  1. This is what I've done with my heavy gunners. In use the white bar holder comes off and gets used end on to support the weight of the gun (it is "heavy" after all). I need to get some white clips to replace the grey. I'm actually loving the heavy gunner now, they look so badass holding the big gun!
  2. I was ready to spew forth with superlatives about the size and the detail outside and how amazing it looks, then I scrolled down to the interior and it just kept going layer after layer of seemlessly integrated genius, THEN, there's a hangar bay! Absolutely amazing!
  3. Smyths is pretty good for Discounts, they had the 75105 Millenium Falcon for £20 less than usual 3 days before Christmas! Had the same discount a couple of weeks ago too. Thinking more, an ongoing discount offers thread would be good where you can post up money off specials you spot in stores and online.
  4. Superb! I love it! so much action in each little scene, all combined in one big display that in itself is so clevely executed. Well done sir!
  5. Looks like a "wait for discount" set to me. I hope sales are poor so that happens sooner rather than later. This should never have been a UCS set.
  6. Good SNOT, only one on show!
  7. Perhaps there will be another, less dissapointing UCS set, "imperial assault on hoth" set. I'll probably get this, as apart from the recent 75138 Hoth attack, I have no Hoth based lego, so to get a wampa + cave, tauntaun, snowspeeder, hangar, other stuff, and some minifigures, it's probably juuuust about worth it, over piecing that together from old sets.
  8. This is a pretty good pic showing multiple angles, it seems the inward slope of the upper and lower solar panel sections is close to 45 degrees, but the angle of the front and back sections is msteeper, but probably looks like 45 degrees when viewed at certain side on angles because they slope away from you and look more shallow:
  9. those pieces don't come in black, so you either have to live with the grey, cover them so they're invisible but the hatch doesn't open, or MOD that whole area and come up with a solution. Mine are still grey and it's on a high enough shelf that I don't see them! I might revisit it later.
  10. Wowzers that's impressive! That's right up there with Marshall Bannanas Falcon as one of the absolute best star wars MOC's ever! Outstanding!
  11. Why has this ship been redesigned to be worse? what have we had, 3 versions of it now?
  12. I just bought the ship on it's own for cheap on ebay, new and unbuilt in box and in resealed bags minus the figures for £18. I love the ship, and looking at the pics of the upcoming Vaders advanced tie, it looks to share a great deal of the centre sphere structure, and the front screen and top hatch are the same parts. I did get a cheap tie pilot to sit in it, but I'm not fussed about the other two. I'm more of a ship junky than a minifig collector, so i like finding the minifig collector cast offs on ebay!
  13. especially when if you want it cheaper you just have to wait 3 weeks and save two thirds! People are dumb.....
  14. Looking at both the Y-wing I have and the many snowspeeders out there, I've long thought a new canopy could be made to cover both those vehicles, with possibly different printing to account for the detail differences. The overall shape of the two is very similar.
  15. What a great looking ship, and such a slick build! Nicely integrated escape pod, and ramp, loads of room inside, and smooth on the outside. Love it!
  16. Looks like you need a longer shelf! Great work on the bridge though, it's gonna need a heck of a shelf!
  17. Nice work hiding the hinges, I did mine with the removable pin method as i didn't want the hinges visible, but I may have to look at it again having seen yours.
  18. I too have found this to be the case, you can get the positioning spot on with a careful aplication of brute force!
  19. The stickers on my UCS 75095 tie were peeling of the damned backing sheet, I put them on the built model as I figured they'ed be better protected stuck to plastic than the backing sheet that they're designed to peel off. they still lift around the edges, but so long as I push them back on regularly they seem to stay put. The big data sheet sticker is a pain to put on, and you know how hard it'd be to get another if you messed it up!
  20. These are great mash up, but technically, the Y-Tie has no engines!
  21. The playset style UCS sets are still probably a good investment to shelve and resell in a few years.
  22. Just picked up the final duel 75093 new and sealed for £20 less than retail. At last I have a Vader!
  23. I wonder if the change to Disney ownership of the Star Wars franchise might be at play there? Disney never seem shy about charging what they can get away with for things.
