  1. In order to more efficiently serve the community, Eurobricks is currently reorganizing the forums to find a better fit for some themes, and the discussions and MOCs you create in them. As a result, a lot of things will be moving around, especially in here. If you have previously had a thread in this forum and it disappears, don't think it's been deleted, it's simply been moved to it's new home which can be found with a quick search, or by pulling up a list of your topics or posts. This is going to be a fairly large job, and we'd like your input in the process, so please feel free to comment in this thread. Thanks! -The Eurobricks Team Things that are currently being moved: Sci-Fi movie/tv themed topics, Steampunk, Post-Apoc (including Zombies), any form of mecha, droid: To Sci-Fi (previously Space and Mecha) Power Miners, Rock Raiders, the Aqua themes, Time Cruisers, Horror and other action related topics: To LEGO Adventure! (coming soon) Things that will be moved shortly: Stay tuned! If you feel that one of your MOCs belongs to a theme that is being moved, but isn't clearly labeled as such, you may post a link to it in this thread and say where you think it should go.
  2. I really do think I'm right. If they had wanted to just use a normal stud as eyes, they probably wouldn't have bothered making them hollow, it would look fine in it's normal form. They do everything they can to avoid new molds, yet here is one in a game? Plus, they tend to make small parts hollow when they produce a new mold and the part isn't likely to be exposed as a surface part, like the the switch to hollow head studs (I've heard it's to prevent choking, but that's nonsense, it's just less plastic wasted, which is good). In the case of the new part, they would have had to waste a lot of plastic to fill that, and by not filling it, it's just one more useful possibility for building. The only thing I don't like is the lack of a LEGO logo on it.
  3. You found some interesting alternatives. Now that the official ones are so easily available, I'm sure you're stocking up, but I'd also suggest visiting the Cannon MOC Index to see pictures of lots of brick built cannons that you could use to add some variety to your armies.
  4. If I'm right, that 1x1 round is actually a doublesided stud. Look at the size of the part pointing out, and it's stud sized, then realise it's attached by a stud on the other side, making it seem doublesided, which would be an amazing step forward for the LEGO world. I just love the heads in that monster game, especially the red one.
  5. It always comes back to wieners in this game ... of life.
  6. I figure these will appear at every Vader building event in the country, and based on them giving one to everyone, even people who didn't participate, I doubt it'll be that popular. If it was a minifig, that would be a completely different story. Still, it would be nice to have one to go along with all the other little things they've been doing for events lately.
  7. That's a great idea! You do that. I'm sure not going up there.
  8. Try this link. If you hit 'Change Region', it will tell you that the site is only available in the UK and Germany. Hopefully, that isn't going to be the extent of where they are sold. They seem to have gone to a fair amount of effort for that page, it looks interesting.
  9. And boo for only getting one.
  10. OH! I didn't have that one before.
  11. Seriously, it's about time someone said that. You'd think you ladies had never played a mafia game before.
  12. I always feel compelled to look in whatever it is you point out is closed, so let's see what's behind Cargo Door #1, Monty!
  13. Happy Birthday everyone! Cake. LEGO. You know the routine. Don't get them mixed up or both a mess and intestinal distress will follow.
  14. I'll keep that in mind, should things turn grim.
  15. I use Bricklink a lot because it seems to be active and there are enough people there who want the information to be right, since it's vitally important to their business. I find that most other sites are more hobby based and a little less reliable. When I need information they don't have, I often look right here at EB, we have a huge base of members who have their own unique knowledge and often share it. After that, it's just whatever Google turns up, whether it be Brickset, Peeron or LUGnet. Harbor Sentry was definitely out in 1989, maybe late in the year and meant for 1990. I know this because I bought the first wave of pirates and promptly went into my dark ages, and that was one of the sets. I still have all of them, fortunately. In the US, shooting cannons disappeared after the early shipments of the 1989 releases, and my Harbor Sentry has one. I didn't know it was even an issue until I came out of my dark ages and saw reference to non-shooting cannons, something I never owned. One of the reasons for confusion is that TLG ships product to different places at different times, retailers sometimes issue things early, older parts occasionally end up in newer sets or later releases of old sets have newer parts. It's impossible to pinpoint when the change from solid to hollow stud heads happened, for example, because it varied by location and theme. As a result, you get parts lists that include alternates depending on when the set was purchased, and even then it depends on the age of the stock itself. Eventually, Classic-Pirates.com plans to offer a comprehensive database of all things LEGO Pirates, which will answer a lot of questions for that theme, but still leaves all the others to be properly dealt with. Personally, I'm building a minifig index that crosses all System themes and Fabuland, just for my own reference. At the same time, I'm working on an index of parts in colours they shouldn't exist in (test shots, park master builder stock, etc). There are lots of things to keep track of.
  16. Now this I like. Sometimes I think you get a little out there and I'm left just wondering while admiring the techniques, but this is the total package for me, a strong build that is pleasing to the eye, colourful but not wildly so, with techniques I can steal for my own use. Let's see more of this kind of thing!
  17. LOVE IT! Pigrin D'an and the Modal Hogs! I'm very excited. I'd devote a whole episode of EB News to them if you guys took the pics. Seriously. We don't get a shot at talent like that very often.
  18. Welcome to Eurobricks! You weren't in a big rush to introduce yourself, huh? Excellent! There are some exciting times coming for Train fans here, you'll want to stick around. I've got a bad feeling about this...
  19. If this has been asked and answered, please excuse me, but was anything written on the tape? I'm not sure I want to go up in the weinermobile. But that looks interesting. I think I'd like to examine that truck, see if anything is in it, see who it's registered to, hotwire it and drive the hell out of here! Subtle, wasn't I?
  20. Aw, bad timing. I'll tell you what I'll do, if you're interested... I'll unlock and move it out of the contest area so you can post the pics and all. I really wanted to see it, personally, it just didn't quite make the cut apparently. Still, that's no reason not to share it as a MOC. Ok? Just reply if so and I'll do it. Edit: I just checked, it isn't locked, you just missed the contest. That's no reason not to post it anyway. Come on, you know you want to.
  21. Day 9 begins ... NOW! Will this be the end of Galactic Paranoia? It's possible.
  22. Galactic Paranoia ~ Day 9 ~ Falling Death Commander Blazer, Admiral Blaire and the team assemble. Pvt. Drake Knator and Pvt. Razak Crade are not included. Commander Blazer: "Let's get right to it, it's messy." Admiral Blaire: "It always is." Commander Blazer: "An unidentified figure knocks on Pvt. Knator's door ..." Commander Blazer: "... then hides down the hall and pulls out a remote device." Pvt. Knator: "Who is it?" Pvt. Knator: "I don't see anyone." Pvt. Knator: "What the?" Pvt. Knator: "Oh, it's just a harmless potato." Pvt. Knator: "More potatoes. Tinklepants! Are you playing a trick on me?" Pvt. Knator: "OW!" Pvt. Knator: "... I'll always love you ... Commander..." Commander Blazer: "Poor sentimental fool." Admiral Blaire: "I think he meant the bear." Commander Blazer: "I knew that." Unidentified figure: "Mashed." Commander Blazer: "We were unable to determine what he said next. But there was a witness..." Commander Blazer: "... he was being watched." *image fades* Commander Blazer: "A quick check showed that Pvt. Knator was loyal. That's one down and one to go for the day." Admiral Blaire: "For number two, we have ..." Pvt. Crade: "Funny, I don't remember this hallway, but it looks familiar." Pvt. Crade: "I know I've seen it somewhere." Commander Blazer: "What he didn't see was the executioner." Admiral Blaire: "Creeping up on him and then..." Commander Blazer: "... a quick shove and it was all over." Admiral Blaire: "It's what you people voted for, and ..." Commander Blazer: "... he was innocent. Nice work. Again." Admiral Blaire: "If our intelligence is correct, there are 4 of you who are loyal, and 4 who are traitors. I'm half tempted to just have you all killed on the spot." Commander Blazer: "Admiral! That's not how we do things ... though it is tempting, I'll admit." One more mistake and this is the last day of Galactic Paranoia. The Team (In Alphabetical Order) The Living Pvt. 23. It's funny because it's true.
  24. Welcome to the Buy / Sell / Trade and Finds Forum Here you will have the opportunity to engage in LEGO transactions with members from around the world, as well as share in discussions related to things you've found in stores or online. All offers and news of this nature should be posted in this forum only. Note: Members are unable to participate in discussions here until they have reached "Vassal" rank by making 10 posts to the site. Prior to that, they are unable to use the PM system either, so it would be pointless to allow them. This is designed to reduce spam from members joining simply to post an advertisement and leave. The minimum rank for topic creation is "Citizen"(100 posts). That allows us the opportunity to get to know you before deciding if we want to be involved in a transaction with you and no exceptions will be made, so please don't ask. A few things to keep in mind: It's for LEGO only. LEGO can be traded, or LEGO can be sold via some form of currency, including payment services. But no trading LEGO for non-LEGO. Occasional selling only; regular sellers should refer to The Bazaar. You trade at your own risk. We simply offer a place to discuss potential trades and are not directly involved in the transaction, so use safe trading practices. If something goes wrong, contact the member or the payment service used, not us. If you are unable to resolve a problem, that may be reported in the Official Eurobricks Straightshooters List with a single post detailing the problem so that others are made aware. Don't create member bitch topics. If you have a problem that you think we might be able to moderate contact the staff and we might be able to help. Otherwise just do as we mentioned above; make a post about it in the Official Eurobricks Straightshooters List Knowing who you're dealing with is the first step in a good transaction. This thread offers some testimonials from people who have engaged in previous trades with EB members. Reviewing the member and their other posts is another way to get to know them before making a decision. This is a small part of the site and isn't intended to be your reason for joining or the only place where you are active. We are not your storefront or billboard, we are just offering an opportunity for people to make private trades one on one. If it becomes obvious that you are only using us to sell, you will be asked to stop. The Bazaar has relaxed rules, but they are relaxed, not removed. Don't flood the forum with threads or unnecessary posts. You may have your own trading topic and should update the first post as needed, but bumping the thread with back to back posts for attention will not be permitted. Don't bump topics. This can't be said enough. Remember, when a topic is bumped up, the rest get bumped down. That's really selfish and we don't tolerate it. Don't create a new topic to avoid breaking the above rule! Don't use unrelated threads to make offers or use the PM system to contact anyone who hasn't given permission. A trading topic is automatically permission to contact that member, as it relates to their post, but abuse of that right will not be permitted. Posting that you have something for sale in someone else's review or in another inappropriate topic is not allowed. Bottom line: Enjoy yourselves, trade safely, share with the community and enhance your LEGO hobby honestly and fairly. -The Eurobricks Team Links to Member Testimonials: Bricklink Trusted Sellers List Official Eurobricks Straightshooters List Old Eurobricks Straightshooters List Other Useful Links: Learn how to use Bricklink.
