  1. http://www.intertoys.nl/lego/lego-starwars/lego-star-wars-rebel-combat-frigate-75158 Darn. My prediction turned out to be correct. Official european price for the Combat Frigate will be 140
  2. Those Australian prices might be the worst offenders yeah... I don't get why Lego is still able to sell their products like that.
  3. I know that TLR was panned by the bonkle community but I quite liked it back then. I guess I am kinda blinded by nostalgia, but then again I like watching the original three movies too. They're not truly great but they have their charm. I Hate Everything's video about MoL pretty much sums up my thoughts on all of them.
  4. The thing is, as standard as the HF episodes and the characters were, the characters sounded very normal and it was easier to immerse yourself into the story. Some of the characters even grew a little bit over the course of the show (until the Invasion from Below animation threw everything that had been established out of the window). HF was very predictable and the story was nothing special (also they left numerous plot lines unanswered) but they were kinda going for that 'cinematic' experience that the earlier Bionicle movies were going for, while JtO feels more like a cartoon. In the end, I find all four old Bionicle movies better than JtO. After those JtO and the best HF episode Breakout. Then the rest of HF. Also this feels like it belongs more in the story topic, but the points made to get me to write this post were made in this topic.
  5. Yeah they skimped through JtO's story a little too quickly. But my main problem is the stilted dialogue and the way those lines were delivered. It kinda took you out of everything and it lacked a sense of realism and tension. (Some scenes or segments with only awkward lines and no music as TTV pointed out didn't help either.) However, the art style is beautiful and the characterisations and the choices that were made by them felt natural. The rushed story could've been a nice story if it took its time. I found it to be okay in the end.
  6. In the case of the FO blasters I'd like some dual molding too. Perhaps white printing would do since most of the white is in the center of the weapon when viewed from the side.
  7. Well you can but it really isn't great for the rest of the product. Is there a perfect spot or angle where it'll fit without stressing the other parts?
  8. Yeah more lightsaber variants would be nice. It's also time they give Ahsoka a shorter 3M blade for the shorter hilt instead of going with two of the same hilts and two 4M blades...
  9. What has been updated about the six shooter then? Also I'd like new blaster molds but the ones they have are perfectly generic and servicable. Different sizes and styles can be approximated with additional pieces. The RO wave is a nice example. A variant for every blaster type for every faction or character would ber too much for Lego to handle, but I'd like to see one or two new generic ones and new colors of existing ones.
  10. Can't take a picture right now. However I looked more carefully at the VBBN reviews and the problem is fairly noticable in the frontal view. I built everything correctly though.
  11. The Endor BP Stormtrooper only came in that set and the Ewok village. I consider the ISD and Slave I Stormtrooper to be the best. He has great detailing. His helmet print truly makes the mold come alive and he looks exactly like his movie counterpart. I find all previous helmet prints they had incredibly boring. It wasn't quite right. The only thing that I can ask for is white hips with black body glove printing and part of the belt like the FO Stormies. Arm printing is not a must, but it would be nice to see because that may some day become a standard for minifigs.
  12. So I just built the XL machine today and there's something really wrong with it that I hadn't noticed in any reviews or pictures. The two 4M gunmetal armor pieces beneath the cockpit cannot be put on the set in the suggested way like in the instructions. When I do so, it forces a ton of stress on the gunmetal add-on pieces on the 5M yellow armor pieces on the shoulders, which in turn stress the horizontal grey technic beam inside of the model. The shoulder armor curves upwards and the grey beam curves to the rear, as seen from above. Also, said gunmetal shoulder add-ons are interfering a little bit with the green cockpit seat piece. This is made slightly worse when the 4M pieces beneath are angled in the suggested flat V-shape. Does anyone else have this problem? At the moment I just move the armor pieces in a more traditional V-shape, with both middle ends of the pieces not touching each other beneath the cockpit. It doesn't look as good, but it doesn't put any additional stress on the already jumbled shoulder and cockpit construction.
  13. The general inflation is way smaller than the increase in price, or so I heard. It also doesn't explain the sudden 10 € or £ jump seen with the blue X-wing. That is just an aweful cash-grab which didn't happen in the US strangely (or should I say of course it didn't happen there).
  14. Well he has a humanoid head so a regular minifig head will do. That collar mold would be pretty nice.
  15. Regarding the first post, it probably won't be equivalently priced in other currencies. A 90 dollar set translates to a 110 euro set strangely. Can't speak for many other countries. This means the set will be 140 euros like the CTT and the AT-TE, which is terrible (though a better deal than the CTT as you get more pieces and IMO a better build.) I would be fine if it were 90 dollars and thus (a terribly converted) 110 euros actually. The emotional connection that DarthTwoShedsJackson speaks of would have worked at that price, but not for more than that. It should've had at least one new mold then (for a new character like the Seventh Sister) or for Ahsoka's headpiece (though I'll reserve judgement about the reuse of Shaak Ti's piece when there are better pictures available).
  16. They now apparently think an age-appropriate building experience is some kind of cool feature of the set and that you should be thankful that it is included as well. These descriptions are becoming weirder and weirder. I'm hoping for a great engine design on the Frigate. I'd hate to see the additional engines in the wings that Phoenix Home has being left off as I cannot seem to locate them through the seems of said wings on the main picture.
  17. Thanks for the description. Lego uses the word make-belief a lot in the new descriptions. Sometimes when I read them I can't help but think of the fact that whoever is writing these has a very limited number of ways to explain stuff. It also seems that some of the persons who write this aren't really all that well in touch with the product itself (which is not the case here, but Jang pointed that out a few times in his reviews). I hope this interior they're talking about is substantial enough and not the usual 'wow look space for one and a half minifig, one control panel and two clips for weapons'. The price is terrible. The presumed 90 dollars (which would still translate to 110 euros nowadays) was great and the 110 euros is passable, but it's just way too expensive now (probably being 140 euros). I know this isn't the place for complaining about prices but it is obvious that the price matters a whole lot, considering some people that WERE interested in the REST of the set are completely put off about it. @JPN366 I am happy with resellers, as I am now able to get old sealed sets that I still really want. It's just too bad most of them are considering the service that they're giving you (storing an old set for all those years) is worth another 3 times the original price. I don't think the Seventh Sister will be in a polybag, as she would require a new mold. That whole retail exclusive sets not having new molds rule is pathetic, especially now that they're charging way too much for the Frigate. (Also 100th post yay)
  18. I'm hoping for more and better images of the Rebel Combat Frigate. Hopefully they'll be released soon (though there is a possibility that the set might be released within a month I suppose). I really want a better look at the Ahsoka fig and the interior and the rear of the ship, or alternative features.
  19. Didn't HF actually sell pretty well? That's what I've been hearing in the past few months. No real sources though… but there isn't any evidence against it either.
  20. I actually love the over-complexity of G1's story. I kinda skipped over the stuff that was getting too vague when I was a kid but right now I'm stunned every time I discover something new of G1 (which also explains why G1 collapsed under itself in the end, me as a kid and many others couldn't follow everything that easily anymore. I'm just saying I really enjoy the complexity right now). Everything about G2's story and formula has been said before here. It is too simplistic. I kinda liked JtO, but it didn't really leave a great impression behind. I agree with the 'villain of the week' type of storytelling, it is a little weak. Maybe they still have some surprises left near the end of the toy line, whenever that will be (that don't have anything to do with a giant robot of course). While G1 started a little more complicated, both that and G2's first years were basically six heroes on adventure on an exotic island. G2 could still grow. It might be a little too late to invest in it though, as again the marketing is almost non-existent.
  21. I googled the store you mentioned, that's why I thought you lived in England. I can't say I can recommend stores since I'm not American. The only overseas online store I use is Amazon, but price-wise that's as bad as Ebay. There are a ton of those online stores here in the Netherlands, so you should try to find a good local store online or just keep searching for the products you want. I also got some of these sets on a Dutch Ebay-type of site where most sellers don't really understand the value of some of the sealed sets, which is great for me. There's also Bricklink. Deals come and go there so I recommend checking frequently. Maybe you should try other marketplace sites with individual vendors. This method has been mentioned a couple of posts back but thanks anyway. It works very well.
  22. @Maskmaker of Light I don't know where you live (I presume England) but I can't find them in any physical stores in my area. I found all of the sets that I currently have from this wave online. I usually always shop online for recent Star Wars and Bionicle sets, cause it's a lot cheaper of course. These old IFB sets were very cheap as well, though because I found one or two sets per different store I ended up paying a little more than original RRP because of shipping, which is fine. Normally I'd buy a whole bunch of sets at once. I keep complaining about European prices, but I usually get sets for very cheap anyway. Apart from what can be seen on that photo, I now have the Evo XL machine, Splitter Beast, Tunneler Beast and Bulk Drill Machine. I'm planning on getting Queen Beast later on, since it's not that difficult to find online. The Jet, Freeze and Flea Machines are completely disappeared from the planet I think, at least for non-Ebay-rip-off-prices.
  23. Is there an easy way of checking which licensed parts are available to purchase once in a while?
  24. Just built Jaw Beast and I don't think that small armor piece that represents his chest fits all the way. Either the armor piece doesn't clip on the ball joint entirely or the 3M grey beam underneath won't go all the way on the technic pins. The latter is how I kept it. I can't believe something so obvious made it through the reviews, though it's not the worst thing ever.
  25. I always use the edges of the little cardboard boxes that you get with sets that have capes and/or rubber bands. Works fantastically, even though it's not as thin as the sticker sheet. Rest of my methods are the same as Brickr. I usually build a small assembly of the parts included in the set as a guideline to determine the center of the part when it's really unclear where that is or where to place the sticker. Well Lego always shows the vehicles in motion (on the box) as if some trooper is driving it, thereby both admitting and hiding the fact that there aren't enough troopers included. Well, there are in the RO tank set, but the trooper that's supposed to be driving it just walks along just to show 'how much stuff you get'. The sets that I mean by the previous statement are sets like the 2016 or 2010 Clone Turbo Tank or the 2008 AT-TE (seriously who's driving that thing).
