  1. The Unkar's Brute minifigure is a lot more interesting than the actual May the Fourth promo, but he's a little plain. Still a nice one to add to the collection, especially with Encounter on Jakku coming up. I got last years Sith Infiltrator with 10% off and a free stormie. Honestly, even with all of the negativity I still want both this stormtrooper and the Assault on Hoth. I completely bashed that set the last few days, but I don't have a Hoth base hangar door yet so this is the closest thing to it. I'll wait till the price will be lowered, which I hope will be the case with all of the negative reception. There's no way I'm paying that outrageous price for such a mediocre playset.
  2. The metallic silver ones are the best I think. The old chrome stands out a little too much, compared to the other overall very consistent level of detail in Lego sets. It wasn't durable at all, that's what I hate about them, though I think they were fine in general. The grey ones are incredibly dull to me for some reason, that's why I don't understand why some of them have it on number one. The new metallic silver ones are a great compromise. I do agree that the grey ones are great for detailing and greebles.
  3. So, we all know that only the front torso printing is exclusive to this May the Fourth minifig, because of the two extra pouches near the chest and the smaller three white… rectangular… things on the vest. But I spotted another difference and it is so mind-blowing that it gives me an incentive to get this figure right away: on the regular Heavy Gunner from the battle pack, you can see a little bit of his regular white stormtrooper belt near the hips, underneath the vest. On the new figure, the vest has been lowered just a tiny bit, so you cannot see said white belt printing. Amazing!
  4. This actually makes a lot of sense. I haven't watched JtO yet so I don't know a whole lot of this years story. In fact, I have Lewa, Uxar, Gali and Pohatu but I haven't built them yet. Just too busy lately...
  5. Is it certain that Akida is a she, though? Since the most masculine Protector turned out to be female…
  6. The only thing in the Insult on Hoth that is scaled like a UCS set is the E-web blaster cannon. It's just incredible how oversized it is and this unbelievably large and detailed model has been made even better with the addition of a stud shooter - a must for every UCS set. I've read the Brickset review of the Cap'n too and it's just a perfect review. Nothing has been left intact. I hope LEGO listens...
  7. We already discussed why both her old headpiece and the Shaak Ti headpiece wouldn't work on her new minifig, but I found another reason: the old piece has her Akul tooth headdress moulded into it, which she doesn't have anymore. I'd be very disappointed with the minifig if they do reuse the old piece, so I hope you don't have confirmation on that yet. I don't believe it can still be the standout minifigure if they screw that part up.
  8. I like Lava and Storm Beast. Storm is a little awkward in some places, but his color scheme and function make up for it. Not too fond of their lower leg designs. Ekimu's growing on me. He's kinda simple, but doesn't do anything wrong either. I like that he has both 2015 and 2016 gear functions. His back coverage is terrific. Umarak's not that bad, but he's kinda disappointing. His back and his neck are very empty. I don't really like Quake Beast, but I think I'm going to buy him anyway. My main problem with the summer wave is that it doesn't solve last year's summer wave problems. It actually does it worse. There were only four villains and a 'big bad' last year, now there are only three because the new Ekimu takes up a slot. Again, there are too few villains to fight the Toa, and all of the villains are only 15 dollar/euro sets. Not only that, but just like last year, the 15 dollar sets are way smaller than the 15 dollar Toa sets. You could argue that although there is one less villain, you're getting a huge über-villain in return in the form of Umarak the Destroyer. But he can't coexist with his Hunter form from the winter wave, while all of the Skull Creatures could coexist with Lord of Skull Spiders.
  9. I can't wait for that polybag to come out. The cloth piece may seem a bit random on Tahu but it could be useful (well, not to me as I'm not really a MOC'er, but I'd like to see what other people can use it for. I'm just randomly going to slap it onto one of the existing characters I guess).
  10. This is the best Star Destroyer MOC I've ever seen! It's huge and it's very nice that it has an interior (a very detailed and spacious interior too). I like the selection of figures that you made and it's awesome that you managed to make a pretty realistic hangar that fits ships
  11. Very nice, it could be an official set. I also like the way the stored blaster has a purpose on the model itself.
  12. Forgot about those two sets. Though from 2012-2015 there haven't been new moulds in retailer exclusives, which is strange. This could've led to the not so well established 'rule'. You are right, it's not a known fact. Well, the Fifth Brother alone had two new moulds (his armor too), so I guess two moulds for two characters is possible. They better release the Seventh Sister now, cuz I don't think we'll be seeing a lot more of her.
  13. No I actually did mean the retail exclusives. Looking back at 2012, Palpatine's Arrest and Pre Vizsla's Mandalorian Fighter had no new moulds. The Starhopper and the Defender-class Cruiser from 2013 had no new moulds either. It would indeed be a stupid move by LEGO, but I'm afraid they're not changing their policy in regards to retail exclusives. Putting Ahsoka in such a set instead of a regular one is where it pretty much can go wrong...
  14. So if the rumored Ahsoka set will be a retail exclusive, how well are the minifigs going to turn out? I was under the impression that retail exclusive sets don't feature any new molds. The new Ahsoka fig definitely needs a new mold for the headpiece, since the old one is obviously too short and Shaak Ti's headpiece just doesn't have the right shape. Also, if the Seventh Sister is included, which I hope will be true, she'll need a new mould for her helmet as well. They could replicate her retracting mask by using a double sided face, so one new mould for her would suffice.
  15. So, the Assault on Hoth isn't much of an assault, since it comes with only two Snowtroopers and a puny speeder bike. I guess they try to make up for it with their oversized E-web cannon. Furthermore, the base itself is a disjointed mess of various unfinished small retail sets, most of which have been released before. The ion cannon is new but looks terribly unfinished from the back and has an awful spring loaded shooter integration (a cool repeating shooting function though), the shield generator is new but has 3 discs instead of 4 and the other new thing is a cart which looks pretty good. Then there's the trenches, which look quite okay, except for the six stud shooter integration. The spring loaded shooters stick out as well. The door looks great, but the back shows a lot of technic liftarms and it's not covered up well for such an expensive set. The command room and the tauntaun stable don't integrate in all that well and the addition of the Wampa cave in an already messy set is beyond me. The base has no interior whatsoever and precious parts budget has been spent on an inaccurate watch tower, because the designer thought it was a good idea to add something from Ep IV in here. It also comes with the Nth Snowspeeder, which is not surprising. Leia is omitted and Han doesn't have his hood like he has in the cheaper 75138, which has a turret that doesn't go that will with the design seen here. The biggest problem is obviously the designation 'UCS'. This is not a UCS set, it's a glorified playset for children and let's be honest: what kid could afford a set like this? We were promised a 'UCS' Echo Base a couple of years ago, that's why we're so disappointed. It probably wouldn't be as badly received then, but it's just too bad to see a slot at this price point be dedicated to this mishmash of previous sets instead of giving us a proper base. Hardly any kid can get this, adults don't see it as a proper displayable UCS, there's no assault and even after you paid that ridiculous sum of money you are still required to get the AT-AT set for a proper assault, which has been discontinued. Well done, LEGO Ok rant over
  16. Hi, it's my first post here. I've been following this thread for a couple of years and decided to join the discussion. I can't wait for the A-wing and TIE Advanced set, though I wish the A-wing would have been the blue one with the white arrow from the McQuarrie concept art. It's still the best A-wing to date I believe, they nailed the engines too. The AT-TE looks amazing, though its interior could have been better and another minifigure would be nice. The clones are a little plain. It's too bad the Encounter on Jakku looks so messy, as you can't have enough location based sets. Horribly overpriced, too. I already have Poe's black X-wing, but I love the blue color scheme so I will pick the new one up too. Shame they still didn't fix the wing issue, but at least they both look consistent.
