  1. Very nicely built! Love the car and the amount of detail packed in. Big fan of vigs, and this one is no exception. I especially like dead Anakin and the airline pilot mod fitting in so well. Only thing I would do is have a wall about to fall on Joe Vig Nazi there, just for a twist. >:-)
  2. This is my favourite kind of review, who needs a bunch of blah blah blah, it's got brilliant pics! *wub* *y*
  3. Looks like phred has this mostly covered, but I'll add a bit. Might consider *clang* for heavier swords hitting, and *creak* for wood about to break but not quite there (or the sound of any wood under stress, like the deck as the ship is moving and people are walking around). Outside of *bang*, perhaps a smaller form of *boom* for muskets. Like *BOOM* for cannons and *boom* for muskets, since it's fairly accurate but at different levels. Don't forget these useful sounds ... Flying cannonball: *whoosh* Cannonball hitting water: *splash* or *sploosh* Something falling: *thud* *bang* or *crash* depending on what it is *stops making silly sounds now* :-P
  4. You know, it's important in life to give things a second chance. Don't just assume that because you don't like it the first time, you won't the second. You could miss out on a lot of great things that way. I looked at these sets earlier and felt a churning in my stomach as it tried to kill me, as opposed to allowing me to buy such horrible sets. :-X Being fair, however, I've come back to look again. They still suck. *n* Oh well, can't win them all.
  5. Direct, appealing, conveys exactly the look and feeling it needs. Well done! *y* Perhaps 47 will join in one of the future whacking contests so likely to be had here? ;-)

    Bonne Port

Thanks for sharing this Chenben! I like the way the first pic reminds me of the classic pirates sets, while having a distinct look all it's own. It almost makes me think it could be made on smaller seperate baseplates and connected modular style for an "expand-a-port" effect. There are some very nice techniques used in here, I hope you'll continue to share your progress! *y*
  7. So many wonderful sets ... and then this. Just when you thought they'd figured it all out, they remind us how bad they can be. Oh well, I didn't want more cops anyway.
  8. It's so close to what I wanted that I can't complain. The helmets and some of the odds and ends make up for any shortcomings, and a Target exclusive also means a S@H exclusive, so don't forget to check those LEGO brand stores and online, no reason anyone can't find this one, and I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to. Welcome again Bucky, great way to intro yourself, you're hero of the day *y*
  9. I don't ask the questions, I just edit and heckle to make what I'm given slightly more amusing. There will be a much more indepth interview coming soon, however, where I asked a lot of questions myself. It'll be good, I guarantee it, assuming I ever get a final reply *cough*You-know-who-you-are*cough* I tried that last time with everything of mine in italics, but I sort of take the italics as me mumbling something in the studio while they're out wherever I imagine them doing the interview. Maybe I'll try everything of mine in blue italics next. X-D Like I say, I don't have a lot of participation in the content portion, I'm just presentation decoration, so I can play with colours and styles, just to keep it fresh.
  10. Welcome Bucky! Every day is a good day to join this fine community, glad today was yours! Wouldn't be selling any of those Mining sets on eBay, would you? ;-)
  11. Utterly brilliant for the price! If they would return to real flowers instead of studs, the circle would be complete. It reminds me of the classic 80's catalog where you were touring the countryside and all of the houses were lit with those wired bricks I've never had. I used to just sit and stare at those... They're determined to make me thoroughly happy, while bankrupting me at the same time. *wub*
  12. Just to keep things confusing, we'll be mixing up the posting scheme this time. I'll be in blue, Staudie in red, DoubleT in bold, and my followups to those comments in italics. Eventually, I'll like one of these schemes and stick to it. Welcome to another exciting episode of EB Community News! Our special guest is none other than DoubleT, Co-Creator of EB and all around nice guy, as you'll see tonight. With no further adieu, let's join cub reporter Staudie in the field with DoubleT! Hey Staudie, next time how about doing the interview somewhere nice instead of a field, huh? It was all we had budget for, after you spent all that money on the hot tub that I'm still not allowed in >:-( Ahem, yes, well, that was an important work related expense, so maybe you'd better get back to the interview and I'll go check on the girls ... :-$ Q. DoubleT... Please explain your name, and what is your sigfig? A. My first name is Tomas, so guess what my surname starts with, he he. Jango was my first sigfig, and when Eurobricks started, I was the frontline guy, trying to get friends and sort out problems with the one or two sites that do / did not like us. Sometimes with stealth, and sometimes by being friendly, and sometimes it helps to have viking blood ;-) It's true. I keep a fresh supply in a jar in the refrigerator at all times. Q. You have a mischevious reputation for messing with titles, is there any truth to that? A. Well XwingYoda and Vader are the masters, but even they are not safe, and sometimes I just HAVE to change a title he he Q. What do you mean by "A Joker I am" ? Do you go round throwing pies in people's faces? A. mmmmm Pie... ups sorry, I am a Joker in the sense that I like not to be serious, I love good fun, even silly fun. To make people smile is one of my favorite things. Back when we where only a handfull of people, we had alot of silly crazy Monty Python like topics, with pics text etc. This is now called "Old School" here on Eurobricks, a good way just to relax and forget all the bad things in life, like there still is 3 months to the Indy sets. And the Lord spake, saying, 'First shalt thou shalt announce the Holy Indy Theme. Then, shalt thou count to three months. No more. No less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then, rejoiceth in the presence of the Indy, and forgetteth thy foe the Megablocks, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.' Q. What is your favourite EB moment? And IRL Lego related moment? A. For me its always great to meet my fellow Lego fans at the events and when I get to meet them, they are as silly as me, and its great fun. So (Cheap Plug) come to Billund Next year, all are welcome. Party at DoubleT's! Q. From the member's you've met IRL how can you describe them? A. As nice still people, that are cultivated, sophisticated, and read Jane Austin books after they have sorted all there bricks again....... Naaaah really nice crazy people, that i always look forward to meet. If any of them should happen to read Douglas Adams, I hear EB offers a fine competition, mentioned down below in my sig *cough*Not the only cheap plugger here*cough* Q. Can we see your lair if you have one? A. Well No, the sets and parts boxes are where there is space for them, there are no Lego in the bathroom or kitchen, there are limits. Q. What is your favourite theme and set? A. From is was young I am a Castle guy, all though there are many other great themes. I am very happy with the current Castle line, and I have almost forgot Knights Kingdom theme. Some of us are still trying to forget KKII... Q. Am I annoying? A. Of course The one question we can always count on. *y* Q. Who should we interview next? A. There are many great people here on Eurobricks, ApophisV, Starwars4J, xwingyoda, Vader, Ras74, Copmike etc. So I cant say what person, but there is plenty to choose from. And now back to imperialshadows in the studio! Thanks to DoubleT for joining us, and of course to my very most favourite reporter, Staudie! Aw, thanks, I didn't know you cared :-$ Of course I do, where else am I going to find a reporter who also does my laundry? Why you megablockin' megablocker of a ... *signal dies*
  13. While I know it isn't connected to the original thread, I can't help but agree with natelite about the age range suggestion. In the early days, LEGO catalogs showed the standard pics of kids building (usually the founder's kids) but also featured adults making architectural structures. LEGO itself produced Modulex, used by architects in designing buildings. LEGO has a great deal of adult potential, and it wastes a lot of that by putting an upper age range on it's products and driving away customers who are either ashamed to buy it, or told by their parents that it's "too young for them." To be honest, it's always been a silly system anyway. Didn't you go to school with some kid who was really a couple of years behind and given easier work, as well as the ones who were way ahead of the class? Estimating a toy by age is legally necessary, and in general a good idea, but if something is suggested for 8-12 yrs, or 8+, what's the harm in a 16yr old enjoying it? A lot of early cartoons were intended for adults, but still able to be watched by children. Each group got something different out of the experience. LEGO can be the same way, if people aren't scared away from it by some arbitrary number. Oh, and as for China, look up Shijingshan Amusement Park, a theme park that basically violates every copyright possible, many of which are Disney owned. They claim to be in negotiations over the issue (long after the fact), but none of the companies involved are commenting on that. The funny part? It's owned by the local government there. While they may have theoretical intent to eventually follow some basic laws where it suits them, don't ever expect to see the knockoffs and fakes stopped, it's making far too much money and it's incredibly easy in a country where they're also making the legitimate products. I despise the fact that LEGO has moved some production there and expect it to only make the situation worse in the long run.
  14. The legit competition right now seems to be devoted to completely unrelated lines *cough*Pirates*cough* and the Chinese aren't actually doing it illegally, as they have such shoddy laws that it's legal there. They seem to devote their efforts to the older lines (someone say Pirates again?) and personally, I've never seen one of them for sale anywhere but online. If they're having any effect on TLG, I'd be surprised, but that's something they'd have to fight on a region by region basis, since they can't stop them from being made. As for the online fans getting upset when something isn't the same as the prototypes, sure, that'll happen, but we get just as mad when something isn't made the way we imagine it in our own minds, and sometimes the prototype pics help us get a slightly better idea of just what to expect, instead of those wild ideas we come up with on our own. I think the very bottom line of all is that as soon as quality returns to it's previous levels, combined with what seems like a lot of very good design work, LEGO will be more secure in it's position as the permanent leader in it's field, instead of always having to look over it's shoulder and worry about what the lesser brands will do. Until then, we'll keep staring at grainy pictures of what might be and buying whatever comes out anyway. :-) Thanks for the clarification *y*
  15. Just as a side note, you might consider 1x1 bricks if the mosaic is small enough to allow for that without weight issues. 1x1 bricks are a lot cheaper and available in more colours.
  16. Well Mandy, Hinckley has called me 'is' before and ImperialScouts 'IS', but I can see that getting confusing, as could Impie, so if you want to, you can use Shadows I guess. I don't recall anyone else close to that.
  17. *posts a picture from the Galidor catalog while laughing maniacally* *skull* Scary, huh?
  18. A very interesting premise for a thread, and one that I've found educational. Up to this point, I just don't reply if I can't figure out something to say that is positive. That doesn't happen often, and don't take it personally if I don't reply whenever you (any of you) build something, it's another problem entirely. That problem, is repetition. I can only say the same thing so many times before I feel like I'm being insincere, even if I'm not. I mentioned it in another thread once, but basically it comes down to this. Nice MOC, I like that <detail>, please be sure to share your progress (or something like that). Rinse. Repeat. It's something I need to work on, and am. Specifically to Fartface: You should challenge Hinckley to a build-off, clearly you could take him >:-)
  19. I like it, nice work! *y* Pretty much my view of the SW line, at least as far as existing themes like Hoth, is that a good MOC uses what has already been made, then makes the very most of it with arrangement and addons. You captured my idea of that quite well. *y*
  20. From what I understand, Douglas Adams didn't care for France any more than it cares for him, so I'm not surprised that he isn't a prolific influence. Sad really, I think the two could have shared quite a meaningful relationship under the right circumstances. You wore blue, the Germans wore bley ... *takes his meds* :-$ Better! You know, that would be one killer slogan for the new Indy line... *takes some more meds* :-/ A nickname? Isn't imperialshadows my nickname, or are you telling me that I actually have Imperial for a first name, and Shadows for a last. Whoa, that would be so cool! As for pulling your weight, this whole thing pretty much takes care of itself really. Just make sure you have your entry and help me comment on the ones that are posted (which all look quite excellent so far, I must say) and we're good to go *y*
  21. Shadows

    The Abyss

The tone of the story, the wonderful way in which it's crafted, the tantric sex and the general theme all remind me of Sting. Trust me, that's a pretty high complement from me. Now what is this about not knowing how to do halloween down under? It looks like you did it quite well, aside from being a bit goofy on the timing, which is easily convered since I personally consider halloween a month long event and intend to have avatars and such accordingly throughout. Black Eyes On! *y*
  22. That banner is way too big for me to add, but I will definitely add you to the Billboard o' Doom after this post. I assume that no digital editing also kills my chance for a LDD entry, huh? :-P
  23. What this says to me, more than anything else, is that LEGO couldn't give a flying flip about leaked photos and some places have a stick too far up their 'integrity' to just admit that they don't respect anything any more than we do. If anything, leaking pics gets them some free test marketing from users of varying degrees and types, and no company will turn that down. Oh, and if they screw up that beard thing, I'll be megablocked! >:-(
  24. We thank you, Master *yoda* *y* Will you have time to enter as well?
