That's indeed a great MOC, Greenstar! But 1. the busses are imo too old style for the regular Lego City theme. And 2. I don't like the CC series style buildings because of their closed backs of the buildings. Thanks.

So there's a new and big idea which would be a dream if TLG released it: Downtown Lego City (D2C 18+ set) Experience a day in downtown Lego City! Imagine you're a buisness woman or man. Drive with the civilian car into the city. Go to work into the Sky Tower skyscraper. On the first floor you find the info desk and a lounge, on the second floor there's the doctor's office with a waiting room with reception and a surgery. On the second floor there's a hightech laboratory with air-lock room and the laboratory itself. On the third floor you find the HQ of the famous Octan company - one room is an open-plan office and the other room is the boss' office. On the fourth floor there's the TV 5+ capitol news studio which contains the news studio itself and the director's room. And on top of the roof you find TV antennas. Imagine you are a window cleaner. Clean the front of the SKy Tower with the window cleaner's elevator which can be driven up and down and all around the whole glass facade of the building. Imagine you're a teen. Have some free time in downtown Lego City with driving around with your bicycle or longboard. Go to the candy tricycle and choose between lollipop, popcorn and chocolate. Imagine you have broken your foot some time ago and need to sit in a wheelchair at the moment. Let you drive with the handicapped accessible taxi into the city. Read the plate on the rider's statue of a famous prince. Then sit down on the bench next to the duck pond and watch the ducks swimming around. At the same time you listen to the music of the street organ. Does the player have a monkey who welcomes you with putting his hat up and down? Yes, he does. Imagine you are a young mother or young father. Take your baby carriage. Visit the Grand Store emporium. On the first floor you find clocks and jewelry and even chocolate and several sorts of candy. On the second floor you get clothes and everything you need for in- and outdoor sports. And on the third floor a lot of different toys are sold. You will find everything you need! Imagine you are a supplier. Drive with your huge delivery truck to the entrance of the Grand Store. Operate the lifting ramp in the back of your truck to get in- and outside the truck with your goods. Then take the pallette joe to bring the goods into the store. Imagine you are a bridal pair. Take the rickshaw to the city hall. In the left room downstairs you meet the registrar in the registry office and you marriage. Imagine you are the city's mayor. Go the the city hall. Downstairs in the room on the right side your read in the library what a good mayor has to do. Then you go upstairs into the big meeting room and prepair for the municipal council meeting. Imagine you are a pilot. Steer the small propeller plane and fly around the huge Lego ad so that everyone in Lego City sees how big and cool Lego is. This set contains a 16x16 corner-base skyscraper with five floors, a 16x32 base emporium with three floors and a 16x32 base city hall with two floors. There are nine vehicles: a civilian car, a big delivery truck, a small propeller plane, a handicapped accessible taxi, a rickshaw with place for the driver in the front and two passengers in the back, a candy tricycle, a bicycle, a wheelchair and a longboard. A toal number of 25 minifigs is included: longboarder male teen, bicycle female teen, handicapped old man, taxi driver, street organ player, window cleaner, supplier, city's mayor, civilian car driver, rickshaw driver, bride, groom, city's mayor, pilot, registrar, mother, father, baby, Octan boss, officer, doctor, candy vendor, two emporium vendors and a kid. There are many new elements: a completely new molded longboard, a monkey in black, a brick-built baby carriage, a brick-built street organ, a brick-built rider's statue with a compelte black horse and minifig, a male duck, a female duck and a bicycle in dark blue. Simply have a lot of fun in Downtown Lego City! What do you think?

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Klaus-Dieter replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
I didn't think of a barber shop and an electronics store although there haven't been any inside the City theme so far - and yes, they sound a great idea, @Brandon Pea. Esp. the electronics shop - if TLG wanted to, they could even release a small smartphone shop instead which for sure even kids and teens would like. In contrast I don't think that we'll already now get a new car dealership. And a hardware shop and a school are imo much better as stand-alone sets. Which I completely agree with is that we do need a food delivery truck - or at least any kind of delivery truck. Where should the shops get there stuff they sell otherwise?! TLG has been learning (even from us AFOLS) in the past years and more and more civilian stuff seems to appear. So since this downtown city set seems to be miminum as huge as the one from 2015, I could well imagine that there'll be one delivery truck included (the set from 2015 had a Lego delivery truck for the Lego Store, too). -
The idea of a complete transit system subtheme sounds interesting, @Brandon Pea. In this case I have to add that we've seen several transit busses over the years plus two trams. But there has been only one overland bus so far - so it's really time for a new one.

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Klaus-Dieter replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Well, let's see what seems likely for the big downtown set: pizza / burger / other food stand - Til now every bigger city set had a food stand, so it's very supposable that there'll be one, too cycle shop - The last bicycle shop was released back in 2013 in the City theme and back in 2014 in the Creator 3 in 1 theme. music store - TLG has release already so decent number of music instruments (saxophone, guitar, flute, rattle, trumpet. e-guitar, e-bass), so this would be possible and even completely new. Lego Store - The last Lego Store was released two years ago as an exclusive set and the last city set that had one was back in 2015. So - although I'd prefer another shop over it since I already have 2,5 different Lego Stores - it seems likely that there'll be one. grocery - The minifigs need some food and drink. Imo a seperate big supermarket would be better, but a small, old grocery would be nice, too. jewelry - I think of the new police special forces painting which gives me the impression that there has to be something to break in for a burglar to hunt him. museum - In principle we had a museum in 2018. But it was very small and kept in a modern style. So I could nevertheless see a museum in ancient architectual style and with different exhibits. tram station - This is nearly for sure since the rumor says that there'll be a tram included in the set. town hall - Especially if this set was the rumored D2C set, then I could very well see this. apartment building - "-" Buildings that seem to be unlikely: coffee shop - There was already one last year. general toy shop - There was already one last year, too. hotel - The 2018 City Exclusive already had one - so no. train station - With after the rumors "only" a tram but no train included in this se, I regrettably don't see the chance for a train station - although one is utterly needed. office building - Regrettably I don't see this, at least not if the set wasn't 18+. sports shop - With last year's Ski Resort containing a winter sports shop, another sports shop (even if it had only summer sports accessories) seems to me unlikely. Do you agree? Do you have some additional ideas? -
Thanks for the info! That engine looks very nice! I only hope that some waggons will be somewhen available seperately, too. Since only the engine itself is a bit boring and therefore more something for someone who only wants to display the set on a shelf but not to integrate it in a trains / city layout. Plus even more I hope that we'll get the rumored elevated train nevertheless - since I personally would have much more need for it than for the crocodile.

Thanks for the info, BrickWild! This hot rod will for sure go very well with this year's tuning workshop. -
I really like this idea, Brandon Pea! It would be something completely new for our cities plus would give kids a lot of play functions. With having some sort of pedagogic responsibility, too, Lego should go away from too many individual cars and release much more public transport. So I would propose following set instead of a car garage: Bus Garage big hall with rolling gates and room for two busses to be repaired, with severeal working space, tools and a lift next to it a travel agency with writing table, three chairs, a computer, a coffee machine, a soda machine, flowers and a wall with leaflets vehicles: big travel bus, small bus with round front and a dark blue bicycle minifigs: two workers, two bus drivers, one officer and two passengers What do you think? Btw: The busses your friend designed look great! I would recommend to make the back part of the bendy bus longer. But otherwise very well done. I esp. like the bus with the round front.

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Klaus-Dieter replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
I bet that TLG released the picture showing pilot, diver and the new Duke Detain to show their customers which sets / themes there are in summer. Imo it wouldn't make sense to put there a minifigure (in this case the new Duke Detain) inside when it will firstly appear next year. So, like already mentioned, I bet that one of the since now unknown City summer sets will include some sort of museum or jewelry break-in in which that new minifigure will fit in. That then there'll be more special forces stuff coming next year, is imo unlikely, bcause the main action (break-in) at that time had already been released. If you asked me, I would say 2021 will see a water police or another prison island theme in winter, a construction side (and of course Great Vehicles) in spring and jungle explorers and coast guard and some civlian stuff in summer. But of course these are only my guesses and I might be wrong. -
LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Klaus-Dieter replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks all for the information! The new AT-AT indeed is a notable improvement over all previous ones: - all needed minifigures for maximum playability included - room for the canon and the speeder to store - great function to get Luke up to the body of the AT-AT - room for two piltos inside The only thing I don't like is that they didn't include a Snowtrooper Commander again. I more and more have the impression that either the big D2C set for (likely) fall or the rumored smaller exclusive set for summer will be a Hoth set. What do you think? -
LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Klaus-Dieter replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Thank you all for the information on the upcoming summer sets! Here are my thoughts: I really don't understand why the Airshow hasn't the 4+ logo on it since this set is extremely <insert that tiresome argument>. In comparison to it, the 4+ Airport looks like a Creator Expert set. Its building looks unfinished. But there are much more detailed and accessory included than in the regular airport set. So for sure a nice set - but I won't buy it. The plane in the regular Airport looks great - I really like it that it has a different style and color in comparison to the big passenger planes of the last two decades. The car-loading-function is something new and nice, too. Plus we're getting a new steward torso print. But the car looks too Creator-ish. And the airport building is only a bad joke. So although the plane itself is great, all in all the set as complete is imo maximum average. The Diver Polybag is a great opportunity to get the new, amazing stingray and the coral piece for a fair price. The 4+ Submarine is ok, but nothing for me. Although the Submarine is for my taste a bit too huge, I really like it - esp. that it looks completely different to the 2015 one. The included minifigs are great, the glow-in-the-dark fish coming out of the rock is a nice and funny addition and the coral reef looks fantastic. I'll wate for more detailed pics - mainly of its interior - to judge the Underwater Base. ??? But imo the best set of all here mentioned so far is the Research Ship. Yes, it's a pity that it consists of two boat hulls. And for 130 Euros the shipwreck definately had to be more decent. And I would have prefered a whale over a big shark. But apart from these points of critics it's fantastic: The big shark looks great, there is a huge bunch of different minifigs included, there is so much accessory plus many different vehicles and there seems to be a quite decent interior to the ship, too. So although I already own the 2015 submarine and search vessel, I plan to buy this year's ones because they offer so many new and great aspects and elements. Btw: I'm curious about whether there'll be an exclusive Maritime Research set this year. Last years, the research theme always got one (2014: arctic plane + arcitc ice breaker, 2015: underwater base, 2016: vulcanoe research heavily helicopter, 2017: jungle heliplane, 2018: arctic plane, 2019: rocket transport). So I think it's likely. What do you think? -
LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Klaus-Dieter replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Thanks for this information1, Maxentius! That is indeed great news! My city definately needs more buildings and shops as well as another tram and some nice additional vehicles are always welcome, too! Let's hope that the buildings will be minimum two floors big and some of them having a 16x16 base, better even a 16x32 base. I bet that the minifigure with the grey beart sitting in front of the steering wheel has the 2015 captain's uniform under the lifejacket. I completely agree that there should be a town hall included - or at least some kind of building in an ancient architectual style like the 2013 museum. A grocery store would of course be nice, too. But I think that it's more likely that we're getting some non-food shops for that set for inside the city - and then a supermarket as a seperate set. And honestly said, I personally would prefer a big supermarket as a stand-alone set over a small grocery store since I already own that grocery store from the Creator 3 in 1 series which goes very well with City buildings. Having seen that new police minifigure some time ago, I bet that the set Maxentius described or another City set this summer has to include some sort of building with a breaking-in function and something to steel - so a museum or a jewelry (a bank is unlikely since there's already one in the police theme - although it's absolutely minimalistic). -
Thanks for all the information! The only set of the summer wave that interests me - and btw this year the only Friends set I'll buy, too - is the boutique which I really like: - two floors - closed sidewalls - great exterior design - nice interior I hope that TLG will continue to release buildings of this kind in the future!
-
Thanks for the information! I was so much looking forward to a nice, colorful freefall tower with some nice side builds like a candy stall or a shooting gallery. And then this: I'm hugely disappointed by this year's "Fairground" set: an overdimensional haunted house without rollercoaster tracks through it and a completely displaced freefall tower inside. Imo that has absolutely nothing to do with a fairground - at least I don't like it because it doesn't go with all previous fairground sets. I've been a huge fan of all previous fairground sets - but this one I for sure won't buy. And I really hope that next year TLG will go back to the good, old fairground sets and give us a nice, happy, colorful and fitting fairground set with some nice side structures!

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Klaus-Dieter replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Instagram has now a picture OS three minifigs for the summer wave: the already known new diver, a pilot (which wears the torso from the Juniors set two years ago or so - I think) and a police officer with a to me unknown special forces torso. Couldthis mean that there'll be even a third subtheme or at least one or two sets centered around police special forces? -
Yes, indeed it's regrettably nearly impossible that we'll see The Castle in the Forest as a set - although imo it would be much more interesting than that Blacksmith Shop (since of blacksmith shops we've been getting severals since now; in contrast there has never been a comeback of the Forestmen). But (like others already mentioned) it really shows TLG how demanded historical themes are and esp. Castle is - against what TLG had claimed til last year. An interesting side note to this: 1. I telephoned the Lego customer service (about something completely different) last week and the staff told me that (after the release of the Barracuda Ideas set) they get a lot of telephone calls saying that they want Pirates and Castle to come back. 2. I've been making the observation over some years now that (at least here in Germany) kids and teens are indeed interested in history. <= So all this hopefully will move TLG to release a new Castle theme in 2021 - but this time please no videogame or fantasy style one, but a nice, classic looking but modern made theme like Kingdoms was (imo til now the best Catle theme ever)!

That's a lovely small layout, @sander1992! I like the very detailed botanic around the minifigs.

[MOC] Western Minifigures [by General Magma]
Klaus-Dieter replied to General Magma's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
These are excellent minifigures, @General Magma! I'm still working on my Western layout and hope to finish it this spring. -
Very well done, @Norton74! I esp. like all these colorful details.
-
That's a great MOC, @sander1992! Is there a secret passage between the house and the tower to outside?

I still can't believe that in more than twenty years of Lego SW we haven't been getting a molded Bantha, Luke's Home and the Jedi Temple yet! But I would go even further - namely I'd like to see a whole D2C Coruscant playset to replay mainly the end of episode 3 (my favourite episode of all SW movies), but even scenes of other parts and episodes: D2C 18+ Coruscant Playset (400-800 Euros) - Jedi Temple (interior: Jedi council room, meditation room, library, padawan training room and security room) with stairs in front - Senate building (interior: Palpatine's office, Palpatine's audience room, corridor and part of the Senate conference hall) with landing platform - tall building (interior: bar downstairs and Padme's and Anakin's apartment upstairs) with landing platform - vehicles: Anakin's fighter, public transport vehicle, Republic Gunship and a "car" (like the smaller vehicle one in 7133: Bounty Hunter Pursuit) - minifigs: Anakin, Padme, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Palpatine, Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, Saesee Tiin, bar keeper, pilot, Clone Commander, 2x Imperial Royal Guard, 2x Clone Pilot, 2x Jedi Padawan and 2x Clone Trooper What do you think of it?

LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Klaus-Dieter replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I must say that no single set of the summer wave sounds interesting to me. I hoped that we at least would get one OT location set - at the best finally Luke's Home with a molded Bantha to go with this year's Landspeeder and Ben's Hut. But it doesn't seem so ... But which I'm really looking forward to is the May 4th Promo. SInce we got an episode 5 and an episode 6 microscale layout last year, I don't understand why there will be another one of episode 6 - why not DS 1 (instead of DS 2) so that we would have an episode 4 layout, too? It may be how it may be - I'm looking forward to it. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Klaus-Dieter replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thank you all very much for the news! There are really some brilliant minifigs in this series - I esp. like the Hiphopper and the Knight. Plus TLG thought of some very nice new elements - I esp. like the drone, the plush bunny and the new turtle. I have to admit that all in all it doesn't give me the impression to be an anniversary series - therefore there are some too generic and too simple minifigs included. But I'm at least happy that we get a normal, non-licensed series and am looking forward to getting some of the minifigs! Yes, I already thought about that, too. But since the divers sets are released only two months after this series, I doubt it. But even if nevertheless, TLG would for sure use a different color (combination) for them in the City sets than in this CMF series. -
These are some great set ideas, @Brandon Pea! But for the moment I'd like to get back to the discussion about the popularity about a TV / studio / news theme: There are indeed so many vehicles and action stuff possible: - pickup with camera on loading platform - car with assembled camera on the side (for car action scenes) - dolly on wheels / on tracks - camera crane on wheels / on tracks - rickshaw with camera - camera drone - mobile (music) stage - big TV broadcast truck (as big as previous police mobile HQs) - big TV helicopter - blowing up scenery - car and stunt action - study cam - news studio camera - green screen / changing screen - small news studio - big TV studio ... Plus with kids these days are much more into the digital world than they were about twenty years ago, I bet that a new TV / studio / news theme would be selling very well - esp. if combined with a smartphone app so that kids can play with the sets and make their own movies with them at the same time!
