  1. I'd take that. The comparison shot, though... what's up with using a decal for the torso and who's is it?
  2. Definitely. The only way they can be aware of a problem is if you let them know, and there's no point in having an inferior part. As for calling, can't you just do it on their website? That's what I've always done. You just enter the set number, pick the part and submit. If you feel you need to include details, there's a space for that.
  3. Personally, I won't look at or index a MOC that doesn't include a posted pic, even if it's just a thumbnail. There's really no excuse for it. That doesn't mean you have to include 87 of them, or that they need to be 2180x1556, those are equally annoying. Bottom line: It's your creation, sell us on it. Give it the best presentation possible for maximum response. That means a reasonably sized pic or thumbnails and some description.
  4. 1979 was a damn fine year for MOCs. I think I'll open the curtains to provide more light and then take a look in the desk.
  5. While I wasn't the one to provide that title, you might find that my spelling is a bit misleading for an American.
  6. I was going to open the locked door as well. I assume by our lack of heading in that direction that Alex doesn't think it's necessary. If that's the case, we'll just move on to the crocodile situation. Let's do this... fix the crocodile, see if we can get it fired up, get enough diesel to the truck to get it running, drive it to the tanker, pull the tanker to the croc, fill 'er up, then get the hell out of here. I know it won't be that simple, but one can dream.
  7. Other themes is in a state of flux currently. With some upcoming changes, the structure and content will change so drastically that it's pointless to index MOCs right now. Reviews are easier to manage and arrange, so they are continuing to be done. Plus, and this is just my honest opinion, people don't look at MOC indexes in a lot of themes. KimT does things differently because Star Wars is an uberforum with lots of traffic and interest. Just stay tuned, you'll see what I mean.
  8. The response to this thread indicates that your views are not the same as the majority of the membership, and the fact that even the people who have threads closed rarely complain indicates that they understand the policies of EB as well. At this point, it seems that everything has been said, but I'll make this last reply to be abundantly clear. A line has to be drawn and it will be. Some threads will fall on one side of that, some on the other. You may not agree with where the line is, or that it's fairly enforced, but it is, to the very best of our abilities. If anything, we are too lenient, which is, perhaps, part of the problem. In being lenient, we may have let some things continue that shouldn't have, which has given you a mistaken opinion of where that line is drawn. This thread could have led to stricter enforcement, just to maintain the so-called consistency you want so badly, but honestly, the membership is happy, we're happy, and what we've been doing is working in the vast majority of cases without the slightest complaint, so I see no change coming. Again, how long do you wait? A pointless thread is a pointless thread. You don't have to agree with my definition of what defines that, but past experience here weighs heavily in the decision, and as you can read back, the members widely agree. Here is a prime example where we tried to let it go, hoping it would lead to something, and clearly it didn't. Should this still be open? The staff hasn't labeled you, and if a member feels that way, it's certainly within their rights, isn't it? You disagree with us, you express that. They disagree with you, they feel you're wrong, they express that. That's the hazard of a thread like this, you have to be able to take it as much as you dish it out. In many forums, this would have simply been deleted. We've discussed it, explained it, provide ample opportunity for you and the community to respond, and if you read what has been said, it's clear where everyone stands. Yes, it is your opinion, and mostly a lone one. In life, sometimes we have an opinion that differs from the rest, it's just the way it is. When you're dealing with something this subjective, you can't expect a perfect answer because one doesn't exist. Ultimately, it's our responsibility to do what we think is right, and that tends to be influenced by what most of the membership thinks. Representing what the community wants is the best way to serve it. We can't cater specifically to everyone, anyone looking for that should start their own forum, make their own rules, and enjoy the freedom that provides, along with the resulting responsibility. Bottom line, we're going to disagree sometimes and you may not think we're doing a good job. You have your opinion and have been given plenty of opportunity to express it. Feel free to PM me any time if you wish to discuss it further, but at this point, we're just going in circles here.
  9. Oh, I see how it goes... there aren't any other games going on right now or anything. *cough*Good thing Staudie's back*cough*
  10. A vote for TheBrickster is a vote for the true spirit of Classic Town. I can't figure it out, but here comes one now ... *hands TheBrickster another cleaver*
  11. Did you read that thread? He was a 10th grader pining for his 9th grade sweetheart. Further, people who are mature don't usually ask those things on a LEGO forum for the whole world to reply to. There are better places for that. I'll repeat, it wasn't silly, it was pointless, and yes, someone has to make that determination. It's a tough call, a fine line, but it's one that has to be made or we'll turn into a wasteland of off-topic nonsense. Community is about meeting each other, and that means more than "hey look at my shirt/phone/hair", it's about more than the superficial, though we do have a place for people to share that kind of thing, within reason. As I said, it's a fine line, but just using your examples, I can show how my thought process works. A sports topic is fine, until it turns into a war. If that happens, it's over. Basically, it's not a list thread (if it turns into one, that's a problem). It isn't going to attract a lot of 3 word single line posts, hopefully people will actually discuss, not list. Saying that you like something is fine. Saying why you like something is adding value. The same with Transformers or Discworld or anything that will inspire discussion, not just "kewl!" or "mine's a c1432lt12 with the lcd screen". Any topic could turn into something with depth, does that mean they should all be allowed? For how long? What is the appropriate developing time for depth? Cellphones turn to iPods and off it goes. You can be offended all you want, but for the most part, people who post pictures of a simple tool that is supposed to be used for a daily, boring purpose, are trying to brag. "Look at me" threads, when unrelated to LEGO, are high on my list of nuisances. Seriously, if someone is young and thinks it's a big deal to have something, they want to flash it. I say flash it somewhere else. If someone older is still doing that, I think it's time to grow up a little. No, you just seem to lack the ability to seperate discussion from simple listing of things. Scroll back and you'll see where I've explained the purpose of Community, and it should be clearer to you. It's not that difficult most of the time. The vast majority of members 'get it', they see what works well and what doesn't, and they tend to have the same view. The number of complaints we get over closures like this is very low. The number we get over spammy topics like that is much higher. MUCH. This isn't an underage dating site, nor is it the place to get that kind of advice. The vast majority of such posts are made by underage members, just as that one was. We could get rid of them by simply cracking down on the age limit, but we try to understanding and include people instead while asking for maturity. Those topics are rarely any more mature than the bragging threads.
  12. From the guidelines: Eurobricks is a LEGO fan site, thus we want most topics here to be LEGO related. If you find you are posting mostly non-LEGO topics then maybe you have picked the wrong site. How many "this is my <whatever>" or "I have this many <whatevers>" or "I like <whatever>" threads is too many? Is that really what people are coming here for? That's the kind of discussion that primarily school-age children have, sitting around with a few friends. The conversation lasts 10 minutes before getting old. It lacks depth, it's a list thread and nothing more. Why do we want 100 of those threads here? The conversation had no lasting value at all. Threads like the one you cite are often used to simply boost post count without adding any value to the community. As I say, who cares what phone you have? Does it really reflect on you as an individual? Do we learn something about you from it, or does it just say, "hey, they were running a special" or "wow, look at me, I blew some cash on a phone"? Conversely, the music thread could be considered a bit spammy, but it does offer a deeper insight into the member and what they like, so it has been around for a long time. Do you understand the difference there? You aren't forced to because you're not on staff. We need to look at everything to determine if it fits within the guidelines for the site. Few of us are interested in Bionicle, for example, but if we don't look in the threads, we don't know when people have lost their minds and gone on a spamfest. As for silly, we love silly. We encourage silly, but in that case, silly was just a polite way to say pointless. Absolutely. Just as we will take appropriate action when we see a problem. As long as this doesn't turn into an attack thread, I don't see any reason to close it, we're an open community and sometimes people are going to disagree with us, and there's no reason they can't express that.
  13. The old reversed print. I have a couple of bluecoats like that.
  14. PM me. Seriously everyone, if you have something, PM me. It's ok to announce it here, but here isn't where the deals take place, here is just where I keep the offer, the deals happen in PM.
  15. Great Yavin Luke and a smart choice. It isn't a figure that anyone is likely to want desperately, so put it in with with book and it should do well. Personally, I would have bought it by itself, anyway. Let's just hope we get a Captain Antilles. It would be so easy... one of the stock fleshie heads, the same helmet as the trooper, just a new torso. Oh please Mr. LEGO, please. That's what we said about you, Mandy Lori Ann.
  16. It's not an incredibly dark design, similar to the AT-ST driver as I recall, but it shouldn't be overly pale. Crooked is always wrong. Looks like you got two losers.
  17. 48 hours is the "oh crap, someone is going to die for not doing their night action" limit. People get them in quickly, the game moves quickly. I consider that a good thing.
  18. I'd like to take a moment to thank all of you for getting your night actions in quickly. Quickly, hell, IMMEDIATELY. Nice job! In one of the fastest turnarounds I've ever seen ... Day 8 Begins ... NOW!
  19. Galactic Paranoia ~ Day 8 ~ I Hear the Secrets That You Keep When You're Walking in Your Sleep Commander Blazer, Admiral Blaire and the team assemble early. Pvt.Wedge Durnkist, Pvt. Terris "Toupée" Bentman and Pvt. Drake Knator aren't among them. No one is really surprised that Pvt. Knator isn't there, not nearly as much as they are when he strolls through the door. Pvt. Knator: "Morning all!" Admiral Blaire: "Take your seat, Knator." Pvt. Knator: "Sorry sir, I didn't mean to be late, I just had a really weird night." Admiral Blaire: "I know." Pvt. Knator: "You do?" Commander Blazer: "Seems it was another eventful night for several of you." Admiral Blaire: "Indeed it was." Commander Blazer: "Let's get right to the footage." Pvt. Knator: "Come on Commander Tinklepants, we've got work to do!" Commander Blazer: "It seems he was unaware of an assassin lurking in the shadows with a stylish unprinted black Stormtrooper helmet." Pvt. Knator: "I'm sorry, Commander Tinklepants, I can't see a thing in this helmet. What? No, I didn't hear anything either." Admiral Blaire: "It seems he was also unaware of the team's appointed executioner sneaking up behind him." Pvt. Knator: "No, I still don't hear anything. You're getting paranoid!" Commander Blazer: "Fortunately for him, he's a clutz and drops Commander Tinklepants." Pvt. Knator: "What are you doing? Why did you jump out of my arms?" Admiral Blaire: "As he bends over to pick up ... you know who ... the laser bolts fly over his shoulder, narrowly missing his empty helmet." Unidentified Figure 1: "WOO" Unidentified Figure 2: "WEE" Pvt. Knator: "Ok, I did hear something that time..." Commander Blazer: "As you can see, the assassin and executioner managed to shoot each other. Who says you stormtroopers can't hit anything." Admiral Blaire: "Not funny." Commander Blazer: "It was too. A little, at least. Come on, admit it." Admiral Blaire: "Fine." Pvt. Knator: "Let me kiss the boo boo! I'll make it up to you later with some extra snuggle time!" *thud* *thud* Pvt. Knator: "I still can't see anything in this helmet, but I definitely heard something Commander Tinklepants, I think we'd better go back to our quarters, it could be dangerous out here." Pvt. Knator: "What? Sure, I'll tell you a bedtime story. Once upon a time there was an evil evil man who wanted to take over a kingdom, so he..." *camera fades* Pvt. Knator: "Sirs?" Commander Blazer: "What is it Knator?" Pvt. Knator: "May I be excused? I think I need to change my shorts." Admiral Blaire: "Go." Commander Blazer: "There you have it, folks. It seem that for some unimaginable reason, the Black Sun assassin decided to kill the same person you condemned. As you may recall, that happened once before. I guess it was inevitable that the killers would run into each other eventually, we just didn't expect it to end up like this. Oh well, flip of a coin, you know how it goes." Admiral Blaire: "I thought it was a d20." Commander Blazer: "Don't be a nerd." Admiral Blaire: "Oh, shut up." Commander Blazer: "We investigated the killers and it turns out that Pvt. Bentman was the one working as a Black Sun killer." Admiral Blaire: "And Pvt. Durnkist, the randomly chosen executioner, was loyal." Commander Blazer: "Yes, that's right, every step forward is followed by a step back." Admiral Blaire: "And now you're left to decide where to step next." Commander Blazer: "Might as well get right to it, there's still a menace lurking out there in the form of Black Sun, and even without their assassin, I'm sure they are still a threat to the peace of the galaxy." 20. You know, if there is one thing I hope this community is able to do, it's help people come out of the LEGO closet and share their passion with the world. Loud and proud! There's no keeping us down!
  21. What were they called again? Sits in the Sand?
  22. Day 7 has ended. Day 8 will begin with a bang in 48 hours. You may choose to use or not use your night actions, but you'd better let me know before the time is up. Good game so far, but let's try to get the chatter up a little or I'll have to find a way to make you.
  23. And so ends another broadcast day. I'm your host, Creepy Guy, wishing you and yours all the best. We will resume normal programming in 48 hours, at which time you will learn the results of your efforts. Oh, you'll learn, one way or another, if I have to pound it into your silly heads. Get your night actions in, time is wasting!
  24. Wait until you see what we have planned for you. Now, in the words of Red Leader, "Cut the chatter!"
