Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Flandy replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
At the end of the day, you can always put it back to how it should be, so i see no reason to not mod a set. All sets are a compromise, with cost, complexity, playability and accuracy as factors. How each of those are prioritised by TLG is always going to differ from what AFOLs want, as the sets are designed for kids. As I'm not a kid (contrary to what my my other half says!) I want accuracy most of all, so I'm happy to make changes that move the set in that direction, so long as the finished result doesn't negatively affect the sturdiness of the model. I try my best to ensure the finished result is constructed in a way that TLG would have done if their priorities matched my own. I will admit I haven't posted any of my mods here yet, because all of them are WIP and I make changes until I'm happy. -

Is it hard to get in the States?

So who's going to be the first to build both a Light grey and orange X-wing, and a blue and black one? Further more, will a blue and black one work like "that" dress and appear white and gold to some observers?
-
I look on the "new " Poes X-wing as kind of a rental, it's a generic, nothing special X-wing from the Resistance X-wing "motor pool" that he borrowed to go find Lor San Tekka, Where as his "Old" X-wing is his personal X-wing with some choice modifications.

Banning pics or talk about these leaked sets is closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. It's 2016, and once it's out on the internet, you can never get it back, be it leaked intelligence documents, Nude celeb pics, or lego information. Stopping us talking about it here acheives exactly nothing. All any of us have to do is google Rogue 0ne lego leak and it's all there to see. We'll just have a situation where everyone on the forum has seen the pics and set information and can't talk to anyone else (who have also seen it) about it. Crazy....

The UCS Hype. What will 2017 bring? (40th Anniversary)
Flandy replied to Major_Ton's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hoping TLG paid of Marshall Banana for his design and we get that as a 40th anniversary UCS Falcon to die for. -
All-Terrain All-Conquering transport MUHAHAHAHA, although I guess that would be AT-ACTM........

[MOD] Wing and landing gear for Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle
Flandy replied to Master Chief's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I started off with a cheap used set off of ebay. I think it was 2/3 the new price. I've kept all the interior and unseen parts of the ship in their original colours, if only to make the interior a bit lighter than it would be in all black, but even then, the amount of original set left in the finished shuttle isn't great. I'd say to swap all the visible parts only, you need to bricklink at least 4/5 of the set, so it makes sense to do the whole thing. There's no stickers to worry about, so aside from figures there's nothing to worry about. -

I'd say that was luck. You always get a few spares, and if two guns aren't listed in the parts inventory at the back of the manual, I guess it's an extra. -
The x-wing, Tie, and falcone are minor tweaks oon old designes in the movies, so you can't be too annoyed at lego for doing the same with their versions. The biggest let downs for me were the flying bathtub snowspeeder, the "Wall with door" (Takodana), and the massive balls up with colour and wing orientation on Kylos shuttle. I'm not thrilled by the FO transporter, it needed to be longer, but that can be remedied easy enough. The Resistance transporter, I really love. I enjoyed building it, and the end result is so different from other ships, it really stands out.

They're pretty good and quick on replacing faulty parts, they sent out another canopy for my Poes x-wing when it wouldn't close properly. -
I think it IS fair to compare it to TLG one, they stuck the UCS tag on that box, and this is the kind of thing that tag demands of its products, not some half finished missle shooting mess. This looks great and I have supported it on the ideas site, if only to raise TLG's awareness that there is demand. If we don't support the Star wars projects we like on there, then we lower TLG's awareness of the demand for such projects.

The more quality MOCs that are entered into the Lego ideas scheme, the more they might get the message that there is a market for more accurate models, and that fobbing us off with inferior UCS sets is less profitable than creating ones that that are movie accurate AND have some play functions.

A few less studs on show would be nice!

The snowspeeder we have now is pretty much minifig scale. The snowspeeder isn't a very big aircraft:

Don't underestimate those pockets!

"Bob and Tim's suicide mission on Hoth" I think that makes me want this set. It's the Empire equivalent of Dak:

Wow that's really cool!

Y-wings seem pretty good value on the used or unopened market. It's a solid playable ship, whichever variant you go for, looks really good, and it's a decent size. You get a pilot and a droid with it which is a nice rebel combo.
