  1. *checks his calendar* My, the 12th is approaching quickly, isn't it lads? Get building!
  2. A very good job, lads! Might I suggest that we consider using the available talent for some future Classic-Pirates.com promotions of a more general nature. Something that will get the word out about the site and appeal to both LEGO and non-LEGO fans. Are there non-LEGO fans? I'm sure there are 3 or 4. Let's drag them in as well!
  3. Yes, I've been looking for that one and quite disappointed so far as well. Actually, without derailing the thread too much, how many of the 2008 impulse sets have been actively seen? To keep it close to topic, I picked up the Knight impulse yesterday in a Toys R Us while grabbing some of the Crystal Skull sets on sale. It was the only one they had, and the first time I'd seen one.
  4. Perfectly so. You could even use those legs for something else (but wouldn't be required to). Oh the horror! Oh, and while you're at it, count the parts that make up the replacement legs as 1 part. We'll consider it a new mold since you're presenting it that way. Erdbeereis1: Hurry, hurry! ... and you're most welcome.
  5. Absolutely stunning! I knew you were building The Ravine, I just never expected you to build the whole ravine, and the bridge, and ... wow. Just. Wow. This will now go in my file of great MOCs to steal learn from. About all it needs is a little more Aluvar.
  6. Farewell Castle Month, I knew thee well. Don't forget, the fun continues as we move on to the voting process for the Elflands and Caption contests, and the EB RP continues, so it may not be castle month, but there is still room for more fun. Batbrick: It should come as no surprise that the beautiful History banner is the inspired work of our resident used-to-be-graphist-admin, Hinckley.
  7. Ok, I have to admit it. If this was a contest for who could most creatively misuse their plot to do something unexpected, I was winning for a long time. Then you had to go and pull that. Damn you. I'll have my revenge!
  8. I swear, that almost made me cry!
  9. Shall I remove your Space tag to show that you don't believe in "theme favoritism" As for there being no other movements of this type... who stopped them? They should have organized earlier, because now it would just be a blatant attempt to copy the FBG. So
  10. No, but I wouldn't mind if they actually finished their entries in a time vaguely resembling the stated conclusion of the contest. Yeah, like that's gonna happen.
  11. Would it be a good time to mention that the contest officially ends in 5 days?
  12. Hat, yes. Torso, no. Good luck making it work! Don't forget, the contest is officially slated to end on the 12th, that's 5 days away! Just when will the "oh please Mr. Shadows, can we have a few more days?" begging begin? Might as well get in line now.
  13. As a current participant in the Castle one, let me try making a sample entry for the fun and exciting world of Pirates RPG, as based on the reality of the golden age of piracy and written in Infocom Interactive Fiction style. Day 14 Ocean You are standing on the deck of your ship, the Sea Monkey. > LOOK There is ocean, as far as the eye can see. > LISTEN The men are grumbling a bit about the lack of recent prizes. > WAIT *** Time Passes *** Day 15 Ocean You are standing on the deck of your ship, the Sea Monkey. > LOOK There is ocean, as far as the eye can see. > LISTEN The men are grumbling a bit more about the lack of recent prizes. > WAIT *** Time Passes *** Day 16 Ocean You are standing on the deck of your ship, the Sea Monkey. > LOOK There is ocean, as far as the eye can see. A seagull passes overhead. You can only see out of one eye. > WIPE EYE Wiped. Full sight has been restored. > LISTEN The men are grumbling even more about the lack of recent prizes. > WAIT *** Time Passes *** Day 17 Ocean We're out of rum. A surly group of pirates approach you, and, in their ever subtle fashion, explain the situation. You are thrown overboard with a splash. You are on the surface of the water. > LOOK Ocean, as far as the eye can see, which isn't really that far from down here. You begin to sink. > LISTEN You hear the gentle lapping of waves. You sink a bit more. > PADDLE You are on the surface of the water. > WAIT *** Time Passes *** Day 18 Ocean You have made a valiant effort, but you are too tired to continue to paddle. You sink like a rock. Water fills your lungs. You black out. *** You have died *** Restore, Retry, or Quit? Shall we continue?
  14. No clue if it's a dead perfect match or not, but here is what I use for dark green.
  15. New colours! I considered (or am considering) putting the train logo on the yellow one, if there is any call for Fabuland train employees. Maybe a version of these with a pocket. I don't know. I hate to tell you, but dig up my earliest posts... I've always been Europified.
  16. Very cool! For some reason, I always think of plain torsos with Fabuland, as if they didn't make many printed ones. I think it's because I usually see the plain one for sale. I didn't even consider the possibility that similar things had been done officially. Oh, and I'll just say it now. Monkey in a hat! Awwwww Another thing I didn't consider. Fortunately, all of my colours are easily changed, so the suit could be adjusted. Matter of fact, I think I'll make a couple of other colours and drop them in here. Colour has been one of my big issues anyway, because of cases where I want to leave an exposed neck, but realise that there are so many different coloured characters to accomodate. Before I make any more, I think I need to review the official line, huh?
  17. In the pilot episode of "The Pretender", the main character builds the Empire State building out of LEGO. That model then appears in the opening credits and a number of later episodes (both in the present and flashback). It wasn't a particularly impressive model, aside from it's size. I think he was supposed to have been 6 when he built it, sort of a child prodigy plot.
  18. You may have caught me being lazy. There are a bunch of ice cream related things in Paradisa, that was the first thing that came up in my search.
  19. and Now, it's funny you should mention those, because they're from the very popular but long neglected Paradisa line, and coincidentally, that's what Sinner has planned. We're currently waiting for a large shipment of pink paint, which will be used to convert the old Space Docking Bay into a Paradisa, well, paradise. We hope you'll enjoy this change as much as we'll enjoy bringing it to you. We will be holding a special contest shortly to design the new banner for the forum. Hinckley will be judging them personally, between binge drinking sessions and therapy. Signed, Paradisa Public Relations Office, Stables, and Ice Cream Parlour
  20. They are, and the quality (what we can see) looks very good. That said, I'd like to remind anyone who is considering making an online purchase to carefully evaluate the risks involved and protect themselves in any way possible. While we may comment on the apparent 'value' of a deal like this, we can't know who the seller is, or how honest they may be. That is always the responsibility of you, the buyer. Trade safe!
  21. Very nice review Whitefang! I like this set, it really is a good, basic parts pack for small car parts as you said, and a decent figure with accessories. I'd buy several, if it was out today. Also as you said, it's definitely the Fabuland equivalent of Impulse. You know, you said everything good about this, I'm just going to give it five stars and shut up now. Thanks for the review!
  22. WHOA. Just... whoa. If LEGO would make these, I would buy them. This could be the answer to bringing back Fabuland without launching a massive new line... superdeformed head minifigs! They really are cute. I have no idea whether to include them in the Fabuland index or not... I bet I will. Can you make them a Fabu-jeep?
  23. In this update, he becomes Mo Money Mouse I'd change the roof to grey or black, the rims to grey, and keep it like it is (unless you can do a little something with that roof curve). Then I'd consider it a new model and not an update of the original. As for your other ideas, I'd start over completely and make it an older style from the ground up instead of trying to readapt this. It's what happens to me with decals sometimes. I make one and it isn't working, then I fix it and it turns out to be something else. Then I try to make the something else back into what I wanted, and it never works, frustrating me. At that point, I keep the result I liked and start over on the original intent. Bottom line, I like it, I'd love it without the yellow, I'd definitely keep it and build another as an update. Didn't I just say all that twice? Oh, and very nice job on the folding roof, I'm stealing that sometime.
  24. Aluvar has posted the most ridiculous and self-serving portion of his story. Imagine, thinking he could be chosen as Regulator of the Wizards League... Sorry I've been a bit absent, but luckily I knew the story for me could be put on hold. Basically, I'm in position for the meeting, and unless I want to fabricate some more nonsense, I'll just be waiting for the rest of the delegates to arrive. Hurry, or Aluvar might strike again...
  25. M-10 Dromindur "The Ravine" A tap, tap, tap at Aluvar's window. A banging at the door. Aluvar wakes with a start. Wha-what? Stop this commotion immediately! Aluvar rises from the bed and puts on his robes. He nears the door. Who is it at this unpleasant hour?!?!? I-I-I'm sorry, sir, I'm here to bring you a message, it has just arrived and looked important. A message? Very few people know I'm here, and they shouldn't be sending messages by normal courier. Aluvar opens the door. A small boy stands before him, holding a very large sealed letter. I-I-I'm sorry to have bothered you, sir. My mother thought you should have this. It's all right lad, no bother. Here, for your trouble. Aluvar hands the boy a coin, which immediately brightens his disposition. He quickly thanks him and runs downstairs with his new treasure. Ah, youth... Now, this letter is most curious. Tap, tap, tap. Oh, what now? Aluvar slams the door and goes over to the window where he sees Bluervo and quickly opens it. Bluervo, I'm so glad you're back! You might not be in a minute. Why not? Is something wrong. I'm not sure. Last time I thought I had bad news, it turned out to be good, so I'm being cautious this time. Just tell me. I'll show you. Bluervo flies back to the window, landing on the ledge. He then lets out the loudest whistle Aluvar has even been unfortunate enough to hear. OW! Don't do that! I had to, I needed to make sure he heard me. He? You've brought someone? That was NOT a good idea! I have. I should warn you, he's... With a blur of motion, Boney flies into the room, landing at the foot of the bed. It's... NO! BLUERVO! Wait, listen! He's... I know, but I had no choice! You were forced? Not exactly. Then what? This whole war is a trick! Hmmm... Well, I guess you'd better tell me yourself. SQUAWK! Oh, my head can't handle that this morning. Hold on. Aluvar begins chanting, casting a spell to allow Boney to speak English. Aaaaah, why did you do that? I need to understand you, and I haven't the patience for bird language right now. Just tell me why you're here. That isn't very friendly. Oh, all right, I understand. It's like this ... Boney speaks for 20 minutes straight, Aluvar listens intently. ... and that's it. We both want the same thing, can we work together? I'm shocked, I must admit. You're very lucky I'm not as young and impulsive as I once was or you wouldn't have made it from the window to the bed. I'm sorry about the past, but I wasn't part of it, none of us were. It's no different than blaming the wizard who cursed our lands. We can't blame you for that. Yes, well... Let's say I believe you. What do we do? Boney details the plan. Aluvar nods as he listens. Yes, that does sound reasonable. Fine, that's what we'll do. I assume you need to report back to the Prince? Actually, I'm supposed to meet someone here. At this meeting? Yes. The new Regulator of the Wizards League. The what? I didn't even know one was being selected! How is this possible! No one tells me anything, anymore! Well... I'd better stay out of sight until he arrives. I'm not even sure how to recognise him. Yes, you should stay in here. I'll find him, how many wizards could possibly show up at this thing? Thank you, and ... thank you. Aluvar glances over and sees the letter from earlier. He picks it up and, recognising the seal, opens it quickly. WHAT? SQUAWK! Don't do that. You startled me. Sorry. Why did you yell like that? Well, it seems you've already met the new Regulator... it's me. Everyone is surprised, most of all Aluvar.
