What I meint was, does it fit minifigs inside? ;)
-
It does look more realistic than TLGs version.. and the render also looks more real than most brick built models.. Well done indeed! Are you planning on building it in the brick? And does it fit minifigures? :)
-
I can only agree. This is a very nice model of one of the more beautiful places on this planet that we call our own. And yes, Ireland is a wonderful country! ;) Even though I think this scene should have been at the beginning of Episode IIX, leaving us with an ending simillar to that of The Empire Strikes Back, I am happy to finally see some more elaborate MOCs for TFA. You should try and open up the back of the island to make the entranceway lead to Luke's homestead inside the rocks. That would make a cool playset reminiscent of Yoda's hut back from 2005. ;)

You only built half a corridor and one seat and already your model is more detailed than the official set, wow. ;) You are probably aware of this but the bubble directly connects with the cockpit on top leaving a gap in front of the pilots console, through which you should be able to see the gunner beneath. I can't see if you left space for that gap but I think it's a quite nice feature of the Ghosts cockpit. As I am not sure which some parts you mean, I'd really like a picture of them in place. Have you already thought about what you want to use for the main cockpit's windshield? I can only think of the small cockpit for the sets scale but that is way too small for your model.. Keep us posted with more updates! This looks like it will be really great!

Thanks for your comment! However, I won't change the angle of the cockpit as it is such an important feature of the model and the playset shows us how bad it looks having the cockpit straight. As many of you over on Flickr asked for instructions I have decided to release the LDD file. If you use the file to build your own X-Wing please be honest about it and don't present it as your own work. Thanks! :) Also, I'd love to see pictures of your X-Wings! Modifications are very welcome and I might have to steal the best ones. So, here is the file: T-70 X-Wing wings seperate.lxf Have fun building! EDIT: As several people seem to have had problems opening the file I uploaded to EB but sending it via E-Mail seems to work, just send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you the file as soon as I can. :) Note: I split the model up into modules that I'd recommend building seperatly first as assembling the wings can be quite tricky and I found this to be the easiest way. If you have any further questions just ask me here and I will get to you as soon as possible. (Obviously I wasn't able to incorporate the windshield part in it. There are also a few small parts missing from the guns as LDD deleted them every time I saved the file but you should be able to figure those out yourselves. :) )

Thank you, glad you like it! :) My model has the right proportions length-wise. The problem once again is the minifig. In order to fit a pilot the whole fuselage has to be a bit wider than it should be. That's what makes it seem a bit stubby. Yes, indeed, well spotted. I was hesitant to post pictures of the grey version at first for those exact reasons. The whole nose area just worked a lot better on the black version as it eliminated almost all of the shadows. I did consider it but it didn't really work out to look better than this one, so I stuck with it for the time being.. You are not the only one but as krisandkris 12 said the length is accurate. I measured it and compared it with the measurements of the original and they are within a studs tolerance. However, my design is a bit too wide to fit a minifig inside and the whole nose should actually also slope upwards ever so slightly, which I ignored in order to preserve structural stability for the model.

This has been up on Flickr for a few weeks now but I thought I'd share it here anyway, telling those interested a bit more about the build. The T-70 X-Wing is one of my favorite vehicles from The Force Awakens and even of the whole Star Wars universe. As the LEGO set was no more than your average stud shooting playset I quickly decided to build my own version of the starfighter. Originally I didn't really like Poe Dameron's repainted version very much but since I didn't have that many grey parts available for experimenting due to my Millennium Falcon project I still went with this colour scheme for the first design and really grew to like it. For the build design I wanted to borrow a few small elements from Mike Psiaki's fantastic T-65 X-Wing and combine them with my own style and that of the newer design for the fighter itself. X-Wing Attack on Starkiller Base by Kit Bricksto, on Flickr I really wanted to make sure that the fighter wasn't just in scale with minifigs but also incorporated all the important features and details of the real thing. This meant that the wings had to open and close smoothly and the landing gear had to fold into the hull nicely in order to not disturb the overall sleekness of the ship. Black One T-70 X-Wing (1) by Kit Bricksto, on Flickr Once I had finished the Black Leader version of the X-Wing I realized that it didn't take that many special parts to complete it and that I'd probably manage to build a blue and grey one too. Although I had to change some parts on this version I still think that the second one looks equally good. This isn't the greatest picture of the grey X-Wing, sorry. Look at it more as a teaser.. T-70 X-Wing by Kit Bricksto, on Flickr Anyway, I'd love to hear your opinions on my interpretation of the T-70! Constructive criticism is always very welcome, too.

I quite like your idea to create these small scale ships based on the very first LEGO Star Wars series. I think you did a good job at recreating the feel of those old models while using modern parts like those shooters. I only have three small things that I don't like but that you can easily fix if you agree with me. ;) First, I would change the white plates on top of the nose for some tiles. Second, those wedge parts on the sides of the cockpit somehow don't feel right to me. Maybe you could go with the set design a bit further and use the same parts you used for the nose there? My final complaint are the engines. I think they just look a bit off being so high over the wings. I know this is the simple style of the original sets but maybe you could try and embed them a bit deeper into the wings and make those slopes beside them a bit more prominent.. I know this is not an easy task if you want to stay true to the 1999 X-Wing but I think you can do it and improve your model even further. Don't get me wrong though, I still really like these and you can be proud of them! :)

I'd suggest the same things as Mr Greeble did but if that isn't enough you could always look at the instructions for one of them online. They're all available on the official LEGO website.

[MOC] [WIP] The Command of the AT-AT
Kit Bricksto replied to LiLmeFromDaFuture's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Wow, it takes quite some persistance to hold on to a project like this for such a long time. I don't think I'd have the patience to work on something this long. I saw your great AT-ST WIP and Snowspeeder too. Are you planning to build some big Hoth Display with all of these? -
Hi Darth, The front shot reminds me quite a lot of my own version of Rey's speeder but after looking at the side views of yours there are quite some differences after all. I quite like your speeder although I think it is a bit too long. The original is about four metres long which is about the same as two figures. Yours looks like it is almost three figs long. By the way, are you on IdS too? Cheers, Kit

[MOC]s - Star Wars REBELS Vehicles and other Creations
Kit Bricksto replied to DarthTwoShedsJackson's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thank you very much, really happy that I could inspire you! I am looking forward to seeing your Falcon. I really like your work, especially the Ghost and the Imperial Assault Carrier and can only imagine your Falcon to be great when it is finished. -
What more can I say? The head is used much more elegantly than it is in the set it came from if you ask me. I wouldn't say that Steampunk is Historic though, I think I'd classify it as Fantasy as I always imagined it to be something from a parallel universe like the world of Philipp Pullman's Northern Lights series.

It somehow reminds me of the Medical Stations in Star Wars the Clone Wars mixed with a bit of Robocop. I like how smooth it looks. The few studs that are visible seem as if they are actually part of the design. I think this would work very well as a background element in a forced-perspective shot. :)

[MOC] [Steampunk] Sir Archibald's Mechanical Elephant
Kit Bricksto replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Nice! This looks a lot better than the Chima set. I don't really build Steampunk myself but I always enjoy looking at other peoples builds. The TIE cockpits work really well on the sides of this and I always appreciate detailed interiors. Well done! -
[MOC] Modular Medieval Lighthouse
Kit Bricksto replied to Vorkosigan's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
At first glance I thought this looked a bit too smooth for something medieval but the interior detail makes up for that. :) I really like that the tower is modular and that there are small rooms inside all the levels. How easy is it to take it apart and put together again? I'd imagine that those rounded parts want to shift around quite a bit? -
I really like these shadow builds. They always remind me of comic books or the Sin City films. It's interesting how simple these look while being quite a complex thing to figure out with bricks. You did a really great job on this particular one. There is just so much atmosphere in it..

LEGO Architecture "World's Tallest" Custom Series
Kit Bricksto replied to Doctor Octoroc's topic in Special LEGO Themes
How well are these in scale with each other? Could you build the skylines of the cities you have buildings from with them? Maybe something inspired by the Skyline series LEGO has now started? I think that would be pretty cool. :) -
[MOC] [LDD] UCS INCOM T-70 X-Wing Fighter
Kit Bricksto replied to All in the Reflexes's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I already liked your smaller version of this ship but the UCS really does make it look small. I think that all the slopes work much better at this scale. The nose area looks much smoother, as do the engines and the cockpit. This would definitly be a great addition to any UCS collection! Looking forward to seeing it built in real bricks. -
They never boarded the Falcon though, they were just on Han's big freighter, weren't they?
-
Wow, I really like your take on Hogwarts so far! I once started building it myself and know how hard it is to decide on a scale and still fit in a few details. You managed just that very nicely. Both the interior and exterior look very close to the original and fit well with minifigures. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of this. I asume you don't want to build it with real bricks any time soon? There seem to be some colours in it that are not available at the moment.

[WIP - LDD - MOC] 16x32 "Affordable" Ghostbusters HQ
Kit Bricksto replied to mediumsnowman's topic in LEGO Licensed
That's certainly a cool idea and very well executed too! Only thing missing is a City scale Ecto-1 now. I'd love to see it built in the real brick. Even though I'd imagine the amount of dark red and lbg would still make it quite expensive. Also, I really like that it fits nicely with the Town Modulars. -
Hi everyone! Some of you might already know me, as I have been active in the LEGO-community over on Flickr and the German forum "Imperium der Steine" for a few years now. I saw some of the great models posted here on EB every now and then and have now decided to join the forum myself in order to not miss out on the great MOCs posted here. I am very excited to talk to LEGO fans from all over the world. Flickr, while being international, just doesn't have the community factor it once had anymore. As my username suggests I am a great fan of Star Wars (and yes, I did love The Force Awakens, I'll admit that freely! ) but I also like the Marvel Cinematic Universe and other Superhero related films like the Nolan Batman films. Another passion of mine is architecture. As I don't want to spam you with lots of old MOCs of mine in other parts of EB, I thought I'd just show you some of my personal favorites here: X-Wing Attack on Starkiller Base by Kit Bricksto, on Flickr The Tumbler - final version by Kit Bricksto, on Flickr Quinjet (1) by Kit Bricksto, on Flickr Nubian J-Type Diplomatic Frigate approaching Coruscant by Kit Bricksto, on Flickr LAAT/i Update (1) by Kit Bricksto, on Flickr Malibu Mansion 25x25 by Kit Bricksto, on Flickr Malibu Mansion by Kit Bricksto, on Flickr ADAC Rescue Helicopter (5) by Kit Bricksto, on Flickr I hope you like my work (feel free to criticize though if you don't) and I am looking forward to great discussions and hours of LEGO related fun! : ) Cheers, Kit Bricksto
