Fabuland Hot Rod Roadster: First Fabuland Creation by Sir Nadroj
Shadows replied to SirNadroj's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yeah, "Container, Box 4 x 4 x 2 Bottom with Semi-circle Cut-out Ends" made it so clear when I ordered it :-P Still sounds more like something you'd stick a barrel on than the seat of a car. Cool link, btw *sweet* Oh, and watch out, your eyes will stay that way. :-D -
Back when I was a kid, we didn't even have a catalog! We had to march 10 miles uphill in the snow to the toy store to stare at the empty shelves where the sets would be if they ever arrived. So yeah, it's a big secret catalog, people leak information, we drool all over our keyboards in anticipation, then we sign our paychecks over to LEGO. It's a very good system. Don't knock the ice age. Back then we were all hoping for global warming so we used tons of aerosol hairspray in the 80's and guaranteed it! See how much you kids owe us? ;-)

I have to admit, under different circumstances you would have had my vote. IF this had been a "city moc that lego could actually produce or that harkens back to those great 80's sets", it would have been all you. I like creations that actually look like something you could really build without having to go crazy and take up half your collection. *y* As the competition stands, you would have honestly been my 3rd vote, does that make us passing acquaintances? ;-)

Fabuland Hot Rod Roadster: First Fabuland Creation by Sir Nadroj
Shadows replied to SirNadroj's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Nice roadster indeed! *y* I really like fabuland wheels and front ends, I'm going to have to pick some up. Speaking of parts though, the thing that he's sitting in with the curved sides... is that actually meant to be used for that? I have a couple of red ones I picked up from a random Bricklink seller and I never knew just what I'd bought. I sort of pictured them as something to lay a barrel across, but never tried it. As fabuland car doors, it looks good though, so I'll be sure to try that. Whenever I look at fabuland I just think how much better it would be than those 4+ themes they do now. How could a kid not like a parrot with a roadster? Or a monkey with a biplane? Or a walrus with a tugboat? *sigh* I'm getting old. -
An eBay find that just made me laugh too hard
Shadows replied to Shadows's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Shows how much you know, I don't even have $15 in the bank! HA! Er... :'-( I'm 190 last May. EB wouldn't allow me to pick my proper birthday, so it thinks I'm just 90. Or, as Hinckley recently guessed in pm, I'm about his age ;-) -
Embrace the Kitty! I am not in blue. Actions or thoughts are in blue. I'm in italics, like in real life. Hello Kitty On! *y*

I'll be sorely disappointed if it isn't C3P0's head! What a great chance to reuse a part within the Lucas license and it'll crack me up at the same time. So... when do we get an Indy icon for me to abuse? ;-)

This just gets better and better. Marion *wub*, the new Jones Sr. face, plenty of cheap Naboo pilots, the trucks. OH THE TRUCKS! Did I mention Marion? *wub* But is that really a round raised baseplate area in the Temple and what is the hat the guy in front is wearing? (ok, I can't remember names anymore). It almost looks like a pith helmet, but it's clearly green or dark tan or something. I'm thrilled whatever it is. Seems funny that the 'Ark' contains what appears to be a coin and a jewel, but... golden chest, so who cares? I'm curious about the two stands being thrown to the side in the motorcycle chase, the sides of the gate I guess, but they look too detailed to be standard bricks with a tile. Only thing I still hate is the whip. I think our hopes that it will be bendable will be dashed. If it was, they'd show it fully out in a pic somewhere. Ultimately, no matter what I don't like in there, I love these sets. *y*

I hereby diagnosis you with "Too-Much-Hinckley" exposure. Bend over and prepare to take your innuendo shot ;-) And no, you're not the only one, I love that new JSF and the minifigs to Rogue Shadow. I'm just not sold on the ship. Sad too, I love it's name. Well, I hated the new Sith Infiltrator until I got it, so that'll probably be the deal here. I'm a pushover for LEGO and they know it.

An eBay find that just made me laugh too hard

In our ongoing saga, my recent eBay wins have provided me with something new for the thread. Possible account hijacking/attempted fraud. Yes, that's right, intrigue, drama, the perilous and potential loss of $15! *gasp* Ok, so here's the deal. I win an auction, pay immediately using the 'Pay Now' in the auction, but instead of the usual 'Completed' status, the payment is stuck at 'Unclaimed' I write the seller, who explains that they're "between Paypal accounts" 8-| and that Paypal advised them to have bidders "send a check" 8- -
I still think the dropship is crap. Deliciously manned by Stormies and a Shadowtrooper! YES! *y* If there is any sad point, it's expecting those lovely little rebel logos on the scout speeder to be stickers, but I can live with that. I just won't use them, like the rest of the stickers LEGO puts out these days. The AT-AP is interesting. I think you're all right, there is some kind of drop down weapon under it. I wish it was a new type of clone, but we can't expect everything all at once. Rogue Shadow ... I just don't know what to make of it yet, but I like Anakin's JSF, it's a good look and easy modification for other colour schemes. Had hoped to see a new Jedi paired up with it. Overall, it looks like one mid priced ship, 2 at one level below that, and a couple of incredible army builders cheap. Sounds like a win all around to me. 2008 ON! *y*

Yep, entry thread will go up on 10/1, plenty of time for some nice entries. Don't Panic! *y*

Perhaps instead you could get us natelite's address and a good time to, uh, visit? X-D On topic ... 963.

It's from 7787, the new Bat-Tank. It's also going to be in the new Indy sets apparently, which will give us another angle on the sidecar placement. Great job as always Brainbox! (well, at least all today ;-) )

Great work as always! It's the reason you got my vote in the City contest *y* Love the dark blue roof change, that's definitely the way I'd go, even though it's an unexpected colour combination. That's saying a lot considering my desperate love for all things dark red. Only other colour I'd try is dark green if you've got it, but that blue really looks good. Oh heck, I just love all the dark colours and am still annoyed that we don't get more of them. Very nice interior work, especially the little police touches. I would agree that an arched extension to the building would be nice, perhaps leading back into a garage or secure prisoner transport loading area. Can't say enough good things here, just love it! *wub*

An excellent idea and well executed! Lately I've found myself gravitating more and more toward minifigs and accessories, plus the occasional odd piece (things in unusual colours), and I can see using this technique to display those. I still like sets, but they're almost background material now, with the real focus being the characters. It's funny really because under my monitor is my original sigfig on a 4x6 plate, an R2D2 with 3rd leg on a 4x4, a pirate skeleton pinned to a ships wheel by a sword on a 6x6, and a few misc figures just standing on their own. Clearly I needed a good standard for them, and 4x4 looks like it. I had considered using those minifig display stands LEGO came out with for a while, but they're all too specific (sports, sw, city, rock raiders, etc) and limit you to a figure and no scenery. Your method takes care of that completely. Great job! *y*

Previously, the community had no idea that SirNadroj had a thing for big girls. X-D Very nice parrot, btw. Are there any issues with having a bird native to Brazil or was it raised here?

In some timezones I'm too late, but I always am anyway ... 8-| Happy Birthday! Hope it was filled with all the things that make birthdays great. LEGO. Cake. Boobies. Some of those can be mixed, and I don't mean LEGO and cake. Or ... oh, you'll figure it out ;-)

History and Adventure are together? That's just wrong. History belongs on it's own and Adventure and Steampunk go together, even though they can both include elements of History. To me, steampunk will always be the classic TV version of the Wild Wild West (not that infernal movie) or maybe The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (I still haven't managed to watch the whole thing though, but it definitely has the mood).

I think I can honestly say that this is the very first time it's happened, so I'll be extra careful to be completely clear. I even made a note of it in my sig so there won't be any misunderstandings or hard feelings. I think of this as a place to share good mocs, good information, and most of all, good times, and we certainly don't want anything spoiling that. I'm sorry that I wasn't clearer.

Mass hysteria! *laughs an evil laugh* It feels so good! *wacko* Really though, it's just kind of a neat diversion, and in some way it shows a bit of the inner person, based on what they choose as a new avatar from a limited selection. So far I've been Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and this alien guy who's name eludes me. Should we ever decide to explore the world of 80's music, I'll be Thomas Dolby. Makes perfect sense to me. X-D

If you'll recall, I didn't want people to vote for me. My MOC can't be built as it appears and I couldn't enter the one I built, so I felt bad potentially taking votes from other more deserving entries. I was still joking about the moron part (I think that's the term I had used in the other thread about it). As I'm sure you know, all smilies are used as a joke to me with only a few exceptions. :-| is definitely one I use as a joke. I tell you, try to display a little honour and get misunderstood. :'-(

Let's see here. There is no official company store there, and if there was, why would they be making private sales on the internet? That out of the way, he could mean he owns a toy store, or is just some kind of employee in a store that sells toys and can use that to his advantage. That said, find out the name of the store, the name of the guy, get a phone number. Google all of them and look for something to confirm a connection. If you have trouble with that, pm me the information and I'll check on it. I'm good at this kind of thing. Off hand, it sounds a bit like an employee somewhere who can either get a discount or steal things, so I'd definitely do some checking before jumping into a deal.

I must admit, someone did a fine job of picking the appropriate avatar for you, you're downright Troytastic *y* Adding to the topic, the Monster Studios line, short lived as it was. Pure brilliance. There's just something about those sets that makes me wish there had been 10 more. That's saying a lot considering how much I generally disapprove of cardboard backdrops, but I just didn't care in this case, the minifigs were so good that they could have packaged them with practically nothing and sold me. Oh man ... Monster Studios Minifig Packs... Collect all your favourite monsters! Can't ... maintain ... consciousness ... *passes out* :-X (well, he looks sick, sort of)
