  1. Ok, seriously, the Mutt thing was a spoiler? I thought that was so widely known that no one could have missed it... Plus we all know that the Jones kids picks nicknames based on their childhood dogs, right? "We called the dog Indiana..." What I want to know is if they did that joke, I expected it from the beginning (no, I haven't seen it yet).
  2. This looks very promising! I imagine the clear material is harder to work with, but you got some really decent results there. I'd like to see that concept applied to a standard lego torso, just to see if they've been telling the truth all these years when they said they couldn't make trans-figures. I've always wanted to try casting and molding something, but at this point never have. If it all works out, maybe you could post an illustrated tutorial of some sort? I know I'd be fascinated, and I'm sure a lot of others would as well.
  3. Ok, I'll admit, it's all I could find quickly, and while not the most attractive building, it almost looks like LEGO to me. Well... almost.
  4. I love sets like this, even though they lack the kind of detail I'd like to see (and I'm no fan of 4-wide cars). The beauty was the simplicity and innocence, people just going about their lives. No conflict, no problems, just happy little lives. They reflect the simpler side of LEGO, much like this pre-minifig set: I like to think that the modular building line has brought some of that representation of daily life back, but in a larger and more modernized package, the same way Beach House recaptured some of the old style houses we used to get. As much as I love the modular line, I miss these little sets. It doesn't take 1300 pieces to create something nice, sets like these prove it. Thanks for sharing this, TheBrickster!

  8. ... but what if he wants to know how to make dates? Is that in there?
  9. You would have better results if you actually asked whatever you're wondering, or were at least a little more specific as to what type of FAQ you need. Alternately, the search button works wonders. Good luck!
  10. It's close enough, I merged it in. And it is a good idea. Well post some very good screenshots and we'll see what happens. I don't do heads, but pirates torsos are always a pleasure.
  11. These look very nice! I don't expect we'll ever get a different Marion or even a single version of Sallah, so it's good to have a way to assemble our own. Thanks for creating them. Best I can figure, a red cone. Or a red cone on a 1x1 round plate. I don't think I've ever seen a perfect fez solution, sadly. Maybe we should ask our very own local expect, Mr. Fez, er, Mr. Phes... (I'll go to any lengths for a bad pun ).
  12. Thought I'd add a few more variations, this time a bit of a departure from the originals, but still similar. Pirates/Explorers/Conquistadors Indy/Adventurers I don't know if this is the end of my mapmaking adventure, but it's fun, so I might try some more, maybe completely from scratch. Any ideas? Suggestions?
  13. Let me just start by thanking all of our contestants again. You put forth a great effort and it shows! It isn't always easy to put together and present a coherent and well designed entry, and when it's in a contest like this, where your host is a maniac and has 12,000 rules, it's even more challenging. Sincerely, thank you for making it all worthwhile and bringing such a varied and creative set of ideas to this contest. Further, I need to thank the prize contributors again. Without you, I wouldn't have been able to keep reminding people that they could win such fabulous prizes! Third, a special thank you to Mr. Phes and the entire crew of Classic-Pirates for helping plan and execute this lovely little adventure. And lastly, I'd like to say a special word to all of you who have voted and added your thoughtful opinions on the works presented before you. Thank you! My votes: Impulse: Skullossus. I couldn't resist a hottie and her booty. Small: SlyOwl. It's a great mix of parts and has enough of a retro feel, yet updated at the same time. Playability scores high. Large: TinyPiesRUs. This is the entry I want to build myself, only larger. MUCH larger. It just looks great and well thought out. There were some very close runners-up, too many to name. I'll be stealing ideas from this contest for years! Thanks again to everyone!
  14. I've never used a single one I've made. I have, however, test printed a few to see how they look, so I can sort of explain it. You need either water slide decal paper or sticker paper to use them. Having neither, I did my tests on plain paper. I loaded a few into Paintshop Pro, created a single image with a dozen of them arranged near each other, but far enough apart to be able to cut them, and then made sure it was set to print at 600dpi (dots per inch). That was it. The decals I make are designed to be the right size automatically, as long as they're printed that way. I'll admit, over time, the torso designs have varied a bit, so I can't guarantee that they're all identical. These maps, and the flags I've made, as well as all of my recent torsos are dead on. Oh, and you might notice that at full size, they look a little jagged, it's all part of the way I make them and quite intentional. It allows you to change colours without any hassle. For example, if you wanted to use water slide decal paper, you could load one of these into a paint program and change the outside tan to white to make it transparent. It's also why I work at 600dpi when a lot of customizers produce decals at 300 or less. The extra resolution makes up for the lack of smoothing (and I think it allows for more detail as well). When printed, they look like the thumbnails above, nice and smooth. Ask a simple question, get me blabbing on and on.
  15. Seth Lance! I knew it was something or other. I wonder how she carries that thing around all the time without poking someone's eye out. You might notice that Alyss made a joke at poor Cecil's expense. Aluvar and his birds. He's still sneezing, too...
  16. By that logic, I should win the poll and I'm not even entered!
  17. K-18 Crown Castle Tunnels Aluvar sneezes again. This tunnel seems to go on forever. They dragged me through it! Yes yes, I know, I'm sorry. You should be! Keep your voices down, let's not give them any more warning than we have to. The party continues on, finally arriving at a solid wall. Looks like this is it. It can't just end, there must be another way. No, Wernst, this is it. Shadows reaches out and presses a loose stone, triggering a secret door to open. Oooohhh! You've never seen one of those before? No, have you? Lots of times. You must know some interesting people. You have no idea... Can we go now? Oh, right. Shadows peers carefully into the dark hallway, then slowly proceeds, the rest of the party close behind him. The party continues quietly down the hallway, eventually reaching a lone room, but aside from a large chair and desk, it is empty. This is where they were! This is where they took me the first time, and where I saw Flangdor! I know this is it! It is. I can still feel the cold chill of his presence, as if he is still here. He isn't as weak as he once was. Just then, three cloaked figures step out of the shadows, two are brandishing large daggers. You or me? You're closer. Right. Shadows motions toward the figures, sending the two with daggers flying into the wall with a bone shattering thud. The third is unaffected. Your aim is off. It isn't... That can only mean... Indeed, Aluvar, it is your old friend Flangdor, here to show you just how powerful I've become! With a cackle, Flangdor extends his hand toward the party, hurtling a fireball in their direction. That's new! Shadows rolls to the side, coming back to his feet on the other side of Flangdor. Aluvar steps back and waves the fireball aside, sending it into the nearest wall. No one is hurt. You're still a third rate magician, you've just traded your big hat for a cloak. It isn't much of an improvement. Don't mock me, old man, I'll show you! While Aluvar and Flangdor are exchanging pleasantries, Shadows casts a quick spell freezing Flangdor's feet to the ground. He doesn't seem to notice. You know, he seemed to think you needed heating up. I think you should return the favour Aluvar. What? A fireball? It's so last century. Come on, you know you want to, all the other wizards are doing it! Fine. Though his heart isn't really in to it, Aluvar tosses a fireball at Flangdor, who quickly discovers that he is unable to jump out of the way. His cloak catches fire. AAAAAHHHHHH!!! HELP! I'll tell you everything, just stop this fire! I guess he showed us, huh? Now now, lad, let's not let him burn up, he might be of some small use. As you wish. Shadows casts a quick spell. A fire hose appears in his hands. He proceeds to spend the next 2 minutes soaking Flangdor until he's miserably wet. You can stop! I'm not on fire anymore! And that's freezing cold! I know. Flangdor sneezes. Someone talking about you too? Huh? So, let's go back to the castle and you can tell us all about the whole idiotic plot, from the beginning. What if I won't talk now? Shadows lights his finger with a snap, pointing it at Flangdor. I was just asking!
  18. When I first saw the Agents line, my mind said, "parts." It was right, and that's a good thing. One of those parts is a new Jungle map that would make Indy, Johnny Thunder, or Hernándo Cortés de Monroy Pizarro proud. That said, I still felt like it was lacking enough colour, so I decided to create a decal for it, simply to improve that. In reality, it has too much colour to be authentic as a historical representation, so I made one with fewer as well. Then one with even less. The pics are thumbnails, click them for the full size images. These and all 2x2 designs I produce are meant to be printed to a size of 1.551cm x 1.551cm (which is roughly 835dpi at this resolution). Don't ask me why I work at 835dpi, I never meant to, but they print very nicely that way. The first is the original, the second is just more colourful, the third is meant to symbolize El Dorado or any of the various golden city legends, and the last two are the more historically accurate 'plain' style that would look great when used with your Pirates/Conquistadors. Comments and all that. Thanks!
  19. Great review and a good confirmation of exactly what I suspected... this is a parts line for me. Much like Exoforce before it, this will be the theme I pick up when I'm out of other things, or it's on sale. Plus those dark green alligators bring tears of joy to an old pirate. You were joking? What about the monkeys and the miniature golf course? Don't ruin my dreams ...
  20. L-13 Black Knight territory Outside Imperial Tavern I swear, when I get my hands on whatever caused that explosion! Uh.. he seems awfully fired up. They got between him and ribs. Oh, right. ALYSS? It is you! It's been a long time, Diana. Shame we meet up under such circumstances. Who's your girlfriend? Uh, he's Cecil. I've been traveling with his friend Siloux. Hello! You must know Aluvar, since you know his driver. It's funny, but somehow we all keep running into each other. Right, funny. There is another explosion in the distance. I'd better deal with this. You'd better deal with this? Uh... I hope one of you can deal with this! LOOK! Grandoth points down the street at a shop where 4 Black Wraith Demons can be seen smashing the place into bits. Nearby, a small tower explodes, having been struck by fireballs from another 4 demons. Alyss reaches for her staff and Diana for her weapon as well. You know, I think there might be enough of them for both of us to get a chance here. I'll take the tower! Alyss runs off in a full charge, screaming at the top of her lungs, scaring the hell out of the local residents, and Grandoth for that matter. Same old Alyss... What about us? You stay here Siloux, if she can take on 4 of them, so can I! Diana runs down the street toward the shop, wildly swinging her weapon. Grandoth, Flynt, Siloux and Cecil just look at each other for a moment, wondering what they're supposed to do.
  21. I didn't get an email, but I never get them. I used to get special offers occasionally, and I do get the LEGO Universe updates, despite no real interest, but I never get these good ones... Odd. Still, it's great to see WW and Animals there, I'd take either, though I'm not sure how they mean animals in this case. Still, it sounds interesting.
  22. Vote Now! Warning? Well, the contest was officially slated to end 9 days ago and I stretched it out as far as possible. No new entries have been submitted since the 17th, and occasional warnings were made along the way. I figure it was a fair deadline, sorry you missed it, but there will be other contests in our future, you can count on that.
  23. Large Class - 20 Entries
