MOC: Park der Heiligen Hurtigesse - Park of the Holy Hurtigesse
Klaus-Dieter replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Town
Thanks for your feedback, @Jerry McGlade! I'm a huge fan of nature and parks - so I really enjoy building these in bricks. -
That's an amazing MOC! I esp. like the small huts, the watchtower and these huge brick-built trees.

[ESL-CHIII-Cat B] The Temple of Thabthim

Exceptional idea and great outcome! -
Thank you all for the information! This engine is a true beauty! Only the price is really high. And I'd have prefered it to come in green instead of brown. Plus it's a pity that the engine doesn't have an additional waggon - I personally could very well have lived without the tracks and the collector's batch included. ... But you can't have everything. I only hope that we will see the rumored elevated train nevertheless! Since 1. I always prefer a whole train over a single engine and 2. I would so much like some sort of re-design of the Airport Shuttle with the new rollercoaster tracks - it would fit perfectly in my Lego City. I bet that if the Crocodile sells well (which I bet), then we'll see a steam locomotive with tender next year - maybe something similar to the Emerald Night, maybe something completely different like the second engine you posted. In contrast, which concerns (additional) waggons I'm regrettably not that optimistic that we'll get some since TLG seems to want to release only an exclusive train set which you can use in an layout as well as only for displaying - and an engine with several waggons wouldn't fit lengthwise in a regular sized showcase ...

Very nice walk-to bakery, @Brandon Pea! I only would suggest to lift the wall under the window one stud up.

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

Ah, good point here - I didn't think about that. Yes, that could work fine - so let's hope that this will be the case! If you did this, that would be very nice! -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Klaus-Dieter replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
We had that pizza suit guy piece for the melon suit girl, too. So I thought about what else can it be used for and came to the result that there could be a cheese (piece) suit minifig. What do you think? -
Like always excellent work, @Robert8! I esp. like the violonist - yes, we do need a violine! I'm really looking forward to the end of this year when you're going to reveal your next series.
-
Yes, there actually had been one - for about eighty Euros or so - that's only ill. And then you only have one of it. But I hope that one day TLG will offer us a regular blue or dark blue bicycle in an official set. Thanks! Btw: My work for a new layout slowly comes to an end. If everything works fine, I'm going to present you a complete different and historical layout next month. Here's already a sneek peek (my work of mainly this morning): What could it be?

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Klaus-Dieter replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Not to exclude, but yes, really unlikely since the previous years the people pack was always shown in the summer catalogue and came into regular toy stores at the latest in August. When we trust what one of our members wrote, then we'll get one. But maybe it's the D2C set 60271 - and a D2C set never shows up in the regular customer catalogue. Plus there may be one or more sets to come on shelves in regular toy shops firstly in September - like last years amazing Ski Resort which wasn't shown in the 2019 summer customer catalogue, too. So hope for even one or two more sets (apart from the new city square and the two Special Forces sets) is little, but there is some. I can't agree more! With the Airport subtheme this year, a Fun at the Airport People Pack would have made a lot of sense: Imagine a lot of different aged and looking passengers, some old suitcases and some new suitcases, a buggy and a small airport service vehicle - now that would have had been really cool! But I would have liked an allround usuable Fun at Downtown Lego City, too: Imainge many different minifigs here, too, plus a bench, a candy trike, a small tree, some road signs and signals and a buggy - now that would have had been really cool, too! Yeah, so many great possiblites, like you said ... Here in Germany it is, too. So I'd assume that it's sold out everywhere, too. -

After having had a look into the complete customer catalogue for the second half of 2020 (German version) at I made following discovery: No single City set is there listed for August or later (even not the two Special Forces sets). In the last years, we've always getting minimum two civilian sets for regular sale in July or August (2019: Donut Shop Opening + 4+ Gas Station + Fun at the Fairground People Pack, 2018: Hospital + Outdoor Adventures People Pack, 2017: Bus Station + Cargo Terminal + Fun at the Beach People Pack, 2016: Gas Station + Fun in the Park People Pack, 2015: City Square). Since these had been excellent (civilian) sets, I automatically came from that this trend will hold on. It's really bad that there's nothing this summer - at the same time last year I had already built up the donut shop set and the fairground people! -
Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Klaus-Dieter replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
Thanks for the picture of the 2020 Elf Keychain, @TeriXeri! I don't like elves, so I don't like this key chain, too. As well as the 2020 Happy Santa Key Chain of which you can find a picture at brickset, too: Concering this year's Winter Village set: We come from that this year's Winter VIllage won't be a Creator Expert set anymore, but will already be release under the "18+" theme. The question is: Will this affect the design and the contents of the set? That's hard to say. Imo the 10273 "Haunted House" (written into quotation marks since it's no real haunted house) is a complete let-down for the Fairground theme. So closed backwalls, a house to open with hinges, no side builds, a low number of minifigures, packing too many and too different things in one set and a for a fairground completely unfitting setting (not colorful but gloomy) - big mistakes in 10273 which I hope that TLG won't deface this year's WV set with in the same manner. Since all WV sets so far link following: a detailed and lovely looking building with open backwalls and a nice and cozy interior, some fitting side builds and a lot of minifigures. If TLG didn't continue this, then they would kill the charisma of the WV theme. Since last year saw a fantasy stuff related building, I bet that this year's set will contain only realistic stuff. Since with 18+ the set may be bigger and more pricey and since there wasn't any 10th anniversary declarated set last year, I could well imagine that this year's WV set will contain either two small buildings or a big one. Maybe a town hall, a grocery or a candy shop or chocolate factory (I know, we already had the gingerbread house last year, but candy then would link these two sets - so I don't see any danger that they would compete). Which I don't see are any buildings which we've gotten so far, a sports shop since there was already released one in the fantastic Ski Resort last year and any sort of hut or hotel since it would have the same function like the gingerbread house, namely "only" a housing. -
That's an awesome kiosk! I really like the ambitious architecture and all the details you added around it.

Only one word: Stunning, completely stunning! Do you plan to build your micro city in real life - when bricks in the according color will be available or with bricks of different colors -, too?
-
That does look promising so far! I esp. like the construction you made yourself - it looks really cool and offers a great opportunity for using the train as a subway.

Maybe for kids a decent sized Prison Bus would offer more playbility than a regular police bus: An Armored Bank Securtiy Bus would of course offer a lot of action for a heist, too: And of course a Police Train would be nice, too (til this morning I didn't even know that police trains do exist): TLG could and should see that there are much more possibilities for interesting sets for FOLs of all ages apart from most of the time only releasing the same stuff. Imo the 2017 Police wave (armored bank security van, armored special forces car and police auto transport) and the 2019 Fire wave (fire robot, fire drone, turbo fire truck and fire SUV) were already a step into right direction. So it's really a pity that this year's Police wave and the two Special Forces sets are that a huge step backwards - not only concerning the quality of the majority of the sets, but even their diversity (only the police drone is something special and new).

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Klaus-Dieter replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Thanks all for the information and for posting the video, @Powered by Bricks! 60273 and 60274 are firstly superfluous because they don't offer much new (there's already a police copter for this year and police cars do exist more than necessary) plus secondy they look - like the majority of this year's Police sets - like if they were designed for very, very young kids. When looking at 2020 at a whole, I have to notice that TLG changed the main target audience for many City products from "normal aged" kids to very, very small kids. You can see this in many sets including much simplier built vehicles and no or only very plain and small buildings in this year's Police, Airport and Special Forces sets. And I fear that this trend is going on in the next years, too. So when 2021 set names will get leaked this summer, we shouldn't be too hyped about the one or other set but wait til we'll get pictures to see (and be shocked) what TLG made out of it. Comparing lists of several homepages, it seems only for sure that only 60271 will be released - maybe the two others, too, but not sure. And yes, 60271 will be the D2C set. But til now we even don't know if this is the rumored downtown set or not. I personally don't understand why TLG doesn't give us the rest of the set names plus their prices plus even a short description of these. I mean: Without detailed pictures, a clone brand can't clone the sets (properly). So I bet that the "problem" lays somewhere else, or let's say the marketing strategy ... I agree that the driller on itself doesn't make any sense. Maybe there'll be a building in the rumored downtown set that has an according function. Or maybe 60272 does exist and is another special forces set containing that sort of building. But normally the lower the set numbers of a subtheme is, the smaller the set is. The strange thing is that that City art picture showed DukeDeTan in a special forces outfit, too. So I bet that he'll appear in a set this summer, too - maybe the D2C, but more likely a regular sold set. I wouldn't mind that, too, but honestly and sadly said, I can't imagine that TLG will release one. I can't agree more! Totally agreement here, too! Of course it's not yet sure that there won't be a people pack this year, but it regrettably seems so. If so this would be very disappointing since I always liked these, too. They were alywas very usefull to populate your city with nice and varied minifigures. And so I did always buy several ones. Only last years two minifigure packs were imo not that great because the Space minifigure pack was senseless since the Space sets already included enough minifigures and the Fairground minifigure pack was a bit out of place since there were no fairground sets inside the City theme. So maybe these two minifigure packs didn't sell well and so TLG decided to not release any more? -
I agree with @Brandon Pea that a police bus would be a cool idea, maybe with some kind of riot police officers included: So let's say an updated and much bigger version of 3314. Plus since TLG claims that it is difficult to sell regular City Trains sets, I really do not understand why Lego doesn't release a Fire Train. It would affiliate to the Fire theme and offer much value and much more action than a regular train. It could e. g. look like this model train:

A new Legoland set has shown up on Promobricks: https://www.promobricks.de/legoland-40429-ninjago-world/101087/ Of course the ride is like always in these sets very, very small, but nevertheless this set is imo a great addition to all previous minifig-scale Legoland Park sets! -
Thanks and that's a nice idea, Pdaitabird, but I regrettably have to agree with Brandon Pea that in Lego City all is centered around vehicles and so a building-only-theme would never be released. But I could very well see a huge museum in the Ideas range.

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Klaus-Dieter replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
I forgot about a post office - it could be that one will be in the big city set since there was the small postal plane in the Great Vehicles theme this year plus we haven't seen any post office yet since the start of the City theme in the mid 00s. Btw: I looked it up and came to following result (at least for Germany): Last year all summer sets were available from S@H in June - the June and the July sets plus the Exclusive. This year we haven't heard anything til now about any exclusive City set. (Or could the rumored D2C set be meant with it? And is the D2C set that rumored big city set or not?) Last year the Ski Resort as well as the advent calendar were sold via S@H as well as in regular toy shops since September and we got pics of the Ski Resort only very shortly before its release. To come to a result: I can't imagine that we won't see any civilian sets this year. Plus several fan sites have listed 3-5 more City sets plus the advent calendar for this year. On the one hand if some of them were to be for sale already in some days, I wouldn't understand why we haven't gotten any information about them yet. On the other hand I can't imagine that TLG will release a third - civilian - wave firstly in September - or can you imagine? There are many questions. And I must say that I don't find it very kind of TLG to not give us any kind of information til now. -
I put the rumors in one new topic: The rumor came here: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/172074-lego-city-2020-rumors-speculation-and-discussion/&page=56 Honestly said, after the reveal of the Crocodile, my hopes for the rumored elevated train are nearly zero. Since if it was an 18+ set, I can't imagine that TLG would release two trains related sets the same year. But since there seems to be a tram in the big City set, it's imo absolutely unlikely that another City set the same year will include an elevated train. The only hope would be if the person who saw a picture of that big City set had only a quick look and therefore thought it's a tram although it's an elevated train.
