  1. I kinda meant a slit in a front door but I was really unspecific. It'll probably turn out all right.
  2. I'd like boxes that have more depth too, but I'm not a fan of having parts outside of the box. They can get damaged easily and little kids probably can't help it messing around with every single one of them that's on the shelf. When buying the SW planet sets I always had to pick very carefully. Well, that's back when I still bought sets in store.
  3. Uhm I have a weird question. Can one of those medium sized bags fit through a mailbox without the pieces getting squashed? The seller tried to do that before asking me what shipping method I wanted :( I hope the set is okay now that I'm planning to buy it.
  4. That is an incredible box design indeed. Shame it's better than the set, but I don't hate Quake Beast or anything. Wow wow wow nothing can be worse than Bruizer But seriously, Quake actually has a decent arm design that is actually poseable, with bones and everything, while also having a function. Just checked back again and the logo has had that since its return in 2015.
  5. I'm now kinda tempted to get Splitter Beast as well. That pretty much covers the regular type of beasts, along with Jaw Beast which I'll get anyway. The problem is that I really like Crystal Beast as well, though he's another one of the regular types. I think I'm going to get him though, since I found him for an incredibly low price. Since I'll have most of the regular hoard type of beasts, I'd like some variety, like a flyer. However, I think Flyer Beast is a mixed bag. Does he have any redeeming qualities? I love his color scheme, head print, antenna as a weapon, him being a flyer and Breez and her accessories, but his awkwardness (regular fist on a long arm, short arm with huge claw, minifig platform, cheap bone wings) kinda destroys him. Well I quite like this year's Bionicle sets, cluttered and inconsistent textures aside, they look better to me than the 2015 sets. I'm not really a MOCer or a rebuilder, so Evo Walker is still a pass for me because it is just so awkward and unfinished.
  6. My thoughts on UtD haven't changed really. He's just a big imposing villain set that isn't so well finished when you start to look closer (though his overall look is very impressive). The claws are better than expected and so is his ankle movement, but the hollowness and the limited poseability of the neck irks me.
  7. Thanks for the replies! I've read all VBBN sets in the past and I've watched a lot of video's, but I couldn't really make up my mind. Definitely not getting Evo Walker, Rocka Crawler (as I feel the polybag does a better job with fewer pieces) and Surge & Rocka Combat Machine. Flyer Beast has grown on me a little, but I don't think he's that great cause he's awkward in places so I'm probably not getting him. The Breez Flea Machine has grown on me quite a lot since I didn't like it initially, but that's one of two sets I can't seem to find, along with the Freeze Machine. I now get why that is the case. I really like the mechs from the first wave, so I'll definitely get Rocka and Furno's. I really don't know if the XL is worth it, but it looks promising. Freeze Machine is cool but thereby skippable. Lovin' the smaller beasts too. Still on the fence about Splitter Beast. I don't really care for the splitting as both beast seem rather lackluster. Can someone tell me if the combined Splitter feels good enough as a proper two-headed monster? Queen Beast is a must-have, but only because of her. Not really fond of the spider walker.
  8. With the coming of Breakout in 2012, I finally gave HF a chance after kinda ignoring it after Bionicle was cancelled. I didn't get that many sets during HF's run and just recently I've been getting a few more Breakout sets since they're all very cool to my eyes. Looking at the pictures, I really like Invasion from Below and its concepts as well. I can pretty much find almost every set for around RRP, new and sealed. My question to those who own a lot of the sets is, if I tried to hunt down about half of the first wave and about half of the second wave, which sets do you recommend? Also, I'm trying to get a somewhat even amount of mechs and beasts, even though I like most mechs a lot more than the beasts (this is for conflict's sake), and as much variation among mini Heroes, jumpers and cocoons as possible. Any advice/recommendations would be appreciated :) If you don't really care about the specifics I talked about above, please leave your favorite sets from each wave in the posts below.
  9. To my eyes, this slightly tinted skin color still looks a little too dark. I know Ezra isn't really white in the show, but he and Sabine have a somewhat more yellowish skin color. I think the right color just doesn't exist yet in Lego form. (Although looking at that picture again, maybe this color could still work with Sabine. Ezra's and Sabine's skin color look pretty similar but they aren't the same I think. )
  10. By combining the two different sets, the proportions are totally off. The engines are way too small compared to the cockpit. Honestly, the 2010 model was pretty much perfect. Only the engine pods could have used some form of smooth slope pieces like the 2007 one. Since you pretty much used the center section of the 2010 set, maybe you can make completely custom engines that are as big as the 2010 version (though a little longer) and as smooth as the 2007 version?
  11. Obviously Lego's own Bo-Rifle design is terrible and many have asked for a good substitute. I made mine using spare pieces so you guys can recreate it as well if you like it. I wasn't able to put any tan straps into it, but at least the bley color scheme is a lot closer than Lego's own black color scheme: https://www.flickr.c...in/photostream/ His weapon has been extended in Bo-Staff Mode: https://www.flickr.c...in/photostream/ This picture shows the weapon in Rifle Mode. An extra exo-force arm has been added as a handle. The other exo-force arm that was already there represents the barrel of the rifle: https://www.flickr.c...in/photostream/ I also tried to recreate the 'collapsed mode', a third option. It doesn't change in length however. The handle changes position and the gun piece flips on top of the staff instead of being underneath it: https://www.flickr.c...in/photostream/ The dark bley handle that gets removed when switching to the staff mode can be clipped on one of the spots that is still available, for storage, though I've chosen to remove it because the handle sits very close to the main staff when folded in. When in Bo-Staff mode, I used trans dark blue studs to represent the energy at the tips, though you can also use crystals elements like in set 75040 General Grievous' Wheel Bike if you have them in the right color. Chima crystals could work well too. Bonus: Agent Kallus' Bo-Rifle: https://www.flickr.c...in/photostream/ Kallus' weapon in rifle mode: https://www.flickr.c...in/photostream/ The relative scale of the weapons. They're very simple builds: https://www.flickr.c...in/photostream/
  12. I can't wait to see your take on that scene and the Malachor temple, since your previous MOCs have been fantastic. I don't ever see that Vader with sliced helmet minifigure happening though. As for the face they're using with the upcoming TIE Advanced set, I don't think Lego knew how the finale was going to play out, so the face probably won't be what we're all hoping for :( Maybe he has a new face print, but I think they're just going to reuse an existing Vader face. If they're choosing that option, I'm hoping for the 2014 Star Destroyer tan face, though a new print would be a lot better. Also, I really want that Acklay as it's the only Lego incarnation as of right now.
  13. Kinda interesting that that has been brought up, it never bothered me before. I know humans don't have a stud on top of their head, but I don't see the problem with minifigs. Okay that sounded a little weird. Anyway, I think Gregor is still the best of the clones and I don't mind his white stubbles that much as his face does have some nice detailing and it looks a lot like his animated counterpart, though I would have preferred grey stubble print as well. Obviously the skin tone is wrong, but that's just the way it is. I think Gregor is a great transition from angry clone to the other two clone characters.
  14. My opinions on Ekimu haven't changed that much, but I think he actually looks better in that review. He's kinda safe, but overall he just looks fantastic. Storm Beast is a little disappointing now that I've seen him in the video. I still like him, but not more than Ekimu as of right now. While I accepted this at first, he looks even messier now in his construction. Still, I think the sacrifice of aesthetics is justified, as his function is very unique (though, again, not as good as I had expected). I guess there is still his wonderful color scheme...
  15. Shame that there are no controls or details in the cockpit. But it's a very good deal for the price. I love the minifigs and the little speeder bike, and the ship has a nice dual function.
  16. Yeah I noticed that too in the descriptions. It's just that they basically say that in every Bionicle product description since 2015. Something along the lines of 'a sturdy and durable design for intense action play'. Could that be Lego trying to explain to possible G1 buyers, who haven't followed HF, G2 and CCBS, that the whole brittle (lime) socket issue is over now? Well, both he and Pohatu look really good to me but I'm beginning to see that chicken motif more clearly now
  17. I didn't really like the look of the legs initially and I still don't like them too much, but I'm getting used to them. I just hope they don't constantly pop out when you try to move them. Seriously, who thought that design would be durable enough? Same goes for his shoulder build, though that seemed to stay together quite well in the video (though the joints were used for a short period of time so I can't really tell).
  18. After watching the review, I'm still very sure that Lava Beast will be my favorite of the summer wave, but I hope there will be other reviews up soon so I can judge them all fairly (except for Quake, since he wasn't accidentally available at Toys 'R' Us). I really like his wyvern look with the unusual wings and I quite like the function of those. His color scheme is not that new or anything but it works so well. The trans black crystal shells kinda look like smoke so it blends in rather well. Too bad the Beast Mask uses the mask pop-off trigger. I had hoped that the mask would be too big to allow that, as some have speculated here, so that you could still move the jaw up and down. Right now it just looks like the upper half of his face flies off, while his jaw remains.
  19. Also, why are they wearing their regular masks while in unity mode? To justify the Beasts coming with corrupted regular masks instead of regular golden masks? It's kind of nice to have confirmation that those crystal weapons that Lava Beast has are indeed wings.
  20. I don't know if this is relevant for this topic but since the other three were posted here, there's a fourth Resistance Rises video out: There's a minifigure version of the backpack alien Bobbajo, but I think it's just one of those one off CG models that they make for these vids only.
  21. Looks like they can combine into Umarak the Abomination!
  22. I don't really like how the Encounter on Jakku turned out and it's overpriced as well. This has been said before, but I think the thug should've been included in the set, since it needs another figure anyway (and in the early descriptions we got I believe it was stated that there would be a fifth figure).
