  1. "Have we been here before or are we yet to come?" I welcome all Whovians for the fourth time - to meet the Fourth Doctor! This one took really long time to make. In part due to Tom Baker's long tenure, and in part due to his equally long scarf. And also his hat and his curls too. One of the goals was to make this figurine more interesting and more... sophisticated, than the ones i've already seen in the net. So I made scarf to stick out only half a brick from the body and covered it from the sides to make it look as thin as possible, but not making it less stripey at the same time. The hat was another not-as-simple-as-it-looks thing to construct. I copied the technique for the upper part, but greatly updated it to capture more angles and curves. By the way you may use it in your Indy Jones or Noir Detective BrickHeadz if you see fit. I am all for sharing good ideas. Surely, I couldn't leave the Doctor without his nice hair. So I made hatless version too. And I wouldn't be me if I just stuck a lot of round 1x1s and called it a day. No, I made really complicated structure, so the curles could flow more naturally. Also I didn't want to make hair and hat the same colour, so my quest for the best curles was further hardened by the limits of available dark brown pieces. I think, after this one's and Third's hair completion I may consider myself an expert of sorts in brickheading the curly hairstyles. But of course it would be too easy to make to different versions, so I just had to make my life a little bit harder. Yes, I made hair and hat modules easiely interchangeable. Which required me to use a lot of half-round snot bricks and a lot of creative solutions to make it all stay together while being disconnectable. I think I succeeded in that too. And I think it looks great in the line with Its predecessors - "grumpy, dandy and a clown". And if you agree, you may be interested in instructions for this Doctor here: https://reb.li/m/233902
  2. Hi, everyone! This is my take on the newest orbital-class rocket by Blue Origin - New Glenn. It is made, as all my rockets, in 1:220 scale, so its 7m diameter neatly translates into four studs. Seven engines on the first stage And two - on the second Deployable landing legs - black levers when not in use could be stored inside the fairing. Vulcan has the same engines And Falcon Heavy has the same payload to orbit. That's it for today. Instructions are here: https://reb.li/m/208157 Fly safe!
  3. It was the main goal in creating this model. Also, I always keep it in mind and build-check my virtual models. P.S. Diagonal tiles on the front part are sticking out due to incorrect placement of headlight bricks inside. Correct one has already been added to the instructions.
  4. Hi, everyone. This model was a fun little build made to celebrate the launch of Artemis 1 all those years back. Now, after release of lego's own SLS, I've upgraded it. Now, this is quite a precise copy of its larger counterpart. It has rocket, mobile platform and tower. Rocket connects to the tower via all needed umbilical masts, crew access bridge and stabilisers. They all can be swung aside for the launch. The platform has core stage connection point and water deluge system. There is even a tiny Crawler Transporter underneath. Rocket is mostly unchanged, yet still accurate. Instructions are here and for free. So help yourself and build your own SLS faster than NASA ever could. https://reb.li/m/203842
  5. Hi, everyone. This is just a Speed Champions style model of Mitsubishi Lancer X 2009. For some reason, everyone makes Evo version of this car. I, instead, opted for a standard version which you encounter on everyday roads. In fact, this is a model of one particular car, which I know really well. Hence, the choice of colour and rims. Also, because of colour, I sourced a lot of parts from Mustang Dark Horse set. Which you too may use, if you want to build Lancer for yourself. Interesting note. The hardest part to do was not the front but the rear. As I wanted for rear lights to be triangle on the sides. Here is an instruction, if needed: https://reb.li/m/203105
  6. After making more precise measurements, I've greatly upgraded the Falcons. Here are the final version. Now they are one of the if the most accurate 1:220 lego copies of Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy. Instructions are also updated: https://reb.li/m/199791
  7. It is time to move into the coloured era, my dear Whovians. Welcome the Third Doctor. Yes, here he is, in all his fancy glory. Just as portrayed by Jon Pertwee. Replicating his curly hair was not an easy task, that's for sure. Choosing between his various outfits was not a simple thing to do, either. In the end, i chose the most "dandy" one - Black and violet cape and dark red velvet suit. Also, for the first time, Doctor has got his sonic screwdriver. And now it's time to regenerate! And don't forget to make Three Doctors appear together. After all, they are ones of him. And here are the instructions to make this Doctor for yourself. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-196007/CogInTheMachine/brickheadz-third-doctor-who-jon-pertwee/#details
  8. Good sol, everyone! I decided to build my own collection of rockets in one scale. As in real world, rockets could vary from 1 to 100 meters, the most optimal scale to choose was 1:220. Also, official ISS set is made in the same scale, so visiting vehicles would be able to dock to it the same as to their rocket carriers. And the first one, the very obvious too, Falcon 9 is here: Of course, the smaller the rocket, the harder it is to recreate all its features. Yet i managed to make as close to the real thing as possible. The rocket can be divided by stages. Merlin engine of the upper stage hides inside hollow half-cylinder parts of the first stage. Landing legs and grid fins can be deployed to replay the landing phase of the launch. The first stage is built in such a way, that it can be stacked as close together as possible to get the proper look of Falcon Heavy Which side boosters can "land" too In flight, they are securely attached via straight pneumatic connectors The standard Falcon 9 also comes with a Crew Dragon (or cargo, if you wish). Which can be configured in lauching, docking or landing version Finally, there are some easter eggs inside the fairings - a stack of Starlinks and something red... If you want to build it yourself - here are the instructions: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-199791/CogInTheMachine/1220-falcon-9-and-falcon-heavy/#details I will post next rockets soon. You may find them in my profile or by rocketgarden hashtag.
  9. Your Crew Access Bridge is upside down. Everything else is great.
  10. I'm afraid that both blue and red ones are stickers. At least I found matches for everything on the sticker list. By the way long black stripes (1) which should go around the booster is possibly one of worst to apply stickers I've ever seen. Also long vertical black stripes (checkered two by two pattern) as it seems are under the number 3 on the list. So it means that we'll have to apply each black stripe separately. If it is so, that is just nuts. And aren't stickers with dots on the cone tops of the boosters against lego's own rules? As I remember, they don't make stickers which have to be bent in two axes to be applied - like on the cones. At least theese stickers have to be trapezoids not rectangles to be correctly applied on the cone, are they not? And one more thing - what is the piece used for ICPS' engine nozzle? Standart 2x2 cones have gaps on the bottom ring. Or have they just edited them away?
  11. Hi, everyone! I hope, your Christmas was really merry. I've got a little present for you. Model of one of the best antagonist in videogame history. Genetic Life and Disc Operating System - GLaDOS And also one little nasty moron - known as Wheatley Originally I've this model out of real bricks lo-o-ong ago and it was hanging above mu desk ever since. This year I finally decided to digitalize it and, in process, make some improvements. Most important of which are - upgraded wire-like things on the sides, improved stability, ball-joint at the neck for better poses. And, which I am really proud of, I managed to add an offset for her yellow eye - so one white side is a bit wider, than another. Thanks to the ball-joint - GLaDOS and Wheatley's head are easily interchangeable - if you prefer this worst of all idiots to be at the head of your facility) If you want to build this model yourself - I've made instructions: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-168045/CogInTheMachine/glados-and-wheatley-from-portal-2/#details
  12. Added some new photos for better look of insides and outsides.
  13. Good day/night/whatever everyone! I want to share with you a little experiment of mine that got a bit out of control. I hope, you remember set 8284 and its really unique looking b-model. At least I do. Furthermore, it is one of my favourite b-models and I really wanted to pay tribute to it. Obviuos thought was, of course, to make it RC with the new Control+ elements. After half an hour I got something that could drive and steer. I even tested it in the local park, but... something was off. It just wasn't enough. However good looking this buggy is, its transmission wasn't created with electromotors and speedy driving in mind. Wheels tended to fall off. Gears in diff broke at least once. And offroading capabilities were...em... on the small side of expectations. And I got an idea! I decided not just to motorize this buggy, but completely redesign, reimagine it from technical point of view, keeping exterior close enough to what it was before. You know, like these like-oldtimer-outside-but-modern-inside tribute cars which car companies sometimes make. Also I wanted to make transformation function more interesting and useful. So, I started on the blueprints... And here it is! All modern all new Dune Buggy! With familiar face which got a facelift. Literally. New version of transformation not just shortens the car, but lifts all front section up While cockpit raises up, special levers make sure that headlights between wheels always stay horizontal. And not only that. Another special lever in the rear section locks the differential using new orange shifter. This way buggy becomes most offroad. And now - to the video! (With the new intro btw)
  14. Hello Lego-Whovians! I've started watching the classic Who episodes and decided to design new Brickheadz figure for each new Doctor I encounter. So, here are the William Hartnell's First and Patrick Troughton's Second Doctors in this cute cubical form. The final design was achieved through a dozen of prototypes with a help of a really useful Stud.io program Here are the early prototypes of the figures. You may easily spot the changes I've made later. The First Doctor Made in B&W (and shade of grey) as TV shows back then were not so colorful as nowadays. He has his walking stick, scarf and hat for the Tenth Planet. Numerous slopes are used to show his flowing white hair. One of the hardest part was making his checkered pants. Figure also has rounded cheeks to make his face less standart. The Second Doctor Also in Black&White. Has hes flute-recorder, bowtie and a handkerchief in a pocket. You may notice that I had to use the old dark grey to make his striped pants. Quarter-round tiles are used to make his angry browa for a more recognizable face. As the models were made in Stud.io, I've made instructions for them too, links are here if you need them: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-137690/CogInTheMachine/brickheadz-first-doctor-william-hartnell/#details https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-142487/CogInTheMachine/brickheadz-second-doctor-patrick-troughton/#details
