  1. He did say that his expansions are not based solely on parts from the set. In other words, you would need to order parts to complete his expansions. I'm trying to adhere to the confinement of the sets. I got one at the store today and was able to purchase one online last night. I'm going to build a 2x version of the set and see where that takes me. So far Peter's expansion ideas would require 4 sets to build something similar in scale. He isn't even finished with the lower section. Based on the set they were building at the store I am guessing 4x would be a good size. I think 4 sets would be able to give you 2 gate houses, a great hall, living quarters, a courtyard, armory, dungeon, treasury room, store rooms, kitchen, solar room, knight barracks, housemaid barracks, a few extra towers, a magician tower, and maybe multiple level spaces with more caves and moat area. The castle could have an exterior wall with stuff Peter is doing like an inn, stables, etc.
  2. I picked up the set today and no GWP available. Our store said they were gone August 1 when the huge rush came in. I have 2 from the last time it was available. I had hope for getting a third one because I wanted to army build the new forest guardians. I plan on getting 1 to 3 more sets because Peter Keith's work is amazing on instagram. I have been building the set in studio. Half is almost done. I used the online pdf instructions to build it. The goal is to have it done in studio and save the file as is and then open the file as an import and begin expanding it. Expansion ideas: 1. Widen every tower wall. The 5 stud wide towers will be double the size. 10 studs will fit the angle they made with the fountain inside and I already built that section in studio with 2 fountains. Widen the other 5 stud tower and wall adjacent to it in the front. 2. Widen the towers on the gatehouse to 9 or 10 studs. 3. Double the width of the interior. The rooms are basically built with 16x6 on each half of the dollhouse. I want to make it about 32 wide by 12 on each section. 4. Rearrange the kitchen and above fireplaces to fit in line with each other. I think the best way to do this is center the fireplaces for all the floors and not have them on the side. 5. With the new widths there will be plenty of room for store rooms and a treasurey on this side. I also will enclose the stairs from the kitchen to the great dining hall. Then make a separate staircase from the living quarters to the treasury. 6. Create an outside gate or doorway to the main gatehouse courtyard to the back half. More defense. 7. The great hall will be 16x24 when enclosed. 2 stories high. The living quarters will be shoved to the side and preside next to it one level higher. The living quarters will be 2 levels high to make the castle a bit taller. 8. The gatehouse will need an overall on interior placement. I think it needs knight quarters and separate rooms from the dungeons. I would build the armory in the basement and a second one on the barracks floor above the entrance. When it's double the size it will give me room to add a central tower like Peter did. This may house the wizard at the top. 9. Expand around the castle like Peter did. I think having a second gate leading to a lower section will give the castle life. This will give them plenty of room for stables, soldiers barracks, blacksmith, and other items in a Bailey.
  3. What color legs are you doing?
  4. Peter Keith already began expanding the castle set on his instagram page. Peter Keith's Castle Expansion I got to say this ideas already marvelous.
  5. With the different connection points it may be easy to build expansion mocs. I am thinking of buying 2 sets and widen all the walls. The reviews and build photos appears to show it may be easier to expand the set while building a larger version of the Castle. The fact it splits into 2 sections would enable future add-ons and offer more opportunities. The connection points would allow you to build a larger interior with stables and a courtyard. I'm looking forward to all the alternative models people design in the future.
  6. Anybody else thinking of combining 2 sets into a larger scale model? I have seven 3in1 castle sets I been toying with in studio trying to merge several great mocs from rebrickable.com, but now that I watched that interview showcasing the set as two detachable sections it made me abandon my current idea. The castle appears to be 2 modules. Use a second set to build another set of towers that connect with the other castle.
  7. Question on dusting. I forgot to cover the ship the last few months and it has collected a lot of dust in the basement. I am seeking advice on what to use. I plan on buying a custom display case from wicked brick, but do need help since a duster will not get between the cracks and smaller areas. Update on Sails: OKBrickWorks are printing the last of my custom sails and mailing them out later this week. I got the last of my lego orders in and finishing up the ship. I hope the spring weather will play nice when the sails arrive so I can take photos of the finished ship and crew. Island Hideout or pier harbor? With all the extra lego part orders I should have enough to make a wonderful island hideout for the crew. Cargo: The shipment has grown quite a bit since I began the journey. I purchased more barrels, food, bags, and boxes in various colors than the ship will hold. Looks like the island will have plenty of loot and supplies. I think I'll do a variety of ship photos with and without the crew. I think I'll take better interior photos with and without all the supplies loaded on the ship so you can see how much cargo it holds. I placed 2 sail orders. The first order came and I needed to adjust some of the files and currently waiting for the new sails to arrive. The taller sails for the main mast are about 1.5 inches taller than the sails in the set. The rear mizzen mast sail is about 10.5 inches long. It's huge when you compare it to the front triangle jib sail the set comes with. The other sails I do have are the front jib sails. These all are a bit tricky trying to attach to the ship. The thicker material helps keep their shapes. Basically I have the sails that match the 2 large sails that came with the set. I also ha e both front jib sails and the mizzen sail. I am waiting on the corrected main mast sails and spirit sail.
  8. The red plums are back in stock on Bricks and Pieces or the new Pick a Brick hub. That would be the first time in many years both parts are available at the same time in this configuration.
  9. The new Botanical Collection set 10309 contains 4 green forestmen hats being used as leaves. This reassures me that forestmen may be returning in this year's set or CMF. For anybody who purchased the Castle in the Forest or ordered parts to build it like I did when I missed out on the initial order, you can replace those pesky gray ones.
  10. Our store didn't get any of these parts and I debated on ordering them from bricklink, but this may mean that LEGO decided to reprint them or have more than enough to include them in the online ordering. I hope they ha e them when the site opens up in the USA. I would find it interesting if they decide to use the torso and shield in their new set since they are only BAM options right now.
  11. The UK website allows you to build a minifigure and it includes new castle parts for the Lion knights. I cannot order them from the USA, but had to check it out when people on Instagram posted this news in the last hour.
  12. I checked UK website and it now allows you to build a minifiruew with new castle parts. I don't know if I can purchase it from the USA.
  13. I doubt we will see that. I think they may focus on new printed expressions or give us reused minifig heads. I am expecting them to focus on new torso and leg printing. The one benefit they have is its a classic license and they do not need to worry about paying another company for such likeness. This may benefit us because that means they may focus on offering a few extra animal molds than if it were developed for a licensed series. My wishlist for the bow set 1. New forestmen 2. King 3. Queen 4. Goats 5. New horses 6. Sattles for horses. 7. New dragon mold. I will accept anything they offer us. I think the idea of multiple factions like Wolfpack, forestmen, etc would be a great way to show the love and appreciation castle impacted the 80s and 90s.
  14. I agree with so many on here that a set of this price would include roughly 15 to 20 minifigures. This could be a UCS set for fans like the Daily Bugle and offer 10 Lion knights and soldiers, a king, queen, peasants, forestmen, Wolfpack rangers, and a few other surprises. I purchased 7 Medieval Castle sets to use for parts in a custom castle moc I'm developing. I love the mods people built for this 3-in1 creator set using 2 or 3 sets. I want to build an UCS size set using their mocs as inspiration. With the idea we may be getting a large castle this year I'm am eager to see how detailed it will be. The creator set had a lot of playful features, but had too many exposed walls and I would love to have a castle with enclosed interiors like the higher end modular sets. I wish the Castle in the Forest was made into a LEGO ideas set, but excited I was able to purchase the pieces from LEGO when they released their piece list. I missed out on being one of the 10,000 customers, but I got my parts a few weeks ago and built that set from their free instructions online before many p3ople got the set in the USA. I would love this anniversary set to include a few of these in modern two sided printed outfit designs. I found these online a while back and hope we see something like these on future minifig designs. Anyways. I will love seeing what they design for an anniversary set and purchase it no matter what.
  15. It sure would be nice to revisit the DeLorean with a new windscreen element that is similar to the ones seen in speed champions, but 1 stud lower and not curved on the side profile at the base. The 4 stud tall windscreen element is too tall for some vehicles and would be better off creating a new windscreen to reflect older models that did not ha e curved walls. Most cars until the late 90s had a lot of hard edges so it could be widely used for older vintage models.
  16. Yes. That is the new part.
  17. The part is recessed 1 or 2 plates. They used a transparent blue for another set this month and it shows studs in the center.
  18. Ideally the best front cone shape those shop needs is a 4x4 cone with hollow hole that is 1 stud tall making a 3x3 center hole instead of a 2x2. Not saying I would like to customize that piece, but I think it would drastically improve the ship on all the mods people are designing. The new art LEGO uses for the new ship is nice, but the ship cuts off the cone not round out the front engine intake. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=4742#T=S&C=85&O={"color":85,"iconly":0}
  19. I admit I have not worked on instructions before. Is thr Studio instructions maker easy to do? I may try them for smaller models like the Tron cycles or whatever to practice.
  20. Go to your account, log into it, then go to checkout. The discount is listed at the top of the checkout and you just copy and paste it into the box and it will apply. I just tried it. Works.
  21. The Return of the X-wing is more fitting for this project. The nose is still great looking. After receiving my custom Barracuda nameplate 2x4 tiles I think I may consider replacing my stickers with custom printed parts. The area I am wanting to look into is printing ot painting the different red 1-5 numbers on wedge plates. I wish LEGO made tiles of the various wedge plates for more variety. Aside from that I would live to see Red 1 or Red 5 striping on the wedge plates. I used the extra white sections of my sticker sheets to cut out notches to fit between the studs and I would rather see this air brushed or printed somehow. I keep seeing custom printed baseplate portraits on etsy and I believe we could do the same thing to the wedge plates. A few custom printed companies sell different printed plates online. I found this on a site that prints tiles and plates. So much potential
  22. I saw the topic pop up on my notifications and went to reply in my old topic and after posting realized you made a new post with the same title. I saw the Flickr updates on this project and I wanted say that the V2 is a leap over the old one. The proportions and size greatly outshines the V1 model. Co graduations. I will use that 50% discount on the instructions to study your new model. The cockpit is a great improvement and now that I scrolled through this post I see you did a new gearbox. I also like your new nose solution. I will enjoy comparing your old model to the new one from the instructions. That profile photo showing off the new 45 degree triangle tile solves my largest issue with the nose. Greatly improves the shape. I appreciate the hard work on this new model.
  23. I have not checked my messages for a while. I will message everybody the file that was finished in 2020. Jerec just released his new X-wing on Brickvault. I am mostly curious on his gearbox and if he came up with a better solution. Each of us came up with different solutions and the one problem we mostly faced was the foils expanding when we didn't want them to. Mostly because the center of our gearbox only has so much room inside the fuselage. I know that there ha e been so many new parts since I began this journey in 2016. I saw a screw technic used for stealing systems that may work and somebody messaged me that Jerec did this on his new model. I must say if he did then this gearbox issue would be resolved for everybody. The way we all did our wing connections have been different and I have seen a lot of plate designs turned sideways that would be more structurally sound for the wings. My wing design uses a lot of plates, but I always wanted to reduce the part count on the folding mechanism. I may revisit the ship now that Jerec released photos on his Flickr and brickvault is offering 50% off if you own the original file. I dupport these guys for their creative solutions. I will not make instructions for this ship because the collaborative efforts and suggestions I took from various builders when constructing this model I do not justify the effort entirely mine. There was a time when a dozen people were constructing x-wings and builders were swapping ideas and techniques. With this said, I may revisit my model later this year, check parts made since 2016 and see if I have new options to alter my model. I am proud of the exterior design on the fuselage and wings so I would probably focus on revisiting the internal wall attachments and gearbox. The physical model has too many custom or modified parts on the ion cannons that won't be replicates in legal ways easily. I do recommend purchasing Jerecs model since he said he reworked most of it and solved his structural issues. I checked out his photos on Flickr and it appears he redesigned the cockpit to a similar idea I used with the walls creating great angles to get control panels on the sides to angle in towards the pilot. He did use different solutions to the concept on the new model and I'll look forward to studying his new instructions to see what ideas he came up with and see if that would affect anything in the model I designed. Depending on the amount of changes and solutions I may not offer a new V4 file. If jerecs gearbox solution is able to work inside my model with modifications then I see no reason to deter people from purchasing his instructions. If the solution inspires me to design one that works with my model and does not resemble his box then I'll do a new file and make instructions available. I am wrapping up my 2 year pirate ship project and plan on making a pirate diorama, and move onto my long overdue ghostbusters firehouse now that I have all the 14,000+ parts. I would like to construct the new Mandelorian N-1 ship this year. I have seen so many builders trying different techniques to solve the dofficult subtle shapes. I never attempted the original one because I fell in love with Inthert design. I never built one before and with all the Lucasfilm files and photo reference for the model I think I would modify his model to fix the angles with all the newer parts that were created in the last few years. As for the new modified N-1 I am enjoying so many builder solutions that I think that I may tackle the project in my own way. The new LEGO set coming out has a few new parts on the engines that will be awesome to use on the custom moc.
  24. I am torn between the newest updates to this mod and the newly released Brickvault falcon designed by Marshall. I may purchase the instructions to study them and keep these changes on the UCS falcon to see how I may improve it when I get time to start it.
