The one place I seem to forget about. Checked and I have 14 messages. I'll handle them all today.
-
did we handle this? If not I will gladly help you out. I do not make instructions. All I offer is my digital file. I have grouped sections of the ship I found helpful when building different areas. I did not have it on bricksafe, but I will gladly offer them to you. I thought the file was on bricksafe, but I could be wrong. I may just post a download link here. For now message me and I'll email you the files. Did the file work? If it's not listed I may just offer a link here for do.

The future of Back to the Future

I wish they include minifigs from BTTF2 film. Ghostbusters minifigs would have been redundant, but they should have included the different bonds over then last 25 films or offered them in a separate series of micro sets. -

I am not 100 percent committed as of yet. I cut the rigging in the parts designer and like the results. Obviously, I wish LEGO did not center the rigging pieces, but I prefer the way it looks now. The use of rope may be decided once I start that process. I designed the ship to accommodate both ideas with little changes. Waiting on my orders from LEGO. All other orders arrived. I can begin ordering my expanded crew pieces. Though I found some parts in my previous orders I have a bunch of torsos and heads from town, castle, etc that work quite well when you mix and match parts. I also want some of these characters to have the molded beards and I forgot to order these, mustaches, and hoods or wraps that surround the neck. I found quite a bit of the prisoner torsos do not have numbers printed on the stripes so those will work well with the theme. Some of the generic castle villager torso also work. I now have 34 crew members assembled. A few more needing heads and hair, banderas, or hats. It's tough finding heads that feel like pirate parts from other themes. I have about 14 torsos and heads to order to complete the 50 man crew. This does not include the 8 figures from the set. Out of 58 crew members, I think a dozen or so will be ranked according to the following: Captain Redbeard Quartermaster Rummy Riggings 1st Mate/Helmsman Lady Anne Anchor 2nd Mate Darwin 3rd Mate Slinger Sail Maker Bliss Bo'sun Jack Dark Shark Doubloons Gunner Master Robin Loot Carpenter/Cooper Neal Tatooga Master At Arms Will Cavendish Striker Jake The Snake Blake Helmsman Lady Anne Anchor Powder Monkey/Cabin Boy Jimbo Cook Flashfork Or Cook Bart the Butcher Other crew Monkey Spinoza (original set name) Parrot Popsy (original set name) Port and Starboard twins Old Percy Tattoo McGoo Parma Sean LaFeet Black Jack Hawkins Gonzo Goldbar George Culverin Hank the Castaway Skip Peter Pirate Princess Argenta and Dagger daughters of redbeard All names are LEGO characters from various sets. I didn't realize how many barrels, 1x3, 2x2, and 3x4 crates I ordered. I know the set came with some of these things, but i wanted to have a full cargo area. Ilove these dark brown wand 1x3 crates. The nueget 2x2 crates are awesome and i have 10 of those. The taller 2x2 crates work well holding weapons and I may have a dozen of these as well. I always loved the 3x4 crates. I have 2 brown and 6 reddish brown pieces. These parts are large and may not all fit in the ship. Dark brown barrells, 26 so far. I would like to have a dozen reddish brown and old brown barrels so I can distinguish gun powder, water, and beer. know I have another dozen barrels and different sized crates from LEGO coming, quick solves most of this. Lastly, those bags or sacks parts. I have a dozen or so of these to pile up. I collected a bunch of various cuts, glasses, mugs, and bottles as well. wWeapons are also well in stock. I have no clue how many knives, cutlasses, axes, rifles, and pistols i have, but i think it will enough for 50 crew members. hen there are the 8 figures from the Barracuda set I need to add in when I open the bags. -

LEGO has hammocks, but they are 10 studs long. I am going to buy a few and scan them in and recreate them on the Adobe Illustrator and shorten them to fit 7 to 8 studs. I will supply them to the Ohio laser cut custom sails guy I been in touch with and he said he will get those done on the same fabric he is using for the replacement sails. Shrouds, you.mean the jib sails or other square sails? I am still looking at my options. I have a laser cut company who makes replacement sails and I can provide the custom shapes I need cut and printed as an option. I will make sail decisions after the ship is made and I do moc paper sails to see what sizes look right. I may need to do a full set of custom sails. Right now the masts are built with the set sails in mind and custom jib and mizzen mast sails. -
I do not have the time to do instructions. As with all my models, I gladly will give away the files. If somebody wanted to do instructions and sell them for me, I have no issue with that, but I would rather spent that time building new models. I have the van, delorean, and VW van models available for anybody willing to build them from the models. I generally try to group sections in the model to make it easier to build. I have built the delorean and have Studio renders as well as real photos in the bricksafe account. I also built the VW van and plan to take photos of it as well. Part of the reason I have not built the van is because the 6x16 stud tile is not available. I would love a tile without studs. I also noticed a few new parts in 2020 as well as 2021 that may help with the walls, such as the new bracket parts recently made. I do not know how strong the walls and roof are so I would like to get these parts in the next few months and build the model and modify it as needed. As for now, it looks great on the renders. The 2x6 tiles and 6x6 tiles could work, but I need to try these first. For those who want to see the other models: Bricksafe Back to the Future Collection I have been focused on purchasing all the parts for my 14,000 piece ghostbuster firehouse, custom galleon Barracuda ship, and a few smaller models I designed in studio. The garage will likely be my next large purchase.

My wife now knows I placed a bunch of LEGO orders for this as she handed me the mail. Waiting for a bricklink vendor to ship my last order so I can build the display stand. 4 other bricklink orders in route to the house and 3 huge Bricks and Pieces orders I placed while securing several newer parts from the latest 2021 models. Those will probably take forever. I ordered a bunch of the reddish brown, black, and other rare parts on LEGO replacement program when I noticed most of them were the same price as the vendors scattered on bricklink. I also picked up extra green plant parts, black falcon torsos, legs, armor and horses from the blacksmiths set because those were my second favorite collections growing up. So far I have 30 additional crew members enlisted aboard. Waiting for more parts to make up the last 20 crew members. I may need to take a few photos of the crew building the display stand. I still need to get the custom nameplate created, buy a ton of string from a craft store, and continue buying random torsos, legs, and heads from bricklink to build my crew. -
This would look great connected to the Barracuda Bay. I love the whole design and works quite well. I will definitely use some of these ideas expanding the set. The bridge and shack are fantastic.

that was quick. I grabbed ten sets of shields, torsos, legs, heads, and armor. I am glad i didn't miss out on this opportunity. I should have done more for future army building. -

Cannons are back. Grabbed 16 for my pirates moc. Missed out on the falcon torso and legs, but grabbed a few older knight head. I may be too focused on building pirate stuff, but I love those new horses. -

Parts are slowly arriving. I still need to place a few more orders, but this is expensive. I placed an order on bricks and pieces because they had some of the newer parts I needed. Looking forward to getting all my orders by June. Started to swap out colors and make several modifications to the ship because of cost. Changed my smaller cannons because I wanted them to have dark pearl gray parts instead of all Dark Bluish Gray. At least I'll have the option for both designs. The stand will be built first since that only took 3 different orders. I didn't realize the 2x2 curved tile isn't available in reddish brown yet. I may substitute the doors for black until that part is available in the color I want. I need to buy string or cord. Anybody know where I can find several different sizes that look similar to the official brand options. I am also building my pirate army. I have a bunch of stuff in a wanted list. I would like to have a crew of 50 or more. -
What string do you use for the different rigging?

I devayed this for a while, but ultimately I am trying to keep it to the same proportions as the galleon reference I am using. This isn't much of a difference than the Black Pearl proportions either. I think the sails and rigging will help. Right now it feels naked for sure. I Once I build it I'll adjust it as needed. It's tough to make final decisions without seeing the sails on it. thank you. I appreciate the comment. Pirates were my first love in LEGO, so I really spent way too much time designing this. that is one I forgot about. Thanks. -

Not yet. If you have a suggestion feel free to share it. There are a few places I looked into, but I don't know the printing quality. -

Did some tile nameplate designs for the stand. 20 years of graphic design paid off. Anyways, I think these designs feel right. Looks like I will do this nameplate UV printed since PAD printing is costly. I do not think anybody prints 1 design pad printed. First up: Torn paper "Seven Seas Barracuda" which may need to have the paper tone Second: Similar design as the Ship in the Bottle nameplate. They used a different font, rope for decorative elements and a a few other slight changes. I went for a similar feel, but made it my own. The Camilla Nameplate" Thank you. Come back and check out the nameplate designs I came up with. -

Lego Pirate Ship Stand Stand: 319 Parts Length: 40 studs Height: 8 studs Width: 14.7 studs The stand has the ability to attach to the hull by removing 2 slopes on the hull and adding 4 pieces. The stand is based on the Ship in the Bottle display stand. I started with a similar frame and expanded the idea surrounding the compass. I expanded this concept to fit my ship. I did not use the same parts hidden inside the model structure. From there, I began to shape the outside with a vintage design. -

I think I need to change my file and make that lower hull white like you made in my digital file. I just kept it brown so it would be a place Redbeard didn't need to paint over for the barracuda. But, as a sister ship of the fleet that would be possible. I may need to alter the story or make this one of two ships built in the fleet. This would be a second ship launched months later circling the globe for the East India Trade Company. -
I thought of designing a ship display stand, but I may want to create an ocean display with her cutting through the water instead. Not sure. Display stand I will still pursue, offer it with the set, but this makes me want to have some sort of modular wave display base built.

The Camilla/ Broadside's Revenge. The dark blue contrasts nicely with the normal blue gun ports. -

The photos are digital rendering. I am ordering parts to build the ship. It still needs all the string and custom sails in getting made. -

cehnot replied to cehnot's topic in Pirate MOCs
The ship is over 5300 pieces. 5400 pieces if you add all the extra barrels, boxes, and buckets. I didn't expect the ship would clock in twice as many parts as the set. tiles and plates are the main reason based on looking at the rebrickable parts list. One set only contributes to 25 percent of the galleon build. I am checking all my bins for what parts I currently own and plan to create a new part list for ordering. The great news is I will have lots of extra parts from the set to build an extremely detailed shipwreck island. -

That is a good question. I think I originally thought that the Imperial Flagship and the Caribbean Clipper defines the color pallet for Governor Broadside's Fleet. Even though the Flagship was helmed by Admiral Woodhouse, I think both would be using the same colors since they take place in the Caribbean. The Flagship soldiers use the more modern Redcoat design seen in the middle 1700s. I guess it really depends on how you want to spin it. The frigate was a great design on facebook in the group i linked earlier. I think it would be known as Redbeard's theme. Pirates often repained their ships darker or neutral colors to steer away from flashy colors. I think the reimagined Caribbean Clipper and other imperial ship mocs sorta define their own pallet. If we are talking about Governor Broadside, I would probably look at the classic sets and use the colors they did. Sure, not everything needs to just be yellow, white, and blue, but it clearly identified who was an imperial and who was a pirate in 1989-1996. As for original ship color pallet, I sorta reference Black Sails and POTC. Jack Sparrow painted the Wicket Wench (British ship he was aboard while working for the East India Trading Company) solid black and renamed it The Black Pearl. As for British ships I referenced model kits as well of 18th century British ship of the line. They seem to use basic colors or only paint the keel white. The larger ships appear to be colored Black yellow, Blue, white. The HMS. Victory, HMS Bounty, HMS Surprise. If it were me doing a fleet I would adhere to the following colors: Redbeard: Red, white, black, yellow. Babyteeth did an excellent job capturing the modern ship design in his Clipper and Imperial Flagship. Those work well as a fleet, but not a definitive ship requirement for all fleets. He proposes its a ship built in the late 17th century and used in the early 18th century. This would fit in line with Redbeard. There is a person who sells replacement sails that are laser cut I have spoken with. I am going to see if I can get him to use the same sail colors for the set, but in different sized sails. I think i need a taller lower main mast sail, a jib sail that is the size of the original BSB set, etc. I think using standard LEGO sizes with the same color pallet would look nice. If I move the current jib sail to the back as the Missen mast I think the smaller BSB jib sails would work well in the front. I know the new Barracuda sails are massive. I need something taller like the Skull's Eye Schooner did. But in the new scale. If I am getting custom sails done, 1 large main mast sail like the Schooner scaled up to the new set sails, 4 smaller BSB jib sails. All using the new ship sail color bar widths. -

thanks. I took a lot of inspirations from the POTC films and Black Sails tv show. The design was closer to a race-built galleon which got rid of the navigation room and much faster than most galleons. I used Francis Drake's ship as the main reference for this design. I think this ship will be fast with all the sails on. It will definitely outrun other galleons since it's smaller and lighter. I debated on making it a 5th rate ship adding a few more cannons. I think the frigate is about the same length as a race-built galleon (70 to 115ft long keep to bow). I will let other people build the Spanish treasure ships. As for the day hull shape. That is what I struggled with. the wealthy fat galleons all flattened out at the bottom and did not cut through the water too much. My keel is more in line with a frigate keel and I am not sure if that would help too much. I took a lot of ship ideas to build what I thought would work. The ship is much narrower than most treasure ships. I used the battle ships of the line designs by the English to combat with the Spanish Armada so most my design choices were to ensure this ship would out run a Spanish Galleon. Frigates replaced galleons and I think that is why The Black Pearl was designed as a race-built galleon. They didn't go full indiaman design, but clearly cut off a navigation deck in their design to make her cut through the water faster. The ship sails: Jib sail, flying jib sail, spirit sail I debated on 3 sails per mast, but I'll see how it looks with current sails. I will likely add stay sails in between the two masts. Mizzen mast will have a lanteen sail and I'll see if it needs a top gallant sail. So many decisions to make. -
great ship. Love the lower deck.
