  1. I really wanted to see Yoda's hut revisited as well, but the CW s6 interceptor is even better IMO. Thinking about it, it's still Dagobah related. It's nice to see another CW set. I hope a couple more sets will be released, as TCW remains one of my favorite SW pieces. Maybe one could count the 2015 Senate Commando BP as a CW set, since those guys don't appear elsewhere. They did have a non-stylized design though and because of that I've always wondered if CW sets after 2015 would follow the same route, at least with eye printing (just like Rebels sets).
  2. The same building technique was also used on the 2013 UCS X-wing. You might want to check out those instructions.
  3. I think 2016 is the worst year ever for Lego Star Wars. Since 2010, the detail within the line has increased exponentially and each year was better than the last one (though I personally like 2011 a little more than 2012 but they were all incredibly solid years) up until 2014. Up until then, the prices kept rising, but the prices were still reasonable for the increased quality that you got. 2014 really started the trend of sets becoming smaller but more detailed, but in the case of the ISD it was a great compromise. 2013 and '14 are by far my favorite years for Lego Star Wars. The stud shooters and the overuse of spring-loaded shooters didn't even bug me. The models were great and there were plenty of figures as well. Back in the day, people complained that they made mediocre sets with an awesome minifig lineup, but at least the figures were there and they were some of the most advanced in the entirety of Lego, detail-wise. This trend continued into 2015. 2015 has been pretty good as well, but as soon as the TFA wave hit tons of people were almost priced out of collecting. We knew Lego was expensive, but this was ridiculously getting out of hand. Now, in 2016, we have the worst UCS set ever, 110 dollar / 140 euro sets with only five under-detailed figures and small models with under 1000 pieces, a terrible rendition of Obi-Wan's Jedi Interceptor (they should've just recolored the 2014 version), cash-grab Freemaker adventure sets (with one being quite okay and the other being the most ugly Lego model ever) that waste slots on potential new movie and Rebels sets and an incredible lack of desirable minifigures because the minifigure lineups are some of the most repetitive and lazy choices in a while. Back in the day we could at least get them, now we're running short of tons of characters that we'll probably never get the chance of seeing again because there's so much new SW content coming out. And then there's the lack of new molds and other molding and printing techniques that other licensed and non-licensed minifigs from other themes do have.
  4. So I read that for this Makuta model, you need pieces from LoSS, MM vs SG, Ikir, Uniter Tahu, Uniter Onua and both versions of Umarak. If someone makes the instructions, will he also include a parts list and a recommendation on which sets to get extra copies of? For instance, Makuta uses around 50 of Ikir's 77 pieces, so it's best to get another Ikir. Makuta only uses 5 pieces from UtH, so you're better off at buying those pieces separately.
  5. I have always liked the 2002 version the most. It is kinda accurate but it is very close to proper minifig scale and it actually curls up into a ball. The others either don't curl up at all or are a big mess when they do.
  6. Indeed, the only special thing with the Deathtrooper is the helmet. That looks fantastic. The rest of the printing kinda lacks depth. It's way too black (though that is to be expected). I'm sure the final fig will come with a soft pauldron though, which would help a lot.
  7. Except for the hair. But it needs to be cut off there because of the backpack. No dreadlock details whatsoever though.
  8. http://brickset.com/reviews/50478 Build Your Own Adventure LEGO book with Y-Wing Microfighter review
  9. I'd cut my entire lower body off just to get that Duel of the Fates set.
  10. If they're going for a sphere shaped DS playset, then it'll be the full sphere I think, not a hemisphere as that would kinda defeat the purpose of giving it an actual shape.
  11. http://i.ebayimg.com...xXl7Dn/$_57.JPG Picture of the back of the box of the Frigate. Only one truly new picture to be seen amongst the features. Still no good look at the cockpit. It does surprisingly little for such an expensive set… Too bad I'm constantly complaining and such. I wish it was different, since I joined EB not too long ago. I guess I never hated my own hobby this much before.
  12. I think it's going to be in the same style as 10188, just more detailed with modern building techniques (in that case I don't need it as the 10188, while not using the most modern pieces, looks as accurate as it can be room-wise). I'm hoping it'll be a fully enclosed version with rooms though, it would be different enough for me to buy it. At a 500 dollar price point I think it's still possible. It'll just have a smaller diameter and three floors instead of three-and-a-half. That way there's still plenty of budget left for outer panels and the necessary detailing on the inside. If we're going with this hemisphere idea, I think it'll look like the 10143 on the outside, with one half being the incomplete one and the other being the fully constructed one. The latter would then be able to open up like the version I mentioned above.
  13. The Frigate will be released worldwide on August 1st. Hopefully there's some nice details in the front cockpit to make up for the terribly plain middle room and empty back section. I'd like to see some reviews soon.
  14. I wouldn't call it the best one yet. Its cannons are hugely oversized compared to its head, which in turn is oversized compared to the body. It does have its charm though. The body has some interesting shaping.
  15. But they chose a different hair piece for him in the TFA sets because his hair is very different in the movie. It's a lot more 'fuzzy'. Using that piece in brown on an OT Han wouldn't be really accurate. He needs a new hairpiece for that. Though I'm so used to seeing a classic Han with that old hairpiece that I just cannot picture a Lego design that matches the OT.
  16. That happened exclusively to the US and I think it was an accident of some sorts.
  17. Tank and Shore Troopers seem a lot more specialized and therefore less common to me.
  18. I suddenly came up with an explanation as to why Lego made the Rebel Combat Frigate partially dark red. Maybe they were trying to approximate the color scheme that it had in The Clone Wars, since it originates from that era. They probably thought it was a good idea so that kids can use it as either the CW or the Rebels version. If that's the case, I'm just as disappointed as before. There might now be a reason for the inaccurate color scheme, but it's still inaccurate. They've chosen not to make the CW version in the past so they should've made the Rebels version as accurate as possible since they opted for that variant and they failed incredibly.
  19. Or just give Ezra a new face with 2 scars. In this age of new content, we're missing out on that too.
  20. Well they give all female aliens those non-standard eyes so I'm fine with that. Again, her torso, legs and head are great, but that headpiece is terrible. I didn't mind the CW faces that much (though some looked weird) but in the case of Ahsoka it worked incredibly well since she had eyes that were stylized to be bigger in the show anyway. Especially her S3 minifig nailed the blue-eyed look. I think standard black eyes on her Rebels version wouldn't show up all that well. EDIT: just saw the new pictures of the Frigate. They indeed managed to make the most boring interior ever, with no accuracy or recognisable part whatsoever. It was as I thought, just a few places for minifigs and clips for holding stuff. Another €140 set that's lazily put together. Also, nice false advertising on the box art (white lightsabers).
  21. I may be getting the Drop Ship from 2010 but I don't know how compatible with later CCBS hero pilots it really is. Does anyone have a picture of a 2.0 or 3.0 Hero (preferably one with the standard 2011 body configuration and two hands like Surge 2.0) posed as comfortably as possible inside the cockpit? I'd really appreciate it, since I wasn't able to find such pictures.
  22. Well they're both a little off scale-wise. 7675 is slightly bigger so comes closer to the overall size, but 75157 is better proportioned. Seeing as they're both a little off I'd go for the one that looks best by itself, so 75157 for its proportions (that is not counting the cobbled together steampunk look of the set, if you want a regular and well proportioned AT-TE you'll need 75019 from 2013).
  23. Well the Skullies weren't all that gappy but the huge cavity behind Kulta's chest was inexcusable from a design perspective.
  24. I think the price per piece for the DS will not be as good as the Disney Castle or the Big Ben. We should consider ourselves lucky if the ratio even comes close to the old DS (3800 pieces for €/$ 420)
  25. Do you have a credible source for this? It seems very unlikely to me that it will have more minifigures. We're lucky if it even has the same amount, since they'll be a lot more detailed (granted, that's just a Lego standard right now, but still, it'll probably have quality over quantity).
