed by the vig or by another killer such as an SK. 5. We have to identify someone else to lynch in the meantime, who we will almost certainly have less evidence against. 6. We'll have to kill them at some point, otherwise we'll never know how many of them are left. If we come to a conclusion that this person is likely not the killer after all, then I suppose we can let them live, but for now, I say we lynch them. In the worst case scenario, where this person turns out to be town, it'll tell us that our protector probably protected the right person.
  4. Your ability to twist words is duly noted. Subtle and subliminal are not the same thing, and I'm sure anyone here would agree that one goal of the scum is to subtly influence loyalist thinking to further their agenda. Perhaps I misinterpreted it, but this statement: just strikes me as too much of a convenient oversight from someone of your rank. This is another reason I don't trust you. Why were you so paranoid? No one besides Jones had really pushed it, yet you acted like everyone was behind him. There were no choruses of "Yes, I'm ready to vote him now!" No angry mob with pitchforks. Just a lone crier sounding alarm. If you look at my case, it's not based on Jones' points so much as your reaction to them. I understand you're an emotional person, but a Commander should have a more level head than that. You're certainly welcome to feel this way and others may feel the same. If it doesn't go anywhere and you prove to be a loyalist, I'll be happy to have been mistaken.
  5. So I know the conversation has moved on but I'm going to go back to the discussion between Commander Walters and Lieutenant Jones. Personally, I don't think the approach Jones was taking suggested that Walters was scum. That said, I think there are some things that came about during the conversation that people don't really seem to have picked up on. I think if Jones had noticed these things, perhaps he would not have dropped the case, but it's also possible that he was just feeling stress about being challenged on it. Here's what I saw in that exchange that leads me to think that Commander Walters may in fact be scum: 1. Commander Walters contacted Jones to request he be watched/protected. He said having a watcher on him would help confirm some people. Naturally, such an action could be helpful to either side, and the scum knowing that Commander Walters could be a target of night actions would be very helpful for them if they have roles that can see what's going on as well. I disagree with the notion that such a request on day 1 is reasonable for a loyalist to make with the expectation it really will clear several people. Commander Walters is smarter than that. It's worth noting that Commander Walters has not denied anything of the private correspondence, so we can take it as accurate. 2. Much of Commander Walters declarations of innocence are embellished with Appeals to Emotion of the most blatant kind. 3. Commander Walters declares two of his statements to have been said in jest. The statements in question were the one about wanting protection and the one about wanting to lead the town. That's possible, but it's also possible that he would throw those in there with smilies to make them look that way to deceive while still wanting to plant the idea in a lead townie's head. This is a common scum tactic of trying to influence subtly without looking suspicious. I don't care how you phrase it, it's scummy to suggest it, and it's scummier still to suggest you meant it only in jest. If you said it, you meant it. It's not unreasonable for a townie to ask for protection if they have a reasonable need for it, such as a forced role claim in thread. Honestly, I'd have believed in his innocence more if he had confessed to these things as desires rather than trying to brush them off as jokes. 4. When asked if he had contacted anyone else, he said no. When Jones created his play that showed he had indeed spoken to someone, he said he may have accidentally forgotten that he spoke to others about this same thing. It's an about face of something that he had said previously. - Post #29 & Post #36 Ultimately, I don't think the case is a slam dunk, but I believe it to be stronger than the case against anyone else, and that's based primarily on the final two points. Those points are his reactions during the earlier accusations that I don't find trustworthy, so for now... Vote: Commander Walters (Tamamono) As an aside, I was reflecting that it's funny I tend to write "Tammo", even though it's "Tama"
  6. Surely you can see that your first sentence is a bit of a stretch at this point. Personally, I'm most concerned by the fact that Lieutenant Jones is starting to have people claim to him without having any real reason for that trust. He says a claimed cop has cleared a townie, and that the watcher did something last night. I don't think Lieutenant Jones has done anything that should warrant that trust. He's already said that no one claimed to him on Day 1. We're now 3 loyalists down since yesterday - not a good night - and people are starting to share information with him. I'll bet there's a liar in the group somewhere.
  7. Good day everyone. My apologies for my absence to this point. My research was at a state where I felt that if I left it, it would most certainly ruin the experiment and I would have to start over. I can say that I was surprised that both Robbins and Wright proved to be loyalists, but I'm not entirely disappointed that they are both out of the way for us to consider other candidates today. Narrowing down the field of suspects can be helpful even if it comes at the expense of a loyalist. Hopefully, those loyalists were not ones with special abilities to aid our cause. I find the whole situation between Commander Walters and Lieutenant Jones quite distasteful and I'm almost willing consider voting for one of them just to be rid of that annoyance! Probably Jones at this point as we seem to have enough engineers to take his place. I still don't understand how a junior engineer is an officer and a regular engineer is just an enlisted man (or woman, Hi Allison!). The one thing I'll say about that altercation is that it appears that Commander Walters has confirmed that Lieutenant Jones' transcript of their private correspondence is accurate in the request for being watched. That does seem suspicious, but I'm also more than a bit suspicious about Jones' assertion that he had no one contact him day 1, and now all of a sudden he's had numerous important townies contact him. That seems a bit convenient for Lieutenant Jones.
  8. Confirmed. Will update my avatar and join the conversation in a bit.
  9. 1) Mafia History (of course) Witchbreed, IMHOTEP, Yakuza, Jedi Temple. I have been a superstar in each one of those, never surviving and winning only once. 2) What is space (in your own words) Reltim guad lack to ferblog oper cher si. (I swear I made those words up myself!) 3) What is 2 + 2? lylo
  10. I am quite eager to get back in a game! I really want to put some of what I think I learned in Jedi Temple into practice.
  11. In my experience, losing has been better for learning than winning (I've only won once in my 4 games...). So here's a bit of a self assessment. I think this game had both my best and worst play to date on an EB game. I wasn't sure exactly how I wanted to play this game initially, and was a bit disappointed to draw vanilla again. I'm not as into SW as some of the other players, but I knew enough to appreciate what was going on. As R2, I really thought it would be fun to speak in beeps but that clearly annoyed people, so I backed off of it. The one thing it did, though, was open up opportunities for communication with people, and that led to my strategy of trying to communicate regularly behind the scenes. In this sense, my focus and attention to what was going on in this game was greater than it has been in any other game in the past. I think I had good conversation with people behind the scenes. For me, the big day was, of course, day 4. When Tammo posted his head banging claim that we'd lost our investigator and BD had been janitored, I was 99% convinced he was scum. I even sent him a PM saying "You scummy scumbag!" We had quite a bit of chatter back and forth that day, and nothing Tammo said convinced me otherwise. So why didn't I vote for him? I had raised my suspicions with about 4 or 5 other players and every one of them seemed to think I was wrong or didn't have enough. In the end, I let them convince me to give Tammo another night, at which point I was killed. Ironically, the one person who tended to agree more with me was Flare, and we all know how that worked out for him. Had I survived night 4, I would've gone hard after Tammo on Day 5 given that Peanuts was killed. I think the big fail for me was not raising my suspicions more publicly. I think if I had done that, there's a chance the scum doesn't kill me because it would look obvious, or there's a chance that the people who lived would've started to see what I saw. I was very active behind the scenes, but not enough in public. The thing that ticks me off about it is that of all the people I spoke to about my suspicions of Tammo, he was the only one who was scum and he was the only one who wasn't convincing me he was town. I blame Hinckley.
  12. A purple bone? My daughter would love that!

Close-ups, please! Especially of that museum/palace thing in the back with the sand green roof and some of the more intricate skyscrapers.
  14. Thanks a bunch for letting me play. I had a lot of fun with this game.
  15. If everyone would just vote... I think there's only a few people left.
  16. Beeooop bip blip doooop. [i have tried to give Euna the benefit of the doubt, and tried to spur on some additional discussion while waiting for a solid response. Euna was just as reluctant in private to tell me anything as she's been here in public, so I'm convinced that Euna is the best candidate for today. Vote: Euna Iladru (Jedi master Brick)]
  17. Blip beep. [Ok, we're not really getting anywhere today from a discussion standpoint, so I'll throw some more thoughts out there. We had the 3 C's (now just 1), but here are the 3 Q&U's (quiet and unhelpfuls). Blech, that's not catchy at all, is it? Droids are no good at this! FoS: Euna Iladru (Jedi master Brick - I think I already did this, but why not do it again! No defense has come forward. No effort. Just odd. Scum waiting to die. I believe that lynching Euna will actually reveal more than just a simple voting out of a quiet and unhelpful person. Before eventually casting a middle of the pack vote for Mace Windu on day 1, Euna attacked Foul Moudama for being so hasty to vote for Ahsoka Tano. This was strange considering Moudama voted second, after Ili Seosty, whose hasty vote came with less prior clarification of motive. I will vote for Euna later if nothing comes up to change my mind. I'm now fairly convinced that she has no desire to work together with the rest of us in the temple anyway. FoS: Ili Seosty (Sisco) - Ili has been tripping everyone's scumdar, but by being so absent hasn't warranted any haste in attacking with votes. I believe that if Euna is sith, then Ili is, too. Ili, you said you'd participate more previously... where have you been? Fos: Voolvif Monn (JackJonsepaw) - There's still the outstanding issue of Monn, who has looked scummy to someone every day so far. He's yet to garner any serious votes, but has a vote for each day. I'm also curious what people think of the spat between Kit Fisto and Nahdar Vebb. It seems to have died down now, but was pretty full bore near the end of day 3 for a little bit. I think many of us came away with the impression that they were just two zealous templies trying to get to the bottom of things, but I can't shake the feeling that one of them isn't a templie. Neither of tham has struck me as Sith, though, so perhaps one of them is the SK? We made good progress the first few days, and today has felt a bit like we've lost momentum. Maybe lynching Euna will change that again, but better to be active than simply to hope.]
  18. Blip booooop booop boop. [i don't understand why you feel the need to vote the moment you see an opportunity. It's almost like you want to avoid having to really think about it. Everyone's decided on Euna, so great, I'll vote! Oh, there's new evidence. Too bad... FoS: Foul Moudama (Kadabra)]
  19. Bloop bip beeep dip dooooop weeyoooo. [There are plenty of good reasons not to trust Coryn at this point. I'm not saying Coryn has to be the lynch - I may make that case later - but I really don't think anyone should be sharing any special information with him anymore.]
  20. Beep bip dadeep doop beeeeep. Sceeuuw doop bip blip beep dip bip dap dope. [That's an interesting point. I hope it's not true.] Boo doo bip. [Exactly. The case against Coryn is based heavily on the fact that BOTH Sherlock and Zane died last night. I'm not a happy droid right now, but I also think we need to focus some attention away from Coryn and look at all suspects. I'm sure this is exactly the type of questioning the scum were hoping to achieve by janitoring C-3PO. It's causing confusion about Coryn, who was previously a well regarded townie. This was nothing less than a highly successful night for them and a huge loss for us.] Beeep beep bip. [How so?]
  21. Can I gently request that hosts make their night images bright enough that people can actually see what's in the images? If you're going to go the bother of posting images, you might as well make it so people can see what's in them.
  22. I know this is an old thread, but I recently bought this on sale at Fred Meyer (western US) and found that the gold coins and gold bar are now the metallic chrome that everyone was complaining about. Nice set.
  23. I really enjoyed following along in this game except for the fact that Hinck hosts his pictures at a site I can't access from work, so I only got the visual jokes in the evenings. Curse you, for this! I agree that the game was balanced at the start, but I also think the design was swingy. Pandora's conversion/mason role meant that either the scum would get a big advantage, or the town would get a nice head start. Personally, I would've done a similar thing and tried to use it early on someone I thought was likely to be town. From Pandora's perspective, there's no disincentive to use the role early because the victory condition changes if converted. I'd argue that there's great incentive to use it night 1 so that you don't spend too long working against scum and then all of a sudden having to work with them or too long in the dark about a potential mason friend. The fact that the town had several roles that were passive meant that depending on whether or not they triggered, you'd get swing, too. The role cop for scum was an anti-town role that triggered, whereas the bomb/PGO was a pro-town role that didn't. It felt a bit like the town didn't have an opportunity to take control of their own destiny because they were busy trying to figure out what they really had, and by then, it was too late. Swingy isn't necessarily a bad thing, it made for a very interesting game, but it can be frustrating to watch when it feels like one side is really struggling compared to the other. As an observer, I was really frustrated to see the tide turn from Pandora to JB, as it just struck me that lynching Pandora should've been the next step. Impossible to say what would've happened if that had gone through, and I had no idea the scum team had upped their number to 4 at that point. The setting was wonderful and the concept of having everyone's true identity hidden was a fun twist. Oh, and I loved the Jedi Temple reference!
