I don't have anything against Playmobile. I actually walked through one of their stores one day (I've got one 20 minutes away) and thought they had some very cool stuff. I absolutely refuse to buy a single figure though, or I'm doomed, I know it ... I can't handle more manias.

Oh lord, how did you two end up being Statler and Waldorf, my very most favouritest muppets ever? *wub*

Yeah, it's a pretty well known and widely discussed situation, but someone must still be buying sets there (not me). I will pass through one to see if they have anything on clearance, but even that has been non-existant lately. They actually marked up previously clearanced sets back to full price (or their full price in some cases, meaning even more). I'm not sure why they are getting away with it, but as I said, someone is still buying the sets. Only thing I do appreciate is that the one I was in tonight had devoted an entire aisle to just LEGO. Both sides. Top to bottom. Plus all 4 endcaps. Then they had duplo on the next aisle, so it was more like 1 1/2 aisles. That was almost impressive. Wish there had been something for me to buy without feeling like I was getting ripped off.

Is the white paper easier to work with, cheaper, more readily available, or is there some other advantage? I really can't tell the difference, I know that much, so you've managed to do a good job with both types. If you're too worried about matching up the red skirt/slope and torso, just dig through your recent purchases. With LEGO colour consistancy lately, you've probably got one that exact shade (and I really like that figure *wub* ... I'd buy that one myself, assuming this isn't an expensive project).

That be the spirit, matey :) *y*

Peeron has a CMYK chart for LEGO colours, though I don't know how helpful it would be with your specific printer. As for your latest efforts, I loves me the wimmens. Ok, so I figure we've got so many male figures as it is that I tend to focus on the women, but hey, they're great (except the noted green that looks like turquoise). I love the patterns and they appear well applied. It was a hot August afternoon, the kind that makes the sweat boil on the back of your neck. This tuesday was much like every other tuesday in recent memory, the smell of cabbage drifting up from Mulhaney's Pub downstairs, the sounds of the city wafted in on the little breeze that managed to muster it's way through the window slats, the complete lack of business that marked our decent into bankruptcy. It isn't easy being a detective in a town with no secrets. And then, she walked in. It was a woman, a doll, a dame and a half, a sensational tomato who looked as if she

Seems like the place for this ... I need help (well duh, we all knew that ... shush you ... make me ... I will!) *cough* Ok. All better now. When I get the chance, I buy weird old LEGO sets, just to see what's in them or to try to restore a piece of the past. LEGO used to produce a lot of what we would now expect to see in buckets; generic assortments of mostly bricks and windows and such. I like the old ones because they have really useful windows that are no longer in production and to use for restoring other real sets (plus the plastic quality so far has been amazing). I avoid the extremely old pre-ABS bricks, however. Well, in this case (and it really is in a case too), I picked up a set 502-1 which, from my research, was an FAO Schwartz exclusive from Samsonite in 1967. Trick is, according to the peeron inventory, I have a conglomeration of parts from a variety of sets and some from an earlier time period. It's one of those parts that has me stumped. It's sort of like 2 2x2 plates, attached by a thin plastic stem, but they aren't plates, as the bottoms are made like baseplates (can't be stuck on top of anything). The studs have the older style dog-bone LEGO logo and the white plastic is much more of a translucent nature than usual, sort of like pearl white now. I can't even figure out a use for this part, except perhaps to attach two vehicles together from underneath, much like you would a train and it's cars, but I looked up trains from back then and they don't seem to use this (plus it isn't flexible enough to allow turning). It's a complete mystery to me. Ideas? As a reference, I can clearly identify parts in here from possibly an earlier time, but it all depends on how much old stock Samsonite was clearing out. There are a couple of full bodied old style red 1x1 round bricks for example. Oh, and one other weird discovery. I've found a few plates with misaligned LEGO logos. Not something simple like all of them facing at an angle, oh no, this is much more fun. Imagine a 2x4 plate where 7 of the logos are in one direction, and one is turned 90 degrees to the right. Now try a 1x2 plate where the two face each other instead of being in the same direction. How about a 2x4 where 6 are the same, one is 45 degrees from that, and the last one is upside down? It completely shakes my faith in my own understanding of how they are made, since I thought the logos were part of the mold. Apparently, they weren't back then? These are all the dog-bone style era logo, the ones after that are all perfectly aligned. It's a fun little mystery sometimes, except when I can't figure it out.

It's a reporter thing. If you weren't such a <word omitted due to recent protests>, you'd know that. I'll try not to do it too often, kid ace (another reporter term). :-P

Interim result better than expected !!

I'm amazed to see that Aqua Raiders is a success for them so far, but the line doesn't offend me too badly, so it's good to see things going so well. Imagine how they'd do if they had just listened to us all along and reverted back to these more Classic style sets a few years ago. Take it a step further and reintroduce Pirates and watch what happens. Indy will be their ace for the coming year though, as long as they get their production issues in check and ship product quickly and in large quantities. Overall, welcome news, and hopefully just the sign they needed to be sure to take good care of the Classics! -
That's some very interesting work there. I like the hoverdumptruck-transportthingy at the front and having the head light up is a nice touch. Did you ever build a robot big enough for that to serve as the head of? Beyond that... what's the deal with the hair? Rastadroid? X-D

Nice, uh, cake *yoda*! I'd take a piece of that >:-) Happy birthday guys, hope all your ABS dreams came true! You're all so young ... it makes me feel as old as *yoda* sometimes 8-

NOTE TO THE READERS! Sam89 is next on the interviewing hot seat, so if you have any special questions for him, please forward them to Staudie and he'll collect them up for answering (and then I'll imperialshadowify 'em up for posting). That's true, you do make less than me already. Ok, so I'm the anchor who sits in the studio and hosts the whole thing, as well as editor, and you're the reporter in the field. You know, you're outstanding in your field. You should watch that, you might get mauled by a cow out there. Again. :-P That's like asking if the sky is blue, only more obvious >:-) And yes, I knew they belonged in Community all along, but I'll go with General Discussion just to make it easier on you when you decide to move all of his mistakes over here where they're less obvious ;-) Stick with me kid... *wacko*

You know, if they can get this whole Nazi thing worked out, it makes the way for what would be my absolute favourite theme ever ... Hogan's Heroes! Just picture it. Schultz driving the motorcycle, Klink in the sidecar that Hogan and his men have recently 'fixed' and then falling over as Burkhalter drives through the front gate in his half-track to bring Klink his new secret code book, that clearly our boys need to steal. We'd get tons of great vehicles to blow up, trains to blow up, munitions factories to blow up, chemical labs to blow up, bridges to blow up, train tunnels to blow up ... this is becoming a pattern. Well, they'd get a lot of use out of those old dynamite tiles at least. Oh yes... the possibilities! *wacko* Schuuuuuulltz On! *y*

You know, if I'm hosting the show, editing the answers, making all the jokes, and you're just collecting the Q&A, that makes you my secretary! >:-) Funny, I could have sworn I put in a request for a tall blonde. ;-)

An eBay find that just made me laugh too hard
Shadows replied to Shadows's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Today folks we have two entries in the hall of WTF. The first is a little shipping gouging routine that made me question my sanity. Lot of 13 lego Backpack air tanks excellent Calculating mine, it came up at almost $19. I have to wonder if those are full scale instead of minifig, but hey, "most are in new condition" *wacko* The second one isn't really so much the auction or the seller, it's my warped mind. I'm not even linking to it, just quoting the title and then the title I read it as. You fill in your own joke. I've got your poll right here, buddy, right HERE! (Thanks :'-) ) Woohoo! Not the contest, issue 3! I *wub* the comic. Heck, I should put it in my sig too! You know, Sinner's no-enter trick worked so well that I may do something new in my sig. Small banners for the contests. Not those huge ones people make, but just big enough to show what they are and serve as a reminder/link. 3 across, 3 or 4 down, wouldn't be any bigger than now really. Speaking of which, be sure to read the interview with the interviewer, you were prominently mentioned, of course. >:-)

Thanks for the kind words guys! You can look forward to more interviews from Sir Staudie, with a bit of imperialshadows editing and creative arrangement. ;-) I like the idea of announcing the next interview and taking questions from you, then submitting them with the intended questions for a bit of viewer interraction, so we may try that again. Thanks for the great questions, and don't worry, I'll get some details on that gluing incident as well ;-)

B-OV-3D I was told to enter the damn thing, so I am >:-( :'-) I'm probably late too, it's been that kind of day (I did look at cameras though and I'm waiting for a deal). Therfore, we get the non-buildable digital entry! :-$ http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=237330 Thumbnails for the rest, all in the gallery. They're a little big on a slow connection. Now, anyone who votes for me is an idiot, so nyah! :-P Seriously though, thanks for insisting I enter, even though I didn't want to. This whole thing was a lot of fun until the camera failure, even the pressure of waiting for orders and such. I fully intend to post the real result of my efforts once I can. I'll also add this, neither this entry or the one I actually built stands a chance against some of the beautiful work up there, I'm really happy to see how creative this community can be! *y*

When I do replace my camera, I'll definitely post the whole thing in MOC's, but I can't imagine plotting the whole thing out for a digital render. I'm so sick of Chinese restaurants now I don't even want to go to a real one :-X Here is the gallery for the original one that I refuse to enter since it isn't really buildable (I sure couldn't, and I tried before reworking the whole thing). Best estimate I had made it more expensive than Cafe Corner, because of the colour and part selection. Not the greatest planning in the world. Brickshelf Gallery (anyone know how to make this post small images next to each other instead of down the page?) As for borrowing a camera, not that I can think of. Best I could manage would be unviewable cell phone pics (not even mine, I despise the things). I'm just sorry for saying I'd enter, spamming up the thread, and then having to crap out like this. :'-(

This is an interview with a member of the community, where better than here? |-/ Oh, and who says they'll be a next time? ;-) Guess you folks had better continue to tune in to see if we'll be back next week with another exciting interview (and whether it'll be here or in general discussion ... I want an Admin's opinion on that one!) X-D

Just as a comment ... anyone think we'll see a flood of the new ones in transclear now that the molds are available? I bet a couple of specialty parts sellers would love to get their hands on a few hundred and sell them on Bricklink. I know I'd buy one, if it was reasonable enough.

Aw, see there? That's what I did today ... I made a new friend! *sweet* X-D

Wow! Those sky shots say one thing to me ... LEGO: Castle ~ The Video Game Relive your greatest adventures battling evil hordes of undead. Will they be driven from the land, or will you end up one of them? Incredible job! *y*

I said someone asked it, and since you never told me who, I just had to make a reasonable guess, didn't I? >:-) At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi, and this time we won't be wearing pants. 8-
